We got into hydroplane racing in 64 .
    Battle creek Michigan.
Dad started building these hydros for me and others. In the day it was Alki .
He built a B hydro for the old Konig Looper conversion engine he had bought from Mini Msrten I believe.
Got a brand new in the box cosmoline and straw B engine complete with red fuel tank.
He built Chuck Peter's a C boat ,cloth deck, for his Cresent C engine, Gary Gresley a D hydro cloth deck and a F hydro 14.6 ft. Cloth deck.
He built later stile all wood deck with the Loweri 4 point bottom of dad's own design.
Never forget all the good times with all those friends. Lyle, Ray, Helen Mason and Terry Reniger out of Bc too.
Came to Florida and ran 250 hydro down here. The only change there was Between the North and the South was we got older !!!!
Still have my 1985 Pugh hydro in 250 design. F74 250

Geez those bring back memories, I racked 20H toilet bowl till we went to Champion hotrod with rotary valve, got a kj-7 out in the shed now.
Back in the 90's we set a world record with the 15 cu. Inch champion, over 72 mph

Running airplane fuel in a stock 20H is just foolish and totally unnecessary.

      Untrue

Gasoline is not a standardized compound. Many service stations sell sub standard fuel... Water, alcohol, goop, low octane... You need to know. Airplane gas is safer.
For real racing alcohol is often used.
Money is an issue, maybe not for these little motors. But an offshore will easily consume 3K in a few hours....
      Miss the good old days.

Yup. 😅 even with a float less Alki carb. Lol
Chuck White out of Michigan Center use to use a rose bud tip and heat the cylinder head up on the old mercs just till they dropped a little to raise compression for alcohol fuel.
Built an ALL ROLLER bearing 327 Chevy that turn exotic RPM's.
      And never came apart.
I saw this engine when we visited his shop in MI. Center one night.
We had gone there with Ray and Lyle Mason. We needed the conversion fuel pump for the 20 H

Yes, can't put a 7 hp band on a 10 or 20 Cusic in motor.
And the band said hurricane and that's a 20 cu in motor band/tank.
Also it was called muslin not canvas.
Not being nasty here by all means. Just saying.
I have a mark 7 here in my house.
It's a clone to my dad's 7 he bought around the time we were born. My twin ( I hope ) still has dad's motor and Arkansas Travler combo dad bought new back then.
12 feet boat aluminum front deck which doubled as the air tank for safety in case it sunk
