How to Make Instant Pot Tri-Tip - Perfect for Beginners

- I wasn't introduced to Tri-tip until about 3 years ago. I didn't realize what I was missing! It is a very juicy cut of meat that has become of my favorites!
Usually I grill Tri-tips but I was curious how it would do in the Instant Pot. I bought my tri-tips at Costco and it came with 2 of them for $23 dollars. That is cheaper than a roast!
So if you are curious how to make Instant Pot Tri-Tip, just follow along! It is so easy!
HOW DO YOU CUT A TRI-TIP?
When carving, the trick is to carve the tri-tip against the grain, which can change directions in this cut. To solve this, I recommend slicing the roast in two at the place where the fibers change direction, then carve each piece separately.
WHAT CUT OF BEEF IS A TRI-TIP?
If you’re not familiar with it, the tri-tip is a small, boneless, triangular cut from the sirloin. It usually weighs about 1 1/2-2 pounds. It resembles a thick, slightly lopsided boomerang that is laced throughout with just the right amount of marbled fat. Even though it’s a lean cut, the marbling contributes to its flavor and tenderness.

Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

I'm a butcher in Nebraska and tri tips are my favorite!!! I've had mi e about 2 years. I sear mine then smoke em at 185 degrees for just around 2 hours. We go through tons of tri tip at my work.

Hey! Living out in Tracy Ca, had my instant pot for about 9 mths. That's when I started following you, I love using the instant pot and my husband is obsessed with my tri-tip. I make it on the grill with about 12 poked slices in the meat and stuff sliced garlic in each cut. Good old salt, pepper and toss on the grill. Comes out medium well on outer areas and medium in the middle. So juicy and full of flavor, I need to try it on the instant pot for sure. Thanks for your posts

I got mine in Oct 2018 and opened it the day I got it. I posted a picture of it in Facebook and jokingly asked how long I had to wait before I could use it. 😁 I watched a lot of your videos and decided to cook a pot roast for the first meal. I don't get the chance to cook as much as I would like to, but I've made several amazing meals with it. Tonight I cooked a rotisserie chicken for the first time and it was delicious! I'm in South Carolina and this pot sure beats heating up my kitchen.

I bought my 8 qt last fall becase my rice maker wasn't cutting it and the sale of sales was going on for it. It makes 2-3 times the rice for my dog's gourmet chicken and rice food. Also works well for most everything I used to do on the stove in much less time with much greater flavor. I have gotten tons of tips from you on techniques and accessories. I love seeing your smiling as that makes me smile too. Please no funny faces, as I worry about you and even a bad day Is good if we learn from it. Keep up the great work.

Love my new one it’s the pioneer woman one so it has pretty flowers.. love the fact I can cook a whole chicken in less than an hour and it shreds perfectly!. It never hurts to have more than one!😊
