Except for Israel, where I've worked and lived for many years. Think what you will about Israel, but it's heaven for LGBTQ people. As opposed to the rest of the Middle East.
@@killertank3168 so your friend is cheating on his wife, that's disgusting. If he wants to have a gay life he should do it bravely instead of compromise to hetero-marriage.

Hey I'm a gay Iranian who was born and raised in America. I appreciate you sharing your perspective because culture and religion can translate to even another country. I can't begin to imagine how it would have been growing up with these difficulties with the added extremism and homophobia of Iranian culture. Lots of love
Oh God Matin is soooooooo irresistibly cute!!!!!!!! The smiles, the goofiness, the cuteness, everything about him is so amazing... I melted into water! Love you Matin! From New York!!! Raj
You said something that I paused to write down: "Nothing feels better than to express yourself freely and to be who you really are." Such beautiful words and phrasing. I came out 45 years ago and have never looked back. I was so so so so SO fortunate to have supportive parents who didn't bat an eye (and they were not religious either). I immediately moved from Atlanta Georgia to San Francisco where it was much easier to be gay when I was 22. 15 years later and two college degrees I moved to Hawaii, got married to a great guy scientist at age 55 - so it gets incredibly better, Matin! My very best to you on your Journey! Aloha!
Not Turkish but I’ve been to Istanbul. Atatürk was so great for Turkey… democracy and making the Haji Sofia a museum/landmark were awesome things he supported. You seem like a really sweet and well adjusted person, despite your travails… I hope you find the happiness you deserve with the guy of your dreams. Cheers!
My situation wasn't life threatening, but my parents handled it horribly for YEARS. And I love this comment section, you are so sweet and deserve to be protected!
Hey I have a very similar experience as I also left my country (Saudi Arabia) and claimed asylum in the UK (finally got it after two years) during my asylum process I also came out to my family and put them in the same situation (you either accept me or I’m cutting ties) I understand how difficult it’s and you are very brave and I’m very proud that you’re finally able to be your authentic self and building your future while taking care of your mental health. Thank you for making this video and I hope it inspires others to do the same while also being safe. Best of luck to you and I wish you all the best ❤
Thank you Matin, for your courageous story. I am much older than you are and being American, although we had to stay 'hidden' when I was young, still the culture in USA is nothing like the Middle East. My husband is Canadian and you are so fortunate to have relocated there. We love the Canadians; if only other countries could be as affirming as they are. Loved your testimony!
You are so adorable! I think middle eastern men are so handsome. Coming out is scary enough without worrying about being killed for it. Good for you and the best of luck to you in your freedom!
You have an amazing story that needs to be shared with the Muslim, fundamentalist Christian, fundamentalist Jewish, and any other religious beliefs that condemn or deny us our God-given humanity. Kudos for making yourself a happy man. Be at peace.

I happen to have a friend from Iran, as taboo as gay sex is, it is happening in Iran all the time, he was very pretty, and probably the reason he was sexually abused at age 12 by his uncle and his teacher and when he tried to speak to his mum about it , she just slapped him, and told him not to lie and never ever speak of it again ... this abuse continued for years, at age 18 He left the country and now live in UK... and sadly he has no contact with his family anymore! He told me this happens all the time under the nose of many parents and it is very common and expected in a sexually repressed country as Iran!
@@cydelamacorra6677 I was not talking about USA or the rest of the world to start with, so you had nothing to disagree with me, your disagreement is with yourself in your head!!!! But if you already want to read between lines, then I will say this: It is not about that it is not happening anywhere else, it is about how it is addressed ... unlike in the USA or the rest of the world, Islamic countries pretend it does happen or even does not exist!!!! in the USA an American woman would literally murder her partner or anyone who sexually abused her child, not ignore a such complain from her child out of some personal religious shame and disbelief! Once a workmate who was Indian told me that there is no such thing as a gay man in India and that only people in the West are as perverted! It is an attitude most Islamic people have!
Congratulations you are now Canadian, simply because you said "That being said". Heheheee. Really, don't stop encouraging others. You will help some persons that think they are the only one.
Congratulations on living in Canada. As someone who lives in the United States and is still in the closet, I hope watching your video gives me the courage to come out. Thanks for such an inspiring video.
I am happy for you. Wish I could say the same for my friend who is also a Muslim here in the Philippines. When we were younger, he is only able to express who he really is when he was around us and when we were at another friend's house. It's where he was comfortable, no other people, just us his friends who knew about him. He was forced into marriage and had to stop seeing us. We all moved on with our lives as adults. He has 3 kids now but we know he isn't 100% happy. Since then, we can only get updates on social media. I miss him, I remember when he would transform himself into a diva using blankets and sing like a true diva. You are so right about how religions can brainwash people.
Wow Im also living in iran right now but if your originaly from iran you speaking is really amazing ...sharing your personal story to the world is a bold move and your very brave man and cute at same time!
That is an interesting and sad story. I spent time in the Middle East, and I know the dangers of being gay. You seem to be a lovely man in every way. I'm glad you've made it to Canada.
All that love in you, shining past hard times. And to come up and out beyond it all with that sweet twinkle in your eye. What a beautiful (hunky!) gift! 😘
We can't help but love you, too, with your infectious smile and laugh and your positive attitude. Thank you for being a voice for so many in countries that oppress the LGBTQ+ community.
I grew up with a similar experience, in Texas. Texas is a very conservative and religious place. Sadly our experiences were very similar. I wish I had more friends like you back then. Now that I’m older I know who I am and make no excuses. Still deal with homophobia in my own family. But wanted you to know how very proud of you I am! BRAVO! You have a friend in me… Jon
Oh my gosh, your journey to express yourself is an inspiring one. I also can relate to you in some sense regarding family, I grew up in a islamic household and my parents thinks of gay people like we are some brainwashed community that is unethical, everytime they preach it I'm just like🧍🏻♀. Thankfully I go to a more international/english speaking school so people are more open minded to this. Videos like this would always make me feel like I'm not alone, there are millions out there like us that has an unfair disadvantage in life just because we're different than the majority :( . I would always try to be grateful because I know people out there don't have even 1 support system in their life when it comes to this. As of now, there ain't no way I'm coming out to my family as of now, maybe way later in the future when I'm older and more financially stable so that I'd have my own independence . SO glad that I got recommended this video of yours ahhh!! I've been following you since your first video. Can't wait to see your channel grow Matin! ❤😁 Love from Indonesia!! 🫶
Omg mine is exactly like yours as you said, my family also thinks it’s a disease (other than my sis). It’s so good that you had the option to go to an international school literally must’ve saved your life to some extent 💀 Literally idk what we did to deserve to be born into homophobic countries😂 Wish you the best with coming out whenever the time was and thank you so much for being there for me since day one you literally got me teary eyed as I was reading your message😭🥹 love you thanks for the support❤️
So proud of you, It is hard enough to be your full self, it is far more difficult when how you are and what you feel is forbidden. You are a beautiful soul
Love your videos. It's nice that you feel safe and independent on your own now. Those are great advices. It's really hard to come out to your family especially if you're still dependent on them. I hope one day I can move abroad like you and find a place that feels safe.

I am happy to hear young generation coming out being strong. Asia and Africa aren't easy societies because of religion. Keep up the spirit because God doesn't discriminate human beings do.
You tell your story so beautifully! With humour and lightness for a life growing up as a young man in Iran not always so easy! Bravo! And enjoy your life in Canada.
I love that you were able to tell this story with a sense of humor. We need to keep it in mind that hating someone because of their sexuality, ethnicity, gender expression, etc. is a joke, and we should be able to laugh at it even though it's also simultaneously endangering us. To quote Seal " you're never gonna survive unless you get a little crazy" and you did gurl...you did. 🙏 🤲
Same here. Struggle between being a Muslim and being true to myself. Decided to become both and live happier. I feel your struggle during the closeted phase. You said a few words about it but I know it was a constant struggle to pretend. Glad you came to terms with it. 🎉🎉🎉

Wow, I'm so sorry that you had a challenging coming out experience. But it's so beautiful that you even have a bit of a sense of humor about some of those experiences. It shows that those experiences don't have control over you. I'm so happy that you're able to live openly and truthfully now. :) Best wishes.

Wow! You’re story really touched me. I always have empathy for others plights in life. I had a very normal American upbringing. Being gay was still tough as a kid. But once I got to high school the US was changing and my parents and friends were accepting. I had a friend who came to live in the US from Jordan. He explained the taboos of homosexuality in Muslim countries. I am so glad you found your peace. You seem like a very genuine soul and I hope you continue to help others feel accepted in the world.
Excellent 1st person history that needs to be shared, for not just us, but your comfort too. It is a battle to fight everyday when it shouldn't be this way. Thank you for sharing. I'd invite you to Memphis sometime. But let's fix things here a bit more here in the Southern USA.
Powerful story and journey. You have come a long way in a short time. I like the fact you shared about being gay in the Middle East and the impact it has on people. Your story is powerful. Thank you for sharing. I assume Canada is your new permanent home. I hope so...
What a wonderful man you are! Such excellent advice for those in countries with awful draconian laws. And how heroic your own fight to free yourself from a place like that. It's a true inspiration that you're not only eloquent, generous, and intelligent, but also as handsome as men ever get to be. Thank you for sharing your inspirational story. The hope you give will save lives.
I just would like to say you have an incredible personality,. Voices like yours are so important specially in the current climate in Easter nations, I really wish you well in you're new home and I home many find inspiration to see there's a good life ahead of them , cheers.
I really appreciate your ongoing courage. I came out at a time in Texas that was very dangerous to be gay. I’m shocked at how much change has happened here in my lifetime. Actually I’m more interested in your desire to be in animation. It was my work as an animator/ vfx artist that smoothed my coming out. I worked in television post production at first and it tends to be a very gay friendly environment. Animation has been my career and passion and I can honestly say I’ve barely worked a day in my life. I loved it that much. Sadly cancer took my right elbow and tremors finished the job. Even using a mouse is difficult but I’m finding new ways to scratch that artistic itch. I can’t wait to hear of your adventures in Canada and learn more about your passions. ❤
I got here in Canada since 2016 but I'm still depressed because it's so hard to find friends who are like us. I just want to find friends who I can talk to freely.
Us gays living and born in the West just don’t understand or realise just how easy we have it. It irks me all the time just how we take it for granted and your story is just one of millions. It must take huge courage to come out in a country like yours and I’m so glad you’re here at the other side and clearly happy, well done!! ❤

It's always so moving when someone finally decides that they LOVE themselves and that that feeling and realization is more important than living in the box that your church or your family is projecting onto you. It took me until age 27 to finally realize my life was for ME to live (grew up in heavily Catholic family and also at the time when there were no gay role models and gay simply equaled dying of AIDS in most people's minds). I know 2-3 people now, TODAY, in American in 2023, in California, in their late 30s, still not comfortable coming out to and potentially losing family, all because of, you guessed it, Religion. It just hurts me and makes me almost cry - I just want to convince them life is soooooo much better on the other side once you claim your adulthood and create boundaries. Thanks for your beautiful words - so many gems in here. There's a lot of work to do, all over the world.
You are a very smart and caring young man. What you are doing is helping others around the world to know they are not alone, and your advice will save lives. Thank you for being honest and sharing your story. By the way, I had to make the decision to cut some of my family members and friends out of my life when I came out, too. It seems harsh, and is by no means an easy decision, but it is ultimately the right decision. No person, even your father, should be allowed to cause you shame and misery. Be proud of who you are to everyone. I'll be proud of you, too.
You expressed yourself so clear. I'm so sorry about every bad moment that you have experienced. But as we can see it couldn't stop you to survive and take your life back. Wow! So impressed with you, your story, intelligence and resilience. I came out in San Francisco in 1980 - moved to Saudi Arabia in 1983 for work, and retired to London in 2015. I know from living in Saudi the pressure/threat and danger you were under - and I'm so impressed at your perseverance in getting to Canada and living your life as you've described. You're so cute - so young - and so positive, your life is going to turn out. just great. I'm 67 years old and the best thing I ever did for myself was come out at 23 years of age. It gave me personal integrity to live in my truth - but I drew back in Saudi for my own protection. Most everyone knew I was gay in Saudi - but they respected the fact that I wasn't flamboyant and obvious - just myself, with no need to wave the rainbow flag and pronounce that I'm "out and proud" - I've never felt the need to do that, even in San Francisco. Just subscribed - and wishing you all the very best in your life as you go forward. Young people give me hope - so glad you didn't have to go through the AIDS fears I did in my youth. God Bless.
Very brave, Matin! 🌈 🙌🏼 We all use that “curious” excuse, for sure 😅 Had similar experiences, the str8 jerks that bullied me in school would also, I would learn later, have “group activities” together! Like, how hypocritical! Hetero guys are just so repressed, and detached, from expressing their emotions in healthy, non-condescending environments so much that they project their own struggles onto others! It took me many years to come to terms with that and learn forgiveness.

Thank you for sharing this story. My husband is from the Middle East and he is still not out to his family. He came to America to go to school as well and that's how we met. Live your best life and find a guy or girl, that treats you with respect and love and holds you number one in their heart.
Wow i really wanna know your story can u please tell?
as an ex muslim gay man from syria i feel represented.. thank u.. xoxo 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈❤❤
I'm Muslim too but alhamdolillah I didn't find happiness of being gay, so I returned to the one who create me by repentance
@bailtv6923 wow mashallah
@@bailtv6923You are sadly brainwashed by that Islamic ideology to think this way, do you realise how many are desperate to leave Islam and be free because of the harm it does to people….it’s likely who had some same sex attraction but you maybe weren’t fully gay and either way this channel isn’t for you then.

Hey I'm a gay Iranian who was born and raised in America. I appreciate you sharing your perspective because culture and religion can translate to even another country. I can't begin to imagine how it would have been growing up with these difficulties with the added extremism and homophobia of Iranian culture. Lots of love
Do you have Instagram?
Oh God Matin is soooooooo irresistibly cute!!!!!!!! The smiles, the goofiness, the cuteness, everything about him is so amazing... I melted into water! Love you Matin! From New York!!! Raj
Hey gay person from india here
😜😁
Aloha!
You should read the bible.
As a Turkish, While watching the video, I thanked to Atatürk and secularism more.
Sadly as of late it seems that we may not keep his values alive and well for too long
Not Turkish but I’ve been to Istanbul. Atatürk was so great for Turkey… democracy and making the Haji Sofia a museum/landmark were awesome things he supported.
You seem like a really sweet and well adjusted person, despite your travails… I hope you find the happiness you deserve with the guy of your dreams. Cheers!
We are so jealous of you guys😂🤍
Yeah, but how does that work in reality?
Too bad you now have Erdogan undoing much of his legacy.
I've been to Turkey it's a beautiful place. Especially Istanbul.
My situation wasn't life threatening, but my parents handled it horribly for YEARS. And I love this comment section, you are so sweet and deserve to be protected!
You're such a good storyteller! Your little reactions are so adorable. Got me cracking up over here 😂
Hey I have a very similar experience as I also left my country (Saudi Arabia) and claimed asylum in the UK (finally got it after two years) during my asylum process I also came out to my family and put them in the same situation (you either accept me or I’m cutting ties) I understand how difficult it’s and you are very brave and I’m very proud that you’re finally able to be your authentic self and building your future while taking care of your mental health. Thank you for making this video and I hope it inspires others to do the same while also being safe. Best of luck to you and I wish you all the best ❤
i am saudi as well and i am going to do what you did
Thank you Matin, for your courageous story.
Baby, can’t deny your cuteness of every giggle at the end of every sentence! 😍 Stay strong!
Btw, your “SHY” smile is really cute and will melt someone’s heart :) really !!

You have an amazing story that needs to be shared with the Muslim, fundamentalist Christian, fundamentalist Jewish, and any other religious beliefs that condemn or deny us our God-given humanity. Kudos for making yourself a happy man. Be at peace.
God didn't made any one gay, if your parents are not gay how you can be.
It's environmental and learned behavior
@@infoentertainment5743 So ask yourself this, how did my environment make me straight? Oh right, my parents are, therefore I am too. Oh and by the way where did I “learn”to be heteronormative? Must have been in the classroom, gymnasium, soccer field or all my teachers? Nobody learns to be LGBTQ+, we are born by God’s creative talent. Thank you God, I love me!

You are a beautiful human being. Thanks for sharing your inspiring story!
It also happens a lot in the us so i kinda disagree with you.
@@cydelamacorra6677 I was not talking about USA or the rest of the world to start with, so you had nothing to disagree with me, your disagreement is with yourself in your head!!!! But if you already want to read between lines, then I will say this:
It is not about that it is not happening anywhere else, it is about how it is addressed ... unlike in the USA or the rest of the world, Islamic countries pretend it does happen or even does not exist!!!! in the USA an American woman would literally murder her partner or anyone who sexually abused her child, not ignore a such complain from her child out of some personal religious shame and disbelief! Once a workmate who was Indian told me that there is no such thing as a gay man in India and that only people in the West are as perverted! It is an attitude most Islamic people have!
😢😢😢
god, glad to hear he’s in the uk now
@@cydelamacorra6677 what's there to disagree with.
It's a fact that sexually repressed countries have more sexual abuse

Being a sodomite is the mortal sin. The Christ can change.

Thank you so much for sharing your story, Matin. You come across as such a sweet soul and I hope the future remains bright for you.

Be proud of who you are to everyone. I'll be proud of you, too.
