On this day, the gorillas were presented with two large frozen fruits.
Momotaro and Gentaro started eating first.
For some reason, Kintaro tries to take Momotaro's ice instead of Gentaro's.
Of course, Momotaro will never give Kintaro.
So Kintaro next went to get Gentaro's ice.
Finally, Kintaro and Genki ate the ice that Gentaro ate halfway.
By the way, small frozen fruits were placed in various places so that all the gorillas could eat them.

⭐️Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
Born in Ueno Zoo on July 3, 2000.
His father is Biju and his mother is Momoko.
His father died before he was born and he grew up never knowing his father.
He came to Kyoto City Zoo in 2010 and is now a father of two sons.
⭐️Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Born on June 24, 1986 at the Kyoto City Zoo.
Her father is Mack and her mother is Hiromi.
When she was 10 years old, she went to Ueno Zoo for breeding purposes.
But she had a bad relationship with another female gorilla, and she injured her fingers and toes with her self-mutilation and lost a lot of weight.
When she returned to her hometown of Kyoto City Zoo, she was fine, and she lived with various male gorillas.
Then she met Momotaro and she gave birth to two lovely sons whom she lovingly raised.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at the Kyoto City zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
He is very close with his younger brother Kintaro and they play together almost every day.
⭐️Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at Kyoto City Zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.

Feels refreshing but actually has the opposite effect to cooling because the body has to burn energy to warm up what the cold substance is cooling.

@@garryiglesias4074 Most of the Gorilla or Pimates in modern Zoos are rescued from illegal organised crime, often baby's who's mother was killed by hunters the rest where born in the zoos or captivity. Some are part of breading and reintroduction into the wild like the "Damian Aspinal foundation".
They should have made one for each of them !

Seriously?!! One piece of ice covered fruit is NOT a good idea. This fruit should have either been frozen into 4 pieces (one for each gorilla) or chopped into 4 pieces. This would avoid infighting among these magnificent animals. They all love the coolness and the embedded fruit. Please pause and think before you zoo keepers create animosity that you started!

I know Kintaro didn't get to eat as much as he wanted in this video but for two days straight he got his own ice treat all by himself and Momo watched him. So there's that.

Momotaro and Gentaro would have claimed them either way. Silverbacks and blackbacks eat first and get first choice.
It's a weird setup in captivity so I understand the sentiment.

It might feel refreshing to eat frozen treats when it's hot but it actually makes your body hotter because your body has to use energy to keep your body warm and at normal temperature.

Kintaro is much more dominant than Gentaro which is why Kintaro barely moves when his brother tries to "intimidate" him. The zookeepers have conditioned Gentaro to be that way on purpose.
I love Genki and Kintaro. Despite being the lowest on the totem pole they find ways of getting what they want. Between Genki throwing her poop and Kintaro being quick to grab pieces behind Momo’s back. They are survivors 😂

Ok, this Zoo needs to do better. One big piece of ice is put out on a blanket which quickly becomes a big piece of ice on the dirt! Couldn't they have put it in a bin like the one they use to put out with water? And why one big piece when they know Momo will not allow anyone else to get any. There living conditions is awful... it saddens me to see this.

I think she is continually having dental issues. The high heat isn’t good either.
I think it's a combination of things: (1) now that she isn't breastfeeding Kintaro, she's lost weight. Some of it is normal.
(2) unpopular opinion: stress and anxiety are taking its toll on her.
Mother gorillas don't normally have this much contact with their blackback sons. And in this specific case, Gentaro has terrorized Genki since he started maturing. (There are plenty videos of it.) Gentaro has gotten much bigger & the blows land harder. Genki has always had anxiety issue. And when Gentaro gets in his "play/challenging mood," Genki is the one who gets hit.
I'm sure the zoo is well-intentioned. I believe they love these animals. But I have no idea why they ignore Genki's wellbeing. Especially when we can obviously see how specific situations stress her out...
I'll end with this: there ares reasons why blackbacks are separated from their natal groups in a zoo setting. It's for the wellbeing of the troop. Humans have trouble with understanding how group dynamics can effect individual mental/physical wellbeing.

Meus dois amores Kintaro e Genki, porque não congela as frutas separadamente e depois coloca em uma vasilha ou bacia, ficaria mais higiênico e mais fácil, por parecer com um picolé, eu quero ver variedades de alimentos em quantidade satisfatórias no mínimo, Genki emagreceu bastante, seu rosto inchou, mas cadê o Veterinário para começar o tratamento odontológico, e realizar outros exames, ela está emagrecendo comendo, é preocupante, precisa de exames, mas não espero mais nada de bom desse Zoo.

The unfortunate thing about picking up food from the ground is that it fills up with grit and abrasive dirt, which prematurely wears down the teeth.

Did they even get to the fruit? Why not give them the fresh fruit instead of one big block of ice? Poor Kintaro got hit and chased away by all 3 gorillas. The zoo should've given all 4 a fair share of fruits which they hardly ever get. All they eat is grass and leaves, they need to eat more than just that.

I’m to the point of not reading comments. Popsicles! Should hand out popsicles every hour. The baby was adorable but I feel kind of bad for him. Did Gentaro eat before momma a new hierarchy thing or was momma just waiting?
Perhaps it would be nicer if all animals had a chance to eat the frozen fruits. Chop the block up and position the bits round the enclosure. It's not rocket science.
