    He cut his beard because he is able to think critically about the world. It's a great thing to be able to surprise oneself. Matisyahu is a man who embraces his thoughts and feelings. Celebrate it, guys!

    Many here are quick to judge. I liked Matisyahu as a reggae-singing hassidim and I also like that he's obviously in control of his own life and that he doesn't stick to that image although it's not what he is anymore. To many he was a bit more of a novelty than an artist. Now, he has taken the harder way of shedding off that old skin. Have some respect, guys.

    As a Chossid Matisyahu was a messenger bringing the world closer to gd - as many of his songs carried the message of deep chassidic kabbalistic teaching and of the Holy Rebbe - this lit a hugh forest fire of holiness in the world - now he is just an artist expressing himself - it is definitely attractive for many - but the infinite fire is gone and in its place is a much smaller one - limited by just matisyahus finite talents - attractive though they may be - the infinite fire is gone - we wait for it to return - stronger than before when matisyshu will reconnect to his infinite holy soul and once again be a conduit for the ohr ein sof- and not just the tiny musical talents of his artistic animal soul

    Why's everyone freaking out?! I think he's trying to say that it was just part of his life's journey, and now he wants to explore a different lifestyle. What's so wrong with being open minded to evolution? As long as you have love in your heart and emulate a happy life style, it's his life. He seems extremely creative, peaceful, caring, and just a happy dude.

      Exactly!!! Just how he left the Jewish religion, I left the Catholic church on February of 2015 and it was a time of confusion and depression for me. Leaving the church helped me be myself more cus alot of people from church would tell me a bunch of things like, you will be back, you're lost, or how are you gonna get to heaven, or you're wrong. That helped me not to give a crap about what people think of me and it made me realise that life is full of amazing and even painful changes that make us into better people.

    • @22markski22
      @22markski22 7 лет назад +1

      Well said my friend! I know personally, that certain changes in life can cause joy, and some cause pain. As long as you learn from mistakes, and always try to be your "best self." That things will always work out for you, that's what it's all about 👌

      I left the Catholic church a long time ago and have been very happy with my decision. I was tired of the hypocrisy, judgement of others, and mainly the entire feeling of guilt which the religion pushes.
      What many religions forget to teach is humanity, sympathy, and compassion for everyone and everything even if they are different. I hope you are doing well at this point in your life.

    A true artist and most importantly an individual. A beard doesn't make a person and it sure doesn't change him. Don't let any fool on RUclips tell you otherwise. I love your music no matter what people say and I'm proud of you as a person and an artist. Individuality is much stronger than any followings or beliefs.

    I know allot of people are proud of him and think its souly about the music but please understand. He was our representation... A real frum(religious) person who was out there making his dreams come true. Him changing felt more like a betrayal. I still love his music, and the kiddusha (gdly/holiness) that was in the music. I still want all the best for him but I can't shake this feeling of betrayal.

      + Ariella Szczupakiewicz
      He realized that there is a beautiful world outside of the frum path. Many others are coming to the realization that its ok to venture out and see the world in its entirety. To live a life within a secluded structure is not healthy and detrimental to both oneself and society. I know anyone veering from the beliefs will be considered an outcast, but remember that you are an individual no matter what you have been taught. You have a limited time on this earth and its best to take advantage everyday and live life to the fullest.

  • @masterfresh205
    @masterfresh205 10 лет назад +2

    Spiritually, he has grown past any need to conform to a structured religion. He did not abandon his religion but rather transcended it by feeling too free to live his life by rigid structure.

    A beard isn't what makes a heart Jewish anyway. It's the mindset and the heart that create a light in the world. Hassidim or not anymore, he'll never not have it as part of him - the theme of his song One Day, for example, and King Without a Crown. He was born a Jew and he'll die a Jew whether he's Orthodox or not, and the light of teaching will always be part of his music.

    Dressing to much like a regular Lubavitcher just wasn't for me I gave it a try and daven with the big broad grimmed lubavitcher style black fedora hat just wans't for me. I would rather stand out in shule wearing modern cloths on saturday a trilby hat and patterned lavender shirt I do change my style of outfits all the time. During the week if i go to shule wear a snapback hat and Hip Hop style cloths or modern fashiondable cloths. I do clean shave, beards are not for me hides my handsome face. I"m a non Frum Guy, theres more to it than bricks and mortar about living a frum life and dressing frum. I choose not to wear the Frum Religious image full stop from now on because it was hiding the truth about who I was.

      +Rasganjah Ganjaman Actually, beliefs can change over time, when one is exposed to new information, new ideas, and new perspectives. Those who cling to their beliefs despite new information are doomed never to evolve. I would hate to think where I would be had I refused to let the beliefs I once clung to evolve as I grew and learned more about the world.

Either he is ultra orthodox or he's not, yet it seems that now he's bored of the look, he's just discarded it, yet where does God fit into his ideas?
