What impresses me the most about this show (aside from the uber-clever writing) is how fleshed out it seemed from the get go. Usually characters will be tweaked over the first several episodes until they find a good angle to work from, but everyone on this show is exactly as they were in the pilot because no changes were needed. It's still funny to think that Mitch Hurwitz went from writing The Golden Girls to this. I'm sure he did stuff in between, but to go from a traditional sitcom to this zaniness is spectacular.
Arnett and Bateman did not know each other before Arrested. I heard that recently but I'm not sure if it was on their own podcast or when Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson interviewed Will on their new podcast. 😃
I think the point of serialised comidies being newer at the time is interesting, and maybe Ron Howards narration is supposed to help contextualise things for people randomly tuning in to an episode
i fully agree about ensemble comedy, all my faves are that type of show. have you guys seen What We Do in the Shadows (the movie or the series) ? i bet you'd like it.
White Power Bill stabbing Gob while saying "White Power!" and then Gob confusedly saying "I'm white" is one of my favourite jokes, if not my actual favourite joke of all time
"I've made a huge mistake" is probably my most quoted line from this show
That's my second favorite. The other one hasn't come up yet - can't wait for that.
Is it?

The Bluth stair car is so iconic that it makes cameos in other things, like the animated show Archer and Captain America: Civil War
he beat me to it.

Gob's weak "Ta-da" gets me every time! Every episode has about ten quotable lines. It's so good!
During the airport fight scene in Captain America Civil War, the Bluth stair cart is in the background on the tarmac

If you want another british show when you finish Derry Girls I nominate The IT Crowd.
They should have never replaced the other Marta!
I came into AD by catching a random joke when flipping through channels. To me, the beauty of this show is how amusing it is with or without context.
Liza is sticking around
