Great video, I have a boxster 987 and bought the hard to fit K&N . After 2 hours trying to fit it i walked away and slept or the thought have I just wasted my money ? Next day within 10 minutes it was fitted . I had a go at making a video and putting it on RUclips but no way was I taking it back off . Basically I used an hair dryer to heat the tube on the filter that goes over the tube on the air box and from inside the car I pushed it with a flat screw driver and it popped on piece of pee. Also going back to the de snorkeling I've ordered a great looking cover in red with white writing porsche from a gentleman in I think America thats a 3D print and they look out of this world. I hope this helps any of your fans . Cheers Andy from the UK
one side scoop is the air intake, the other is actually a fan (I think right side). If you shine a flash light you'll see the fan. Thus, I'm not so sure putting a side scoop on it is such a good idea. One side is designed to expel air, not intake, which the side scoop most likely interferes with. Does look cool though.
It is a fan but it draws air in to cool the motor. While driving if the air tried to expel there it wouldn’t be able to. The scoop brings in nice ambient cool air keeping the inside cooler just as the GT4 is designed.
Just added the GT4 scoops to my 987. Wow, what an aesthetic upgrade. Yes, mesh was incorporated due to the immense amount of debris these things collect! Gutter guard was used on the outside of the frame and a smaller screen mesh was used on the inside, creating a double barrier all the while allowing unimpeded air flow.
@@neckofthewoods24 Dang bro that one is in leauge of its own. I was looking for 987 since 06/07' models are at a really good price to buy now and are in my price range at up to 15.000-20.000$. Due to that fact I was just looking all the info on yt and stumbled upon yours which is one of the the cleanest and best looking ones. If you get time do you have a plan doing all the costs/maintence details and just overall experience you had with it to help us new interested buyers :D
If you can I’d really look for a Gen 2 if you’re gonna do it! 15-20k is obviously better than 25-30k but if that motor goes which it probably will you’ll be screwed to pay 10-20k to get a new one installed. Unless of course you pay like $5k for a warranty. As for maintenance, I only did brakes, and oil change and then the add ons. Not much to really do to one and not terrible to work on either.
NeckofTheWoods It’s crazy +47 in the front without spacer. It almost goes over the edge. I thought to put 8.5x 19 and 45. I don’t know if it is a good choice. Are your tires much wider than the original tires?
Le hiress Geoffrey it might fit. But I think these are at the max on oem camber settings. You could probably get a +45 with a little more neg camber. Yes both are wider. 255/285.
3pointplay1 mine are from Taiwan. The guy I bought from doesn’t have a listing up right now. They were like $218. He was in the USA though and just imported a lot at once.
I posted the link for the grills in the description for you. The scoops I got on eBay from a guy but I no longer see them available. If you look on eBay you’ll have to find the ones that are from Taiwan.
All that fucking prep and the tube breaks... Talk about, "...the best laid plans of mice and men." That is a typical day around here. A circus, wrapped in a carnival, driven by a clown, pointed at by a monkey, watched by a blind flamingo. It does make for some pretty good stories once the dust settles, the bodies are buried, and we can start the comedic roasting of the unfortunate m-fers. I'll bet you get 400% more air to the engine at 85-115mph with the side intake moldings on.
I’m not sure they are Brembo. They might be though with Porsche having an account with them. And I got slotted rotors and ditched the oem drilled ones. I think the oem drilled fail and get clogged to often.
@@neckofthewoods24 Hope you had no bad xperience with those rotors i use them ever since ( 20 years plus) ...absolutely stable even on the Nürburgring track .they are Brembos ( referring to some 911s and Cayman S series 1 or also on some MB Sportscars..but slotted are for Sure super as well or ceramic carbons..but to many dollars for these🥴 keep your C vids comin..love them👍

Yeah the CAI was a nightmare!!! Lots of cussing and swearing and busted knuckles.
I think the exposed vents looked way more aggressive , but im sure the scoops will help a lot with air flow.. Great car ,,great video.

Done it to my boxster too. Totally agree, It took me forever and my stock intake is in a million pieces now... But I guess the sound is worth it haha
What wheels are these and what’s the offset? The spacer makes this so flush! 👌👍
Thanks! It does! Niche, 19x8.5+47 and 19x9.5+45. The front needed no spacer but the rear has a 15mm spacer.

Do you track the car and have the scoops stayed on with the tape and adhesive?
I have not tracked yet. I used to with my 370z but building the house and garage is top priority. in Mexico they've stayed on at high speeds! ;)
I have an identical car and is the best car I have owned! Someone wanted to trade their 911, even swap, and I declined. Not a fan of rear-engine cars.
