      What if that clip of link climbing the tree root was not only korok forest and the lost woods but maybe it also acts as something similar to the trial of the sword. What I’m going off of is that the environment is hazy and has that bluish tint with particles in the air, like the lost woods without the fog. The other thing is that the clip looks almost as if it was taken in a room with outdoor elements on the inside like the trials. The biggest part I want to point out though is the new thing on links hip is not present in it. The capsule thing is likely not connected to the tears shown around what I think is hylia in the carving because there are 8 slots and 7 tears, therefore showing it might instead be energy capsules for links new arm’s abilities. His capsules not being present there could mean 1 of 2 things and that is either he just obtains it later, or it was taken away before he entered the area, similar to how champions abilities cannot be used in shrines or the trial of the sword. Another detail I noticed while I was typing this was that link is climbing up the side instead of using his arm to clip through or his reverse stasis ability which would both be much mor efficient. Sooooooo…. Yea what do u think about it?

    The fact that Death Mountain is erupting with Malice may be linking back to Level 9 (Spectacle Rock / Skull / Ganon's Lair) in the original Legend of Zelda or Ganon's Tower in A Link to the Past, both being his fortresses on Death Mountain (or the equivalent in the Dark World). Breath of the Wild's Death Mountain OST is even a remix of Level 9 to further that connection.

    I wonder if anyone remembers, but during Link and Daruk's exchange (after he gets named the princess's knight), Death Mountain shakes. Daruk questions why it is becoming so active, saying something like "if it's shivering enough to send boulders, then..." and then just drops the entire thought and says NVM.
    Many may think that he was just referring to the fact that in their present time, the mountain was simply reacting to the coming of Ganon, but I always questioned it and didn't feel like I got closure from that exchange between the two, because it truly had no reason to awaken if the malice wasn't yet spreading nor was the divine beast being possessed or in the volcano to make it violent (and even when Ganon returned and there's malice on the land, the volcano didn't erupt with malice). So yeah, I like this idea.

      Historically speaking, the clouds around Death Mountain have always had an ominous appearance when evil was approaching or present within Hyrule. That said, it DOES seem strange that malice would be spewing from the mountain in this new game. Perhaps there's always been some connection between Hyrule Castle, Death Mountain, and even the Sacred Realm wherein the Triforce resides. Maybe the mountain was created by the gods as a means of warning the peoples of Hyrule about oncoming evil?

    Death Mountain will definitely be an underground dungeon. In the book "Creating a Champion" the developers even designed the inside of the Death Mountain as a dungeon (in a very similar way to the from Oot, the Fire Temple). Also, the giant tower of the skies might be the Tower of Winds from The Minish Cap. The Tower of Winds was the building where the Wind tribe lived.

      @@krishnamckay3247 the Minish might return this time as the mysterious Zonai race because the strange figure from the murals has very long ears as the Minish had too. It's possible that after all the incidents that happened with Vaati in The Minish Cap, the Minish felt remorseful and decided to go back to the skies and lived there with the Wind Tribe. Over the time, they probably mixed with the Wind Tribe and became much more bigger and ancestral. However, this theory has some holes :S

    I'm still hoping for a huge underground network, one where we find multiple entrances to from multiple different areas but that are also connected by an underground Labyrinth. And that Labyrinth will be filled off Malice (that which Ganondorf released and it is now bursting from under Hyrule Castle and Death Mountain) , extremely Dark and dangerous to traverse with typical Ganon fodder but one creature in particular that will hunt you down when you try to traverse the Labyrinth, though killable, you won't be able to do so early game with your only option being to run and keep it at bay with "light". Personally I was thinking a Dead Hand redesign infused with Malice.

What happened to them? So excited!

  • @stuffz1757

    The ancient pillars likely just despawned. It's hard to gauge how far up Link is in the shot in the trailer, but objects in BOTWs world, and thus likely TotKs world, despawn based on distance from the player, regardless of which axis they're moving in. We don't see this happen often due to how ingeniously designed Hyrule is in BOTW, as the natural elements, mountains, trees, lakes, ruins and so on are placed with enough variety but also precision to always be obscuring the horizon in some fashion.
    As for the Deku Tree. Im not convinced it rose up. There's no evidence to say any of Hyrule is rising, people are just assuming so due to Hyrule Castle rising up.

    Looking at the artwork and death mountain, my first thought that it looks like Demise with his hair and body color. I just thought it was neat to think that it’s meant to be an image of the fact that Demise still has an iron grip on hyrule by the form of Ganondorf

  • @a.jthomas6132

    What I am hoping to see in Tears of the Kingdom is the return of the Successors of Hyrule’s Champions(Sidon, Yunobo, Teba and Riju). Instead being sidelined, they should be fighting along side Link as each have build confidence & strength to defend Hyrule from the very threat each shared. Maybe on a side quest perhaps since Death Mountain is infested with Ganondorf’s malice. Also, the sequel of Breath of the Wild needs to confirm whether if they remember their victories from the Age of Calamity timeline since each are pulled to this reality to save this version of the Champions, Link and Zelda. Just like Ocarina of Time, changing the past can create two or three diverted timelines. It is complicated but time travel has always been a part of the Legend of Zelda lore.

    • @anotterwithaphone3077
      @anotterwithaphone3077 2 года назад +2

      No, it hasn't always been part of the lore..
      I mean I agree, I want to find out about the Successors too. But time travel didn't enter Legend of Zelda Lore till the OoT, and the Oracle games. The previously RELEASED 4 games (Legend of Zelda, Link, Link to the Past, and Link's Awakening) didn't have time travel.. note I said released, not placement in chronological history for the game worlds.
      Skyward Sword does make Time Travel something that's happened since the start of in game history... so it's weird.
      Eh, let's just hope the 4 allies come back. Who knows they might even become 4 of the new sages.

    If the storm is supposed to represent Herba, that'd be another point for my theory that Ganon is using malice eruptions to 'cage' the Divine Beast and in typical fashion, it's all ironic cages. Rudannia engulfed in flame, Medoh in an endless cyclone, Naboris maybe buried in the Gerudo sand and Ruta frozen solid. Even if not, the idea of having mini dungeons lost in storm clouds is pretty cool.

    • @orange_turtle3412
      @orange_turtle3412 2 года назад +2

      Thats not hebra. I personally guarantee you its gerudo desert. Ive cross referenced it with the original map. That storm is absolutely in gerudo.
      I love that idea though. It sort of expands on botw’s thing with ruta making zoras domain constantly rainy and rudania causing death mountain to erupt. Each area could be encased in a giant supernatural storm or something that prevents the divine beasts from functioning maybe. And each time you confront the source and clear up the malice of an area, maybe it removes some malice from the castle which gradually makes its defenses weaker and weaker. So you can still technically defeat the final boss immediately (in botw fashion) but it would be immensely difficult unless you play the rest of the game and clear up some of its defenses.

    The storm in the official box art could be somewhere in the Gerudo region. But something that stands out to me is the fact that death mountain and presumably the Gerudo desert has malice/storms. It makes me question; what about the tabantha/hebra region and lanyaru? Could there be like a heavy blizzard storm and malice flood of the 2 regions respectively that involves malice or nature? And why I say that is because those are the regions where the divine beasts are located. We know that they aren’t present in the trailer especially rudania who settles on death mountain. What if the divine beasts may not be corrupted, but trapped underground? Like what if we need to help them before they get destroyed by these storms, thick spewing malice, etc? I’d love to see that.

      I think that the carvings tell a story of a relationship between the "creature" and the woman (Zelda figure). I think the scene where it appears that she is falling indicates some sort of betrayal or tragedy. I think this betrayal or tragedy and the events that follow are where the "Tears of the Kingdom" comes from. I do believe the floating islands and sealing of gannon and the green hand (probably a past link who gave his life to seal Gannon) are all related in this past tragedy. It very well may be that in this past history, Gannon won to some extent. I think this game will resume that story with the same gannon (reactivated) and a new link and new zelda who will finish it once and for all.

    The more I think about the new trailers, theories, and the timeline, the more convinced I am that the whole timeline is cyclical. Hylia created Skyloft from an ancient Hyrule to keep it safe, and now it seems like Zelda is becoming more like Hylia and we see parts of Hyrule floating back up to the sky. Maybe like the two dragons eating each other's tails(or being born of each other's mouth?), BotW is at the end of the timeline and also the cause of the beginning of the timeline.

      @@howlbastion I should clarify that I think Zelda is becoming more like Hylia in TotK, and I have personal theory that she had been disconnected from Hylia in BotW. The very short of that is I think the green hand sealing Ganondorf is a part of Hylia, given up by a past Zelda to keep the Demon King down, and every Zelda since has been taught to reconnect to that missing part of the goddess by reinforcing the seal. But because Zelda's mother died before training her daughter, BotW Zelda remained partly separated from Hylia and the seal weakened. I think in TotK, Zelda will reconnect with her divinity, taking on aspects of Hylia herself. We see this if we assume the figure at the beginning of the trailer is Hylia, and as we see the depictions of Zelda throughout the trailer, we can see a progression of traits from the Hylia depiction being added to the ones of Zelda, until they stand mirroring each other at the title screen.
      So Hylia didn't answer her prayers because Zelda had been essentially cut off from her.

But what if this isn’t the same Hyrule?! We see Zelda and Link exploring a cave in the first teaser and Zelda falling into an abyss. What if Link, upon going in to try to save her, finds himself in an alternate “twin” Hyrule (a reference to the twin dragon motif in the logo). We’ve seen a similar thing before, most notably in A Link to the Past with Dark World. It would be an interesting angle to explore a Hyrule that is similar enough to the one from BotW to feel familiar but different enough to throw us off by subverting our expectations. My theory is that there are more areas that are "malice infested" besides Death Mountain and Hyrule Castle and these areas indicate locations for dungeons (that are likely underneath the surface) and completing these dungeons will stop the malice from leaking out of them. My guess is that other important areas we haven't seen yet in TotK like Zora's Domain, Lake Hylia, Akkala Citidel, Great Plateau, and/or Gerudo Desert probably also have these spots where malice is leaking out that will also indicate dungeon locations. It could also be related to the missing Great Deku Tree.

  • @blddemn6645
    @blddemn6645 2 года назад

    I mean, let's say we do end up finding the Great Deku Tree in the sky, but my question is why would Nintendo reuse somewhat of the same concept for their sequel?
    In the first game, Zelda takes the master sword to the Great Deku Tree to help restore it, 100 years later it's mostly back to normal, but it's not at it's full power. So tell me why would Nintendo reuse that idea but just use Link instead of Zelda, plus Link doesn't exactly have 100 years to wait
    Most likely the Deku Tree is in the sky, and maybe he'll have some knowledge for us, but I don't think he'll help out with the master sword, plus if that were true we would all bolt towards him and the other sky Islands would be useless if the Deku Tree was the key to bringing the master sword back

      This does seem a lot like the story leading up to Skyward Sword. Malevolence pouring out of the earth and Hylia (AKA ZELDA) causing the kingdom to rise to the skies. The trailers to this game have shown three different landscapes:
      1- Normal BOTW landscape with nothing in the sky
      2 - Malice pouring out and the castle rising
      3 - Malice pouring out even further from the volcano and sky islands. Also, there are now holes seen in the earth perhaps either from damage blowouts from the malice or from the land sky islands rising up.
      My theory is that it is a progression that begins with the event with Gannon in the cave. It blasts the castle up, continues to blast through the earth endangering everything. I think that Link and Zelda might somehow have something to causing the Sky Islands to rise in order to save the land from the corrupted land. However, there seems to be a problem - The golden plant sky islands seem to have evidence that they are falling (remember link rides the rock up to the sky) and also that they are rising (holes seen in the surface, disappearance of Deku Tree). My theory is that they used to be in the sky during the time of the events of the carving (remember the creature on a sky platform) but that sometime between the events of that story and BOTW, they fell to the ground. The forgotten temple in the canyon looks like something that has fallen from the skies (perhaps the sealed temple from Skyward Sword). Perhaps Link and Zelda are using some type of technology to reverse time and cause them to rise back up. Link uses his arm attachment to reverse time on the spiked ball which turns gold and goes up the hill. He rides the rock up to the skies using a similar mechanic. Why are all the trees and plants in the skies gold? What if it is because they are all reverted back to their state from the past? He also uses the reverse water droplet technique to go to sky platforms. All three of these are reverse time mechanics... If you look closely underneath the sky islands you will see that most of them appear to have some strange structures on the underside. Almost like a technology of some kind. Okay, I'm done!

      Hey the theory of the trees is cool, but I think the islands was there from the beginning, the hand who's seems to be originated from the sky world take Link to there and open barrier what separates the islands from the surface but you are right about the lost woods, it seems to be up in the sky and here begins the confusion hehe

      @@ricardoenrik It also could be that the whole previous story (with link, gannon, and zelda characters) could have all been Zonai from the sky word. If this is the case, the green energy hand could be both a prior link and from the sky world.

    Here is my theory:
    There is an entire underworld below Hyrule that is infested with malice, sort of being the opposite of the sky area. And some of it is bleeding into the over world, causing the malice in death mountain, a storm possibly on hebra mountain and maybe even gerudo desert, as well as freezing/flooding Zora's domain. There will be 8 dungeons total, 5 on ground (or underground) with Hyrule castle being the final, and 3 in the sky with the big doors potentially being the first dungeon.

    OK maybe a wacky idea, but when you discussed Hyrule Castle and Death Mountain being shown, both with Malice erupting, it made me think: there is this, if not well regarded, at least persistent theory that Breath of the Wild somehow represents a literal fusing of the three timelines; what if, as a result of such a merger, there are three Ganondorfs, each sealed in a different location? Each causing different Malice eruptions, each signified by different green sealing spirals... I'm not sure it's exactly a *good* idea, per se, but I could see the Zelda team doing it.

    Hyrule Castle do have a hotsprings under it. That have to be heated by something naturally. So Death Mountain and Hyrule connecting was always likely.

    This isn’t really a TotK theory, and it isn’t even really a theory but it’s about BotW. In the Hyrule Castle outdoor soundtrack, you can hear what sounds like the marching of soldiers in the background. I’m not sure if this is an Easter egg, but nonetheless my head canon is the ghost of every soldier, knight, and royal guard who died protecting Hyrule during the great calamity are marching with you as you storm Hyrule castle.

    I think the Deku Tree in the sky has merit - because the sky island trees are not dissimilar to those in the Korok Forest, and when you look at the sky island below the giant root Link is climbing, there are three things visible other than trees. Possibly rocks, or something made of wood and what could have been a bit of a platform.
    Speaking of platforms, when you look at the path out of the big doors, the giant jutty out bits of wall start slightly higher than the enclosing walls. There's a possibility that this exit is at a right angle to Link when we see Link from the front, but I think it more likely that the doors are facing the tower from Links left when he's seen diving the first time. Anyway, it looks like a diving platform or something similar is on the top of the large building Link is running from.
    Also, with all the light emanating from the carved figures, is there really any doubt about it being Hylia and Zelda.
    Hylia only lived in the Skyward lifetime - her blood has run in the veins of the royal family of Hyrule, sure, but she had a mortal life, and would have returned to her divine form afterwards. Time Goddess though she may be, that sort of thing is going to drain you. I think this time, we may just see them as separate entities.
    Roll on May!

    I was thinking that could certainly be one possibility, the theory I have is that when Hyrule erupts with malice and the sky islands appear, I belive that Hyrule is not just physically fractured but also has been fractured with time itself. I believe that certain areas of Hyrule are trapped in a far long past and the Great Deku Tree is trapped in one of these time fractures. There is also the popular theory that The Great Deku Tree was ripped into the sky as that is where the current pedestal for the Master Sword is. By raising the Lost Woods into the sky, that would cut off Link's ability to place the Master Sword into its pedestal for repairs. Ganondorf has had literally centuries of being held captive, he used the malice eyes to watch over everything happening in Hyrule prior to Calamity Ganon's defeat. We are just going to have to wait and see what fate befell the Lost Woods and the Great Deku Tree itself.

    Wasn't Death Mountain one of the lairs Ganon used in a previous game?
    Maybe his previous final dungeons are becoming his Malic Hotspot now?

    Great video as usually keep it up HG. I notice In the beginning if you look below the island it look like a piece of that land became an island so maybe Zelda/hylia rises these island up when Ganon/demised rose again to protect the temple or something sacred from being corrupt. The bird is probably a mechanical loft bird that is scared to zelda or hylia to allow link to ride down or up.Anybody notice the very big island in the sky my guess is that it is that same island where link fought koshia( excuse my spelling) on or some other unknown island and at the end when link went thought the door does it remind you of skyward sword when link open the door to see Zelda when she was seal in a orange crystal maybe that will be a meeting place where he will see Zelda again before he defeat the king of evil or maybe is a meeting place for him and somewhere else that my theory. Here a theory what if link have to use the green magic to turn back time momentary to solve certain puzzle or get clues? Just wondering.

    I remeber a theory from the first game that said the Great Plateau and the korok forest switched places at some point. Now we have giant sky island that may or may not be coming from the ground as well as the sky. Could that be how they switched places? Has this happend befor? To strech it even further, does this happen alot? And is that the reason Hyrul is sometimes so diffrent between games?
