    Its not chopping the onion that the problem , as I use very sharp Wusthof Cooks knife. No, its the brown paper outer husk layer that's fiddly. If you chop the onion but leave the husk layer on its full of papery brown bits. If you try and peel off the papery husk it breaks and leaves bits on the onion which you then have to use your nails to get underneath to hack off. Its a horrible job. I want an easy method so the brown papery husk comes off easily without hacking off with your nails leaving a whole clean onion. Has anyone managed a good method?

      Just cut both ends and you can grab the skin and peel it off. You can also make a little cut on the body of the onion to get an end of the skin. Practice will make you faster everyday

    • @mff7819
      @mff7819 2 года назад

      stick a fork or knife in root end and take your propane torch and quicky burn around the whole onion, the dry paper will burn but not catch fire the rinse to put out embers and rub under water and the non usable paper part comes off easy and leaves the usable part intact.

    Well in the restaurant, if you want to peel onions and then expect them to keep for the next 2 to 7 days, it's best not to split a layer. Then you have to be a little fussy about the peeling.. but you know, get a rhythm going and it's done. Are the restaurants.. they're so. I've been peeling onions for 15 years.. and someone with.. 'certain problems' can't handle it if you don't leave the onions to sort of wilt in the fridge, sloppily peeled. It's this way everywhere, you can't peel a onion
