The public at large didn’t quite get this show during its initial run, but it would’ve been a SMASH today and Liza would have had the acclaim that Jennifer Coolidge is (rightfully) enjoying right now. She is absolutely BRILLIANT in this role. Love her.

She was already an Emmy winner long before this show, along with an Oscar, Tony, Grammy and many other awards. She has literally won every award there is in show business pretty much.

I was never a big Liza fan, but that changed when she became Lucille 2. I love that she doesn't take herself too seriously. I love her. What a legend.
She's the complete package just like her amazing mom. Acting, singing, dancing, comedy and drama. I love that she deliberately sings badly because her character can't carry a tune. 😂 She's fantastic ❤

You don’t need much more documentation to know that Liza Minnelli is freaking brilliant.
The moment it jumps to the Netflix seasons it immediately feels off. It’s insane how the revival failed to capture the feel of the originals.
It should have started on Netflix.
It's partially because when they filmed the fourth season they hardly had the actors in the same room. The strip was a downer to begin with. And the chemistry and timing that made the original so brilliant was non-existent. Because the actors were not in the same place at the same time.
It reminded me to be careful what you wish for. Sometimes you don't need a revival. You just need the show to be as brilliant as it was.
@BeRealForReal Netflix didn't start streaming until 2007. Arrested Development debuted in 2003. So Netflix would have needed to invent a streaming service, and a time machine.
Netflix is notorious for canceling shows after 3 seasons when contracts are usually renegotiated so even if this had premiered ten years later on netflix it would have suffered the same fate@@BeRealForReal

Liza as Lucille II was one of the most underrated performances ever. And the storyline with Buster is literally one of the best storylines of television.
My goodness! The first clip is priceless. Two comedic geniuses going at it. And the interplay between Jessica Walter and Liza is seamless. I would put the first clip in a time capsule - along with the declaration of independence, of course.

I watched the behind the scenes shooting and it was mind-altering to me how she turned the acting on and off between shots. It looked awkward and out of place until it dawned on me that it was SO professional l almost couldn’t handle the cringe of it. Then you see the actual scene take and your mind is blown to see it turn into gold only she saw. It astonished me and she stood out like a sore thumb among the “regular” people. Something not average inside that woman. Pure brilliance.
Always loved the pun of the name Austero (austerity, or broke); meanwhile, Lucille 2 ended up owning them all. 😂
She is absolutely phenomenal, the way she raises her chest in an exasperated manner when Michael confesses awful things to her. What an absolute star and phenom. Please stay with us just a bit longer!
I feel like, in choosing these kind of wacky and hilarious roles, Liza was in many ways choosing for herself the witty, wonderful roles that her mother would have played if she could have. She looks and sounds so much like her mother it’s like a gift that keeps on giving
