The way Barbara went from knowing like two musicals to interviewing musical writers as basically a musical expert… also 15 mins lol

The off-b'way slime for RTC popped into my RUclips feed a week after my mom passed. I clicked on it expecting to just preview a minute of it thinking it might be a diversion... It was _not_ a diversion - I couldn't look away. The show provided so much catharsis that made me cry and laugh and felt like a weird hug out of nowhere, so RTC holds a special place for me. I feel RTC fills the modern day slot of Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN regarding existentialism and how it's so easy to overlook all the unique and weird beautiful magic of everyday life that seems mundane as it whizzes by.

I’m definitely in my RTC phase (been watching related stuff nonstop for like a week), so seeing this is like a godsend. A bunch of my friends and I are like, so obsessed that we combined it with another web series we’re obsessed with (Spooky Month) and made a whole type of thing in order to scratch our brains, lmao.
The creators seem like such a joy to talked to and I entirely envy you for being able to meet and talk to them about their masterpiece.
I will absolutely be looking around the website 👀 and I cannot wait for when the show returns to make its rounds in the US because I absolutely NEED to Ride The Cyclone myself.

What a great conversation! Jacob and Brooke seem like really fun guys to chat with. And yes, it just opened in Sydney - my daughter and I went to see it last week! It was so so good!

fascinated by this interview. thank you so much for taking the time to interview these two- ive been going down a rabbit hole myself of RTC 'lore' myself and one of my questions was just how much the opening numbers had changed. glad that my assumption of uranium suite just being more narratively satisfying being correct after all. of course, theres some stuff other stuff i'd liked to have answered, but thems just the breaks on me ("is ocean a communist" will be confirmed one day). anyway, great fun. excited for the website too

I wish Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber had the same philosophy about rewriting his stuff 😆
Love this show (my kid introduced me to it - proud parenting moment there!), and love how smart the fan theories are. We love listening to the cast album, singing along, and discussing the latest things we’ve heard 🥰
I also want to thank the creators for giving us some proper classical-style vocals to sing along with. My kid is 15 and a soprano, so she does Ocean and Jane, and I do Constance and the boys. The harmonies are so much fun, and she’s learning how to find the harmonic lines and blend, how to solo over an ensemble, and now she says she wants to be involved in theatre somehow!! I think we all have that show that makes us fall in love with musical theatre, and Ride The Cyclone (and Groundhog Day - the kid has good taste, what can I say?) was that show for my kid. I can’t thank everyone involved enough for that 🥰

I can confirm RTC has been playing in Australia, since we were there a week ago. It's currently sold out, but heading off to at least another city.
Anyway, cool interview! I have always been curious if the third musical in the so-called Uranium trilogy is being worked on, in case anyone can ask some extra questions.

can someone tell me if they ever discuss, Yannick or their ablism towards them, ricky, and disabled actors everywhere, It seems to be something that has been swept under the rug and forgotten but it is so important to disability access and representation. I don't want to watch this if they never even discuss how awful all of that was handled

No unfortunately, they barely even mention Ricky at all and they don't talk about any of the disability aspects
