Each year since 1998 the James Beard Foundation Awards Committee has recognized our nation’s beloved regional restaurants. Distinguished by their timeless appeal, they serve quality food that reflects the character of their communities. We anoint these locally owned restaurants with a James Beard Foundation Award and designate them as America’s Classics.
No one will ever go hungry at St. Elmo’s Steak House in Indianapolis. Every meal at the JBF America's Classics Award-winning restaurant begins with the choice of a cup of navy bean soup or a glass of tomato juice, and the steaks and other hearty entrées are served with a choice of green beans or potatoes (fried, baked, or mashed).
Community-focused and independent restaurants are at the heart of every city, town, and village across America and the world. The James Beard Foundation celebrates restaurants that showcase culinary leadership and provides training and resources for chefs and restaurateurs to use their voices for positive food system change.
Open for Good is the James Beard Foundation’s campaign to help independent restaurants survive this crisis, rebuild better, and thrive for the long term. Open for Good programs provide critical resources to help independent restaurants build the capacity to come back stronger, more equitable, more sustainable, and more resilient. Checked out the menu for this hash house. Order a steak, you get a steak. Want a salad? That's extra. How about a side? Nope, need to order it. By the time you're through, your $37.00 piece of meat is now $50.00, and that is for one diner. If you wanna pay, I'm ready to go. Otherwise, no thanks. I can steak at home.

Then eat a steak at home and quit bitching about a steakhouses menu prices, how much are you spending on an expensive meal? $50 is a cheap dinner if it's an expensive meal like at say a steakhouse. You sound like you're the kind of person to bitch at McDonald's because "you can make a better burger" than make one and shut the hell up.
