I love '80's Rush, including this song. It's very pensive; I believe Neil wrote the lyrics about a friend of the band who had passed away. There is an urgency to this song; it's just constantly moving forward. I think Geddy is playing keyboards here; I just wish they had shown him doing that in the video. Some Rush fans don't like the band's so-called 'keyboard era' of the '80s, but as a child of that era, I love it (synth pop automatically makes me feel nostalgic, and I just like the sound of it). If you haven't already reacted to it, I suggest checking out the music video to 'Subdivisions'.
This song was about a friend that worked at Le Studio. He passed suddenly. I believe it was a car accident. It has that softer 80's feel but yet there is a great intensity to it.
You can feel the emotional memory pouring out of Neil on this song. It perfectly captures the anger, frustration and helplessness that can result from the sudden loss of loved ones. One of the best guitar solos I’ve ever heard composed entirely of chords. You heard it and identified it well. It’s the buildup to the solo and the space they create before Alex comes in. That makes it so impactful for me.
Great reaction and comments guys. Love Rush

I read that the synthesiser work for this album was mostly done on a Yamaha PPG Wave 2.2
RUSH RULES! F CAMELTOE AND TAMPON TIMMY! MAGA FOREVER ❤️🤍💙
Rush rules...yes. The rest of your comment was not necessary, childish, and just stupid.
