Now we know why Momotaro goes crazy whenever he sees the work crews pass by his enclosure. Because it's a reminder of the noisy men with the hard hats ⛑️ that transferred him to his new home and stressed him out with the loud talking, banging and lack of respect when they transferred him. They created a great deal of anxiety for him. I hope their procedures have gotten better through the years.
Yeah I thought the same thing. I've watched abt 20 vids with this animal. He doesnt respond as the other 3 do? I dont like zoo's & I dont like the enclosure they have them in....Seems cruel all the screaming kids & announcements & bells going off.............So much for the jungle filled with trees & birds etc.........
You have said exactly what i was about to write about on the kyoto City Zoo page. This video was so insane and disrespectful to the gorilla. I didn't like it, not one bit.😢
I really have the upmost respect for the Zookeeper's and the way they approach the whole situation. Momo was clearly scared and pissed off, but they handled it brilliantly. The man with the gun hid it behind his back , as I think to not display any sort of threat or extra anxiety for the beloved silverback. They all also stayed mostly out of the windows view, which maybe was to also let Momo assimilate and not have dear or angst against the Human helpers. What a Fantastic Video! Too all of the workers at the Kyoto City Zoo, thank you for your precise yet gentle work transporting the Big Boy! I have so much appreciation and respect for the work and care you put into your very important jobs!💕🦍🌏💕
Well this video is saying this was an anniversary for momot. It's 11 years ago today he came to the kyoto zoo.The transfer seems to have gone smoothly, but momot was stressed out, understandable, but his male keeper talked to him to calm him down, that was good.Thank you for showing how momot came to the zoo.
It is amazing to understand more precisely the size and strength of an adult gorilla! Momotaro at this time was the same age as Gentaro today, but it seems that for him maturity came much earlier. What a spectacular animal!
The hypocrisy of so many human beings...in ⛩️temples you have to keep silence since it's "Sacred/Holy" ground but, in presence of creatures it's not their right to be respected.
I enjoyed watching this video, when momotaro got out that cage he was mad, he let out such a roar, now he have a wife and two sons, I love the momotaro family.
The amount of effort and coordination that goes into caring for just one animal is staggering, and a testament to the love the keepers have for the animals to ensure they're made as comfortable as possible even in stressful periods of transition. Momotaro's story is incredibly inspiring.
Well said Michael … I watched in awe!! Congrats to the Team!! No one likes moving day!! What a strong & beautiful primate…Momo we wish you a long and wonderful life ❤️❤️❤️
Their was nothing comfortable about that transfer. The noise was so loud and their procedures needyo be chsnged. The comfort and mental stress on Momotaro was not taken in consideration.
It was good to see Gentaro’s human foster father giving Momotaro a drink and talking to him. I was looking for Miss Hina and then remembered that this all happened 11 years ago, she was probably still at school then. Momotaro has never forgiven the men in white hats. 🙋♀️🦍🇬🇧
Oh Momotaro what you've been through... 😢 As soon as he got out and saw the human beings through the window he expressed his anger! I'm happy to think that he's today doing well and living with his wife and two children.
This really make me cry and say wow what a strengt momotaro-san have. And his row was powerfull. And now he is older and wiser but stronger and powerfull. I understand what stress this is for all and more for momotaro-san
Fascinating. Looks like Momo’s transfer went smoothly. poor fellow though. Very scary for him. He let out a roar when he first came out of cage. I think this is where his white hard hat “enemy” association started. Gentaro’s human dad was there to climb in the truck and comfort momo in his cage before transferring to indoor enclosure. Ugh. Gentaro has to go through this soon. Dread the day. Hate to think how scared he’ll be. Hate to think of them having moments of unhappiness 🦍♥️
Oh yes, you are right! Gentaro has to go through this too! It's heartbreaking to think about it!😪 I hope his foster dad or Miss Hina can give him attendance during the first few days in his new home!

Wow! I have a lump in my throat watching how Momotaro was transported to this very caring zoo! All steps were precision coordinated to prevent any undue discomfort trip for Momotaro. Sure Momotaro is frightened but how does anyone explain to an animal, even one as strong as Momotaro what is happening and even why. Incredible work by the transport team! Thank you for sharing.
Are you kidding? Poor Momotaro. That was awfully stressful to watch. I can only imagine how scared and confused he must have been. Those zookeepers should have been a lot more organized and remained quiet instead of all that yelling and banging going on. It probably would have been a lot less traumatic for him. I think that these beautiful creatures should be kept out in the wild, NOT in some cramped, concrete, and steel enclosure!!
@@hawaiibound. I totally agree with you but at the same time captivity is a reality unfortunately. But still they should never see concrete or steel and also m have minimum human contact . Momotaro family ❤ 2023
My poor baby Momotaro. The keeper was very kind to say soft words to him and give him water. Momotaro and his family could come love with me 🤷🏽♀️❤️🦍😍 Sending much love from the U.S.A (NYC)🙏🏽
I have such a profound sense of love for Momotaro ( as well as Genki, Gentaro & Kintaro) that I had to keep wiping tears from my eyes as surely the actual transfer must have been frightening enough for him, & all the unusual sounds & so many loud voices must have been *terrifying* for him...What a relief that all went smoothly....
@HerrStaale still doesn't mean he was used to all that noise. Til this day he expresses his anger whenever he sees workers with hard hats pass by his enclosure. He lets out loud roars and bangs on the glass when they pass by the enclosure. He is still traumatized from his transfer and has a long memory. 13:02
Incredible and surprising! See how Momotaro got to the Zoo ... and see how many men it took to bring a single gorilla to the Zoo ... but it was worth it ... we can realize the strength of a single gorilla, I adore Momotaro and I see this video every day just to observe the behavior of the whole family (Genski, Gentaro and Gintaro) .... what beautiful gorillas !! Please provide a lot MORE FOOD for these gorillas ... don't feed them like humans ... they are immensely powerful animals capable of breaking a human head with just a slap to the face !!!
wow it's already 11 years. thank to the zoo,if he's in the wild . he'll not survive this long.....now he have wife and child.....thank u zoo worker and visitor helping the fund.
Love watching Momotaro and his family. It is heartbreaking to watch this video. He must have been so terrified. Thankfully it went smoothly but I think the handlers should have been less noisy. The quiet might have made him less agitated.
So interesting to watch although it sure put a lump in my throat! Momotaro has done well and the Momotaro family has done well too! Thank you so much for sharing! 💜🦍
I'm glad to see how this wonderful gorilla came to the Kyoto zoo. My only question is why are these people wearing helmets? If Momotaro somehow escaped, I don't think a helmet would do much good. It seemed that the structure was sound, so...what's with the helmets?
This was amazing and exciting to watch and I can see why it would call for a lot of staff around to assist with the smooth transition. I do however, think that it may have helped if everyone was more quiet. It was distracting for me just listening through the video I can only imagine how agitated it made Momotaro who was in a small cage after a ride and not knowing what’s happening and who was around him. I hope 11 years later the staff considers keeping the talking to a minimum and only those who need to give instruction. It might help them to at least not be afraid from all the noise on top of everything else that has to take place.
110% agree although to be fair, when you compared this gorilla video vs those in US and UK, the visitors are waaaay more rude and loud vs all the videos I’ve seen here where ppl are more polite.
If you use a computer and put the cursor at 09:32, and continually replay the like, two seconds after that, you can see what Momotaro thought of the whole thing! Lol! But yeah, I sure wish there was a way humans and gorillas could communicate somewhat though... For the times when they are transferring between zoos. I can't imagine what goes through the gorilla's head during that time. Thanks for sharing that anyway, very cool! I had never witnessed that before.
Momotaro was so agitated. He clearly did not enjoy his trip to Kyoto. But now he is at home with his family. And, I hope Kyoto will be his home for the rest of his life.
Thank you for Sharing all of these videos of the best mommy and daddy ever.. I never seen any of this footage,, I only seen the child approve version of Genki and Momotaro being together. He looks so young,, and Genki was watching at the small window of her husband coming into the closure for the first time it’s true love.
I wonder whether today such a transfer would be done more quietly and more smoothly with more automation of bringing his transport cage to the enclosure? By the time Gentaro must move, I hope so.
Now we know why Momotaro goes crazy whenever he sees the work crews pass by his enclosure. Good point. I wonder if they could have tranquilized or given some calming dosage.
Yes,at least they could have been less vocal, they all didn’t need to be talking at the same time. Humans can be so self important.

This broke my heart. Imaging the fear of being locked in that cage in darkness not knowing what is ahead of him. Brought tears to my eyes.
Me too! So upsetting. People should not have talking constantly, there should have been more quiet for him.
I'm surprised they didnt sedate him to make it less stressful.
I can't sedate him, he's a big animal and could choke left on his own. Still upsetting though.

My poor baby Momotaro. The keeper was very kind to say soft words to him and give him water. Momotaro and his family could come love with me 🤷🏽♀️❤️🦍😍
Sending much love from the U.S.A (NYC)🙏🏽
I have such a profound sense of love for Momotaro ( as well as Genki, Gentaro & Kintaro) that I had to keep wiping tears from my eyes as surely the actual transfer must have been frightening enough for him, & all the unusual sounds & so many loud voices must have been *terrifying* for him...What a relief that all went smoothly....
He took it very well, he was born in captivity
@HerrStaale still doesn't mean he was used to all that noise. Til this day he expresses his anger whenever he sees workers with hard hats pass by his enclosure. He lets out loud roars and bangs on the glass when they pass by the enclosure. He is still traumatized from his transfer and has a long memory. 13:02
This is what the internet should be. I love this channel!
What a treat. Thanks for sharing behind the scenes footage. Loved it.
So interesting to watch although it sure put a lump in my throat! Momotaro has done well and the Momotaro family has done well too! Thank you so much for sharing! 💜🦍
Thanks for the video of Momotaro's moved from Ueno zoo to Kyoto zoo. Welcome to Kyoto zoo and met Genki....Momo...😍😍
Thank you very much . To share this video. It is a inportend view 👍. Thanks for all the zookeepers. Sending my regards. From the Netherlands 🇳🇱🇳🇱⚘⚘

Wow! Monotario has really grown, and what a beautiful family he has now, thanks to you and all your wonderful hardworking team ❤
I'm glad to see how this wonderful gorilla came to the Kyoto zoo. My only question is why are these people wearing helmets? If Momotaro somehow escaped, I don't think a helmet would do much good. It seemed that the structure was sound, so...what's with the helmets?
You can see the relief of everyone when the task is done👍
I have had many good times watching this. wonderful gorilla family. Thank you all so much for sharing them with us.
I absolutely agree I thought there was way too much talking too much noise that would bother me let alone animal in a cage
110% agree although to be fair, when you compared this gorilla video vs those in US and UK, the visitors are waaaay more rude and loud vs all the videos I’ve seen here where ppl are more polite.
It’s heartbreaking to watch how stressed he was. It’s understandable.
Very valuable video indeed. Momotaro so scared , frustrated , upset and it all went well. The power he has is remarkable. 👍👍
My heart would skip a beat everytime I heard him hit the cage. I cannot imagine how it was for all involved. Great 👍 job 😘
NOSSA!! É DE ARREPIAR,VER ESSE TRANSPORTE BEM SEGURO,,QUE LOGÍSTICA!!
Yikes.
Its wonderfull to see momo came to the zoo and have the families
Wow! Thanks for sharing this video! Never seen this one before.❤❤❤
Dude is holding a rifle like it’s Jurassic Park
Uma verdadeira operação de guerra. Observem quanto cuidado por parte dos tratadores! Lindo!
Poor Momo probably was so scared! But at least he'd start a family there and be happy!
This was my first time watching this video wonderful!! I always too know how Momo came to the zoo!!! Thank you 🦍💋💕💕
Great throwback videos...it made me emotional...
Bendiciones
I keep watching this video of when my handsome Momotaro joined the zoo🎉🎉He has become a very loved gorilla around the world❤❤❤
Such a Precious Package was delivered on that day ♥️♥️♥️
I wonder whether today such a transfer would be done more quietly and more smoothly with more automation of bringing his transport cage to the enclosure? By the time Gentaro must move, I hope so.
The noise was distressing, off the charts.
Is this where Momotaro's dislike of the "white hats" comes from ...?
Love seeing these old videos.
