    Don't WASTE all those red bits. Set aside, use a big flat spoon. Great for smoothies

    Campground 4th of July picnic. Wife buys a watermelon and of course after watching Richs video, I volunteered to cut it up. Rich was right.....less than 5 minutes.....easy peasy!!!!

      I wish I could tell you, I have had it for so long, it was probably a hand me down from grandparents. It's a serrated knife that I also use to cut brisket and other meat.

    This is a very similar technique to what I use as a produce clerk. If you happen to have a heavier knife, that helps, and then you can use your off hand to push down on the back side of the blade for an easier shave. The only other thing he does differently is he cuts it in half lengthwise whereas I cut it in half standing upright (but still left to right across the midsection). The final result is the same, although I prefer larger chunks because they sell better at the store, which doesn't matter when you're at home.

      Not as much as it looked, at least in my opinion. Less than an 1/8 inch of meat, if that, most of the time. Much more waste when you slice and eat it off the rind. Thanks for watching and I will pay more attention to that when I cut going forward.
