He is technically not wrong. Gavriel Loken as he was, Captain of the Tenth Company, proud member of the Luna Wolves and conscience of the Mornivul, died that day. What emerged from the insane husk of "Cerberus" was the beginnings of the first Chapter Master of the Grey Knights, Janus.
Having a deep love for Halo Reach and sorrow for this song really makes this hit that much harder, especially since Lokkens my favorite character in the all the 40k/HH books I've gone through so far
@@swagattttt Yes, Loken became known as Cerberus, that's what he called himself after the betrayal at Isstvaan 3 and the murder of his best mate Tarik Torgaddon.

? Loken isn't dead. Haven't you read Vengeful Spirit? He was found wandering, half insane in the ruins of Istvan by Nethanial Garro. There are about five or six stories and short stories involving him after Galaxy in Flames.
In the recent Lore it was revealed Loken did not die but instead Garro rescued him when he had become Cerberus, the last loyal son sworn to hunt and murder all traitors, loken fought on terra against the traitors defending the Palace and slew Horus aximand in single combat by decapitating him
Garviel died long before Istvaan. Daven killed Garviel, and it wasn't Nurgles pox that saw to it. It was erebus festering in the highest echelons of the Legion that killed him.
GW is not confirmed Lokens death after the siege of terra. I believe that even to this day Captan Garviel Loken the last of the Loyal 16th Legion Luna Wolves lives on fighting in the emperors service behind the scenes.
I want to thank all the smartasses that just comment about how not final these moments are for loken not realising that someone that has just read the 3rd book wants to come here and listen to this and doesnt wanna get spoiled. It's impossible to link this to anyone that hasnt read the garro book let alone just having started the journey of reading HH. Bravo 40k community.
I still think this should have been his true end and a beautiful yet tragic finale of the original novel trilogy. Tarvitz should have survived instead.
Wasn’t Garro technically the first member since Malcador commissioned him first on one of those secret missions? Malcador established the Grey Knights but he isn’t one of them.
He should have stayed dead. They ruined one of the most original complex characters in the entire 40k lore. Only to devolve into a plot device mic with the author's own persona. He died a simp

He was never a Son of Horus, he was and always will be a true Luna Wolf. Proud son of Cthonia beloved by all.
He was always a Luna wolf true to the end of his service
I got really attached to Loken.
Me too... It was a relief when he was not actually dead. I hope he is somehow resurrected in 40k. They hint at it in the pandorax book.
Me too, I just started the 4th book and I miss him
We all did
Aye me too
I got more attached to Torgaddon
Tarik:so you died
Loken:yes
Tarik:soooooo how are you alive

*Loken:Yes sadly... But I lived!*
The more impressiv thing is that there's still "Buildings" to crumble. After the Virusbombs and god knows how long they fought each other

I threw this book across the room when this happened.
Love when he knocked the crap out of Lucius. Glad he survived this.
The hart of the Legion gave it’s final beat, and then every changed forever
Garro: "Did you die?"
Cerberus: "Unfortunately yes. BUT I LIVED!!!"
Loken was one of the best characters in the entire Horus heresy. I loved this book and I loved this character
" I remember when Horus killed the Emporer" - from Horus Rising
in the nwest lore it is explained Loken did live on to fight at the siege of terra and he beheaded horus aximan himself

One of my favorite Astartes of all times.
And then at the very, very, very end of the Heresy Gabriel Loken gets merked by FUCKING EREBUS

Epilogue is really fitting for this...

Who is here after the end of the death volume 3?
This death is far more impactful and meaningful than what happened in the end.
The use of the Halo Reach soundtrack was a great touch.
When Abaddon The Despoiler didn't get the job done...
Aximand: You’re a Dream…No. A Nightmare!
Loken: That, Perhaps…

Ghosts and Glass is actually really appropriate for Istvaan
And then we find out his actual end in the End and the Death Vol III and it's that much worse...
All I wanted was one last meeting between Mersade and Lokan
Wait till he hears about the Second book
God...why did he had to end like that..
He lives and becomes a Grey Knight for Malcador and Garro
He DIDN'T become a Grey smuck and he never will. He became a Knight-Errant.
in which book?
Read the Buried Dagger, it tells you who the first Grey Knights were, and what happens to Loken. 😁

Yup!
