Beige doesn't work for everyone. My rule of thumb is to wear 2 neutrals (black, white, beige, gray, navy) with one bright color that pops. I also generally stick to solids in my larger clothing pieces and keep plaids and prints to scarves and accessories. I like the Mary Janes. Very practical.
@@artby1285 Putting an outfit together is actually easier than most women think. French women (at least from what I've observed in traveling in France) tend to be a bit more conservative in their color choices than American women. I think we like clear colors that have a little more contrast. As for your RUclips Channel comment, if you meant me that was a nice thing to say! I admire those who put up these channels. They are so often full of useful advice. I'm watching them all the time. But I'm an actress still trying to get on the big screen, so one goal at a time. :) All the best.
Yep. Grey and beige both make me look like roadkill and I’m too clumsy and careless to get away with wearing white. My style tends much more towards Spanish extravaganzas of color and pattern (I own way too much Desigual). But I own a lot of black clothes, and solid color tops to go with all my patterned bottoms and purses and very brightly-colored shoes. And I don’t wear jeans often, but denim jackets and blazers are must haves.
I love the masculine/grungy but still classic vibe of these styles. And then the mary janes, the silk scarf or that gorgeous dress contrasting that so beautifully. I think that yin-yang balance is always very alluring. The model reminds me of my sister, that was cute!
i've been building a capsule wardrobe for a few years now! i love wearing basics and quality pieces and styling in different ways. i'm also inspired by french/parisian style so this was great to watch and helpful too! xx
@@howtomakeyourlifeeasier well i live in south africa so i just try to find pieces i like from reasonably priced brands like woolworths, h&m, cotton on and sometimes mango. i also thrift from time to time too! :)
I enjoyed watching this presentation and agree that less is more more often than not. I like a classic look with good, solid pieces that can stand up over time. Thank you, Camille. 👍💖
I have such trench coat I bought after falling in love in Parisian style:) I will wear it even at my 80s. Adore both this channel and Camille. Thank You 🌷
Since I’m not a skinny brunette (I wish I was!) I’m thinking of replacing beige with camel, black with deep blue, white with cream, and horizontal stripes with vertical or another flattering stripe or pattern. I like her colorful scarf and evening dress. Thanks for this video! I have too many experimental clothes!
I'm neither skinny nor a brunette, either (the latter is fine, but the pounds need to go!). I can do beige, but black and white are too harsh for me. Cream, ivory and ecru instead of white... And in winter especially I could live in charcoal which is my "black alternative". 😊
I was just in Paris last week and had a very similar outfit to the 1st one but my trench coat and cardigan were in the lighter grey shades, my jeans light blue and had black converse on matching my mini black bag and black sunnies. I only just watched this video without releasing I had been totally blending in Paris, clothing wise at least, haha. Nice
I really loved this..such helpful advice and truly agree that each and every one of these are fashion classics...tried and tested over centuries. Loved this video!❤
I love the fact that the jeans don't have to be dragging the ground.🙄 Since I am quite tall I can never find them long enough, and with these styles I can finally buy jeans...great video. Can't wait to see more😊
I really like the beige cardigan since the weather in the UK is absolutely miserable at the moment so cardigan + trench coat are so much needed for now. Thank you for the inspirations xx
This is the best video I've seen on this subject- not preachy, just sensible. Love Mary Janes, I feel like I could run a marathon in mine and they take you anywhere, worn with anything :)
The Mary Jane is such a beautiful shoe! I'm planning to get a pair as soon as I save up 💖. They'll be perfect with this silk dress I'm planning to sew too!
I agree wholeheartedly about sticking with non-stretch jeans but they are impossible to find. Designers/manufacturers nowadays make nothing but stretch jeans. Absolutely awful!
May I suggest Kowtow? Everything is made of 100% organic cotton and having owned many pairs of their jeans I can attest to their quality and lack of stretch 🙂
Seamless underwear and bandeau bra (for example “laura” from intimissimi). You don’t have to be a size zero to wear a slip silk dress. I’ve seen ladies of all shapes wearing it. Its about the right undergarment and the confidence.
@@LouisaKloe I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing a bandeau or strapless bra. Not enough support. Other people don't care but I wouldn't want to be all hanging out
The problem with this look is that its most compelling to foreigners. And has its most profound effect outside of France. But since it's a basic look, and quite common--and a uniform--it doesn't 'pop' to the local population. That's why so many Parisian youth veer toward edgey hipster looks.

@@mariabarnes9197 I agree with what you said, but most Parisians and Europeans , in general, buy simple, classic, higher quality clothing and use accessories to make their look “them”.
