29:30 You can see the original tunnel to the Broadway line, which originally ran on the north side of the bridge (the footage in this video). The south side was used by trains on the Nassau Street line (where today's J/Z run,) coming from Chambers Street. Construction to connect the 6th Avenue line to the bridge began in 1957 and ended 10 years later, in 1967. Today, the north side is used by 6th Avenue trains (B and D), while the south is used by the Broadway trains (N and yellow Q). In this video, the bridge was under reconstruction, and only the 6th Avenue trains (D and orange Q back in 2000) ran, and only on the north side. It is why in the other video, the N is running in the tunnel.
@@darrylreedy5079 Until 2001 it ran every day but on weekends to Queensbridge since the Q didn't run then. However for the last few months it was Central Park West 7 days a week because of construction on the 63rd street line. Also in Brooklyn it was the West End Line

I remember these days like yesterday, D train Brighton local, orange Q Brighton express to Brighton beach and queensbridge. From 1988 to 1998 the orange Qs had R68s and then it was R40 until 9/11 hit. Also remember during the 1995 Manhattan bridge construction the Ds were terminated at 34th st and the Qs run broadway line wit the yellow diamond curved tail Q rollsign via montague tunnel wit N and R trains
Sorry about that, I also remember in Brooklyn, the Q local to Coney Island ran the R68"s while the Q express to brighton beach ran the R40 slants during the bridge construction and the W train ran over the West End Line. Glad that is over because the Broadway line was a complete log jam. and the S train the ran from West 4th street to Grand Street. Those were the days!😀😀
It appears that this was one of the earlier R40 cars to be retired. It was taken straight from CI in April 2008 and sent off to the reef six months later. Meanwhile, most of the slants went over to 207/Pitkin where they continued to operate on the A and briefly the C until the last one in June 2009.

Not that it matters much, but I believe that I rode this train in 1980 ! We visited NYC and went out to Ave.M from Manhattan. I know that it didn’t cross the River via a bridge though.
Chao-Hwa Chen do you have any footage of either 63rd street shuttle service (the yellow S from 1998 I think or the orange S from 2001)? I realize you didn't make any videos after 9/11, so there only would have been two months you could have done the latter. But anyway, I think the yellow S was even more unusual since it ran infrequently and probably single-tracked on the 63rd street line

Do you have the D train via Brighton local?
@@alexjimenez6893 at that time D train had no railfan windows due to all R68 trains. So I did not take videos via Brighton Local.
