I’m a multimillionaire and just sold my supercar. My happiness didn’t change. I’m happy working, going to the gym, spending time in my camper van, eating out, travelling and watching Netflix

Hey dear multimillionaire ............ How about sending me few millions? Wouldn't change anything in your happiness but would add a lot in my happiness :) . BTW if you can't send me, its okay. But how about teaching me, "How to earn millions"? That way I can make my own ;)

The only mistake you could make about happiness is to make it a goal or necessity or daily pursuit, because if you do so and someday you fail to do this thing, you would blame your lack of consistency or regularity as the rock of hindrance that stops you from happiness. But it is the maniac obsession of you that does stop you.
Buying something cheap, or something expensive doesn't make me happy. That makes me either satisfied or not satisfied. It fulfills my requirements or it doesn't. I am still not sure why he said '70 dollars would make me happy in the long run." That made the least sense to me, to be true.
And, the most important thing - the thing he calls 'Happiness Paradox' is itself derived by an innocent assumption that people are always rational, or people always know what they want, or what they don't want. They don't. Sometimes, they have this clarity, many a times, they feel lost. And they choose different things on different occasions (or in different context), which even psychology supports. People even say they want their cities clean, but they hardly go up there to show their contribution. Most don't. So that means they are in 'cleaning paradox'?
PS - This entire Ted Talk is just first chapter of the book. Is that it in the entire book, I wonder?

Amazing! Although I think a better way should be found to cunduct the surveys, because they lieee. I know that either by not realising, being lazy, scared or by not knowing the impact of their soul killing careers, the stats are closer to 3 out of 10, who would sacrifice for the career that really makes them happy.

Happiness is a subjective whereas money and material aspects of life are quantifiable. so I guess people in a transactional world go after quantifiables that they can exchange for happiness ( like money, eating, travel, house , car etc) in life rather than this vague aspect Happiness in life.Once a person has made such a choice, this trend continues all thru the life and they can not extricate from this mindset even after they have accumulated lots of these quantifiables. Very few people pause to think anew. So the life goes on , under a misplaced choices made early in life , may be till retirement .
