Best of luck to Jason, and Robbie. I came out in the 70's, then finding my love while working in a gay bar for over 10 years. I told my mother when I was 18, but she didn't seem to connect with me. When working at the gay bar, I invited my mother to come there, and she had a blast. But she couldn't accept me being gay, even to the day she died in 2005. I wasn't told of her death till 9 months later, my sister's didn't want me at her funeral, and they knew I was on tour, so they didn't want me to stop the tour to attend. Sadly, my family didn't accept me being gay, but being the only son to my mother, they kept me out of the loop. I'm 61 now, and I have no siblings left. I'm pure and clean of my life, and wouldn't change it for even my family. You cannot change being gay, and I'm proud of whom I am, not what other's think I should be. #LoveWins
...so sorry your family missed the opportunity to know & love you...my situation is similar...they have always known and the comments they would make at me throughout my life were really hurtful. I loved my mother and cared for her during the last years she was ill & in pain but she couldn't accept the lifestyle either...I know she loved me but her pentecostal faith just made it impossible for her to accept me..I'm 68 now & still feel "guilty" that I was a disappointment to them.
As a Gay older man of sixty years old I never thought I would live to see Gay marriage legalized nor Sports figures come out as being gay! Thank you for offering your story. I am a gay man who had a terrifying experience growing up gay in New Mexico. I was beaten in my home by a man who was a homophobic member of a church youth group. After winning my case against him through the DA's office, my case was used with others to pass the hate crimes bill in New Mexico. Since then I have experienced several hateful things at the hands of communities and groups based in hate and intolerance. As much as I would like to believe that things are changing, my experience will not allow me to embrace the idea. We still have a long was to go. For me, things did not get better. I am struggling to maintain a career in the medical field where my sexuality continues to be a point that fosters difficulty for me professionally and personally. I am living in a community where people are discouraged from even talking with me and, as I have been told, people are told they aren't encourage and are shamed, because they shouldn't be talking with "the gay man." I have taken to doing activism work to help to educate people on all facets of life that are not geared toward affording all people a good and peaceful quality of life. Again, thank you for sharing your story and being a proponent for change. I also would like to say that you have clearly been blessed with support systems that have not failed you. GOD BLESS YOU BRO ,,,,YOUR MORE A MAN THEN ANY OTHER MAN,,,,,,,,,,,,IT TAKES A REAL MAN TO DO WHAT YOU DID,,,,,,I PRAY GOD IS WITH YOU ALL THE WAY,,,,,,,,,,,
Robbie Rogers story is more inspiring to me than Jason Collins. For one thing Rogers is still in his prime he's only going to be 26 he can still have a successful soccer career. He was on the United States International team, he competed at the Olympics, and he won a MLS cup in 2008 with the Columbus crew. Rogers didn't come out to get on the cover of Sports Illustrated or get interviewed by Oprah. Rogers is more courageous to me than Jason Collins he didn't come out to cash in.
This reminds of that short film that's called "Marc and Jordi (gay storyline)" and I mean, it's almost down to a tee how similar this is... Like what is possible to have happened afterwards... If you're interested go watch it, it's on youtube and it's only about 14 minutes long but it gets really good
Whole new world for him now, wonderful for him! So many straight people out there can't comprehend that gays and straights are different from the start as far as the attraction. So because they aren't attracted to the same sex and are very attracted to the opposite they don't understand its not the same nor has it ever been the same for a gay person. They can be alike in many ways but that is one of the things that is just different not bad just unique between gay and straight. I grew up the 70s early 80s grew up around kids that many were taught by their parents and churches that gay is the worse thing out there over anything. No internet to escape to very hard to meet anyone but internet and social media has opened a lot up to the GLBT world since that time.
This is wonderful. Coming out isn't just about sexuality. It's about finding the courage to express who you really are to the world. Robbie's mother is beautiful.
Coming out from who and really what you are is the hardest thing to do. But doing so, no matter how elite you are is the right thing to do.,You are doing this for your self and not for others.
animebety Why you're fuming, you have the hard time coming out from you shell...Wow that must be hard.,well that's your choice.,pretend to be straight.

The mom's reaction made me bawl
Is that a dog running in the background at 5:20?
Yaoi yes
is he back to play now?
GOD BLESS YOU BRO ,,,,YOUR MORE A MAN THEN ANY OTHER MAN,,,,,,,,,,,,IT TAKES A REAL MAN TO DO WHAT YOU DID,,,,,,I PRAY GOD IS WITH YOU ALL THE WAY,,,,,,,,,,,
Brave and Talented! I wonder what he's been doing...
What was that at 5:19???
That was creepy as fuck 🤣
Very courageous Rob !
Such a beautiful strong man! Go on, Dude!!!!!!
good well done robbie :) support you!
just #respect!!
We were all born superstars.. God said,. ..Your on the right track baby we were born this way
Robbie Rogers story is more inspiring to me than Jason Collins.
My Hat Goes Off To Robbie...Strong Minded & Courages.
This reminds of that short film that's called "Marc and Jordi (gay storyline)" and I mean, it's almost down to a tee how similar this is... Like what is possible to have happened afterwards... If you're interested go watch it, it's on youtube and it's only about 14 minutes long but it gets really good
Hope he gets back to what he is good at soon.
i love him so much god bless robbie
Good for you sir.
Yep that's right he stand up for himself nothing's wrong being gay ! You will always be awesome we love you !!
it's like one of robie williams songs " all the best women are married All the handsome men are GAY, You feel deprived "
Robbie's mother is beautiful.
love is love!!
go with it man good luck man hope you have a good life and find love to god bless
Biggest fan before, still his biggest fan now.
Keep pretending but deep inside, you are what you are and that hurts.
Ramon Galvez Exactly.
5:20 Puppy Cam 🐶
7'4 !!! Damn that's a big guy! Collins is handsome and seems like a really nice guy all around. He probably has the guys and girls lined up outside the door. Rogers is devilishly cute too!
Awe, him and his family are soo cute
He's gorgeous.
