I am blown away by this these translations. The translations implications for the story for Tears of the Kingdom has my mind racing even more. The fact that the translations are possibly hinting that Demise’s Curse is coming to an end is awesome. I am also surprised that one of the translations includes the word Twilight. This beyond exciting.

Seeing as one of the translations talk about a dragon lord, maybe that mysterious figure seen in the stone carvings in the latest trailer is the same dragon lord mentioned in one of the translations. Perhaps this supposed Dragon Lord was the leader of the Zonai Tribe. Maybe the mysterious Spiritual Hand seen grasping Ganondorf’s corpse belongs to this Dragon Lord? Just some ideas for this possible translation.

One thing I want to point out (I'm having a hard time really understanding the process so I could be wrong) but the parts talking about the dragon being blue: The japanese word for Blue - Ao (which in think is what is being used here) can also be used to mean Green. The modern Japanese word for green - Midori - is fairly new. Older Japanese would use the word Ao for both Blue and Green (not just Japan, but lots of languages did this in the past actually before colour theory was developed more) Anyway, all that to say I think with the green colouring of the dragons in the logo, and the fact that we know Farrosh (the green dragon) resides over the spring of courage and is linked with the Zonai, that this translation should probably be the "Dragon is Green", not blue.
With all the discussion around the sun in these translations, I can’t help but wonder if there’s a connection to TOTK’s new apparent solar patterns. The initial interpretation, “daylight comes and goes, but the sun never sets” had me thinking. Some people have pointed out that it appears the sun sets in the north, casting shadows differently than how we saw in BOTW. Could be simply an aesthetic choice, but potentially a pretty big plot point if there is a narrative reason behind the sun taking on a different trajectory across the sky. Just a thought!
Hey, I don’t mean to be a killjoy, but I read Japanese, and the Japanese sentences still look mostly nonsensical. I feel like the fact that Japanese has so few phonemes is causing people to see words and ideas in what is basically nonsense. If somebody has a cleaned up version of the Japanese text, I’d love to be wrong! That said, what I see now is utterly weird Japanese. You could take almost any assortment of randomly ascribed hiragana and try to make sense of it the way you guys are
From what I understand, they have a few Japanese and native Japanese speaking who have been helping. I know a couple of others who speak Japanese that have offered to help. Maybe you could reach out and discuss your thoughts with Zoey or them and see where the disagreements are or help in another way.
@@GameOverJesse I'm not sure how to reach out, but one random example out of many is making だいえん・大円 mean "big circle" in the translation. Not only would this be an incredibly obscure word for "big circle," it also in general does not mean any "big circle", but rather is a technical term used in geometry to describe a circle-shaped section that runs through a three-dimensional sphere. Finding this word at all seems suspect and weird. Again, almost any selection of hiragana *could* be used to make some amount of sense in English, because of the incredibly small number of phonemes in Japanese. What we need to see is not something that could be made sense of (which again would be almost any assortment of hiragana letters), but rather something that looks like native text. Also, for what it's worth, the romaji and the hiragana don't always line up on the documents, usually small things like a missing "tenten". I'm not sure which to trust, but guessing given the translation procedure Zoey tried, the romaji is the more trustworthy? For example, the first character was "da" in the romaji (which looks like だ) (with the funny little mark called tenten to the right), but in the hiragana た appears without the tenten. My guess is that from the patterns Zoey has deduced, the script really does convert to hiragana, but the specific consonants and vowels she has applied to letters are off in many cases still, giving completely spurious Japanese and translations. EDIT: Sorry, didn't zoom in on the text on the right side of Zoey's document to see the point about dakuten, so my middle paragraph is invalid :) Edit 2: Actually, I'm not sure I get it, assuming the 'zonai' text lead to the romaji "da", then the dakuten principle wouldn't matter in reverse, it should still be だ. Also, many of the interpretations of the hiragana into kanji are spurious. ひ is indeed the on'yomi reading of the scarlet kanji, but not the actual word for scarlet that would be used in a sentence. To mean scarlet, it needs to be connected with another kanji that helps scarlet produce that reading. Again, it seems we are pulling random hiragana and applying random kanji and kanji readings to them. This is not how Japanese works.
@@kokopelli121123 Hey there, using Great Circle in that way cane about because of 大円 proliferation during the Edo period in context to the rise of Japanese astrology as a way to track lunar cycles. That’s how it became synonymous with various celestial bodies. RUclips will nuke my comment if I use a link, but have a look at a pdf called Self-Support of Japanese Astronomy in the Edo Period in the section about 大円-暦 (daien-reki). One of the reasons we changed it from Moon to great circle was because though it is synonymous in context of the sky, we wanted to be as explicit as possible to not misrepresent anything.

Pulling one word from edo-period Japanese "kobun" that the average Japanese person today wouldn't know and throwing it into the mix. Unless you're making the point that the whole text imitates Edo-period Japanese, in which case, I wouldn't be able to read it in the first place. I did find the PDF you referenced, but trying to do google searches in Japanese for 大円, even feeding it extra info (i.e. adding 歴, looking for info about edo period, etc.) yields zero results for Japanese people actually discussing or using 大円 in any way other than the geometrical term, or as a prefix for the name of a muscle in the back that I don't know the English name for :( If you want to do your own search, you could do an image search on 大円, to get an idea of what it means to the average Japanese person. I think 大円 is almost certainly a bust, unless the person who created the message knew a very obscure fact about the word 大円, and didn't want anyone to be able to interpret the text except for the people who also know the obscure fact. Edit：I'll add that, if the language really does convert to Japanese (I think possible maybe even likely given your statistics), I think it should probably translate to something that would be totally readable in just kana without *needing* kanji. Right now it feels completely unreadable.
These are amazing efforts. Now that we start to see the meanings deciphered, I can’t help but feel like the runes are more atmospheric rather than integral to the story/plot of the events. Like they’re meant to be appreciated as an ornament, not sifted through to potentially reveal valuable information. This makes sense in general as most players will not dig into them while they’re playing. This is not to minimize your huge efforts at all, just an observation.
I think they will be similar to the Shiekah text in BotW. Most of which just gave basic descriptions for things. Example being text on a shrine translating to dungeon, or the text at the top of the shiekah slate screen saying "shiekah slate". even the text for runes being "item one" "item two" etc... Counselor Building text in the Tears of the Kingdom trailer being similar to this. However, it does seem like some of the text does go a lot deeper than just giving the name of things.
There is a Japanese sun goddess named, Amaterasu. There is also a moon God. All the Japanese periods really interest me. And Magatama are from the end of the Jōmon period I believe which breath of the wild was inspired by. Im interested to see how this holds up now that the game has translations from Tauro for the texts. Ive been doing some work on my own translations because Im not so confident in Zoey's results here. The Japanese doesn't make much sense and if it was a cypher it would have been easily decoded by now. From what I've gathered in my own research, the language is either complete gibberish, or an actual conlang, that has its own syntax and grammar. But the deeper I look, the more it seems to be gibberish
The symbol on the back of links hand I don't think is part of the zonai language. It looks similar to the symbols that were on the back of the leaked joycons and of the one visible pin that's part of the collectors pack.

I love the Gliding mechanic in BOTW. I also love the concept of floating islands because it makes the world WAY more beautiful and interesting (more fantasy like). I’m obsessed with floating island type stuff. Especially those islands with water falls looks cool. I’m excited to explore the sky islands. Also the ARM.
This is amazingly cool but the way you just rattled everything off that document nearly made me fall asleep. I understand if that's the way you guys work, but it's not fit to include in a video(at least not how you did it). I noticed that in the last video as well, you just kept reading off her emails and barely ever added something yourself. Again, I understand that the work everyone's been doing is really amazing and I respect that, but I'd rather you explain it in your own words instead of plainly reading off a script like you don't even understand what's going on yourself. The very specific jargon that only people with the right experience can understand also did not make it less confusing. You didn't even attempt to explain complicated parts as if it was only natural to understand everything even with zero prior experience. I mean, english isn't my first(nor second) language, but I'd consider myself pretty proficient. But there's just no way to understand what you're saying in this video tbh. Ik you said you didn't want to rush it, but it seems pretty rushed nonetheless. Also, I've yet to hear any theories you deduced from the decripted text. I have some of my own but it's always good to have more. I'm curious as to what conclusions you and your team came to, what theories arised from all those hours of decription.

This is the first time giving an in depth explanation. We didn't have any of these docs the last time which properly explained the process and gives step by step on the method used, so people can try coming up with their own translations. Anyone can post a video stating "these symbols" translate to "this" and just make all of it up. A lot of the comments and messages we have received are actually from people who are interested in the process and how to begin doing it themselves. As for this being the third time, it is actually just the second video that tries going through the process. The last video barely touches on the actual process or method of the translations. This actually explains the entire process as people have asked and gives variations of the interpretations. I understand a few people may only care about only the translations and don't care if it is accurate, if the person did research or made it all up, but that is why the time stamps exist. lol

I don't know if you pronounce vowels the same way wherever it is you're from (I'm terrible at identifying accents), but when I was studying Japanese, I found that Japanese vowels are consistently pronounced more closely to English lower-case vowels than upper-case vowels. For example, eh instead of ee. When two vowels are placed next to each other, the sounds combine - instead of ai being ah-ih, it becomes eye (which you can sort of hear if you say it out loud a few times, and try to blur them together).
Blue dragon? Like what we saw in the trailer. End of the cycle? Like how ToTK is the last in the timeline? Sky is scarlet? Blood Moon? Demise will win?
I can't remember which translation it was, a reference to the great circle being dark makes me think that there will be a total eclipse in Hyrule, which oddly enough has not been seen before in Hyrule despite numerous games having complex day-night cycles. P.S. I appreciate your speed of narration, it makes it easier to follow along.
These were only the top of the top too. I think I’m total there was over 20, but most others were just slightly different than the presented translations.

Statistically it’s highly likely. Doing raw scoring on the ciphertext resulted in it scoring above the Romaji threshold for Index of Coincidence. That said, having done the scoring, I’ll still never say never on it being other stuff.

This video lacks analysis. Ok we get the process is difficult and involved. But so what? What do the translations Infer? We waited weeks just for you to read of word docs 🥴 we wanted to know the translations and HOW to interpret them in the context of the game.
Those docs weren’t finished two weeks ago. They are pretty freshly pressed. We can’t even begin to carefully analyze it until we are really sure we’ve nailed the whole thing, which includes the big dragon doors.
Don't say we when you mean you. Everyone has seem to have enjoyed it. The entire point of these videos has been to show the process and how others can help translating it all to get more and more accurate. I don't know if you pronounce vowels the same way wherever it is you're from (I'm terrible at identifying accents), but when I was studying Japanese, I found that Japanese vowels are consistently pronounced more closely to English lower-case vowels than upper-case vowels. For example, eh instead of ee. When two vowels are placed next to each other, the sounds combine - instead of ai being ah-ih, it becomes eye (which you can sort of hear if you say it out loud a few times, and try to blur them together).
Blue dragon? Like what we saw in the trailer.
End of the cycle? Like how ToTK is the last in the timeline?
Sky is scarlet? Blood Moon? Demise will win?
I can't remember which translation it was, a reference to the great circle being dark makes me think that there will be a total eclipse in Hyrule, which oddly enough has not been seen before in Hyrule despite numerous games having complex day-night cycles.
P.S. I appreciate your speed of narration, it makes it easier to follow along.
In japanese, a lot of words have multiple meanings. So yeah, interpretation exist.
These were only the top of the top too. I think I’m total there was over 20, but most others were just slightly different than the presented translations.

Statistically it’s highly likely. Doing raw scoring on the ciphertext resulted in it scoring above the Romaji threshold for Index of Coincidence. That said, having done the scoring, I’ll still never say never on it being other stuff.

This video lacks analysis. Ok we get the process is difficult and involved. But so what? What do the translations Infer? We waited weeks just for you to read of word docs 🥴 we wanted to know the translations and HOW to interpret them in the context of the game.
Those docs weren’t finished two weeks ago. They are pretty freshly pressed. We can’t even begin to carefully analyze it until we are really sure we’ve nailed the whole thing, which includes the big dragon doors.
Don't say we when you mean you. Everyone has seem to have enjoyed it. The entire point of these videos has been to show the process and how others can help translating it all to get more and more accurate. Anyone can just make a quick video saying it all translates to anything they want. We like to provide actual information.
