I think some of the lightness and enjoyment has to do with the fact that the heavy, sarcastic, negative attiude and vibe that Kimmel always brings has been replaced with Martin Short, a funny and pleasant guy. Refreshing.

Man..Selena is truly amazing. She seems so frikkin sweet, how she just kissed Martin like she does it all day every day. Her laugh, all her work, how much she cares about ppl, and of course she is gorgeous.
Her early acting days set her up financially. Martin and Steve are setting her up mentally and emotionally for the rest of her life. This friendship of theirs is profound and adorable, and proof that it doesn't matter what our differences are, we can all be better to each other, and for each other. Age is just a number, and it shouldn't be a cause for societal separation. People like to call this strange crew weird, and it's great for jokes, but there's nothing weird about mutual admiration, love, and respect. We would all be much better off with more of those things in our lives.
