I remember back when I was thinking about what kind of gaming PC I wanted the alpha just came out and I was considering getting one but when I saw you couldn't upgrade the GPU I decided to just build a PC. I remember watching Alienware's Alpha gameplay videos on their channel and I commented something like "you should be able to hook it up to the amp" and they actually replied and said something like "good idea, we'll mention it to the design team."
Geddy135 lol that's awesome
***** too bad I'll probably never get one at this point tho, their really cool little computers.
Geddy135 lol yeah me too
Geddy135 that is awesome
@@Geddy135 look around man I found the r1 i3 for $160 on let go. Basically stole it with that price lol.
I
Hi

Holy crap this channel has been growing so quickly! I remember when it was a mere 2,000 subs. Awesome.
Great stuff Dave!!
Hey Canoopsy, it's me!

thank you for the wallpaper! awesome content!
+Dave Lee man you've come a long way but in such a short time I remember looking up iOS tweaks and seeing one of your videos in the suggestion column and you did a how to of making your screen dim and I watched it and liked it but didn't subscribe then I saw another video about a new tablet at the time from dell and I was thinking well it seems like this guy is going to be around for a while so might as well give him a chance and man I'm glad I did your videos are supper awesome and entertaining and informational and this is just a early congrats for 200k because I know you'll get there and probably sooner than anybody thinks. Keep up the good work.

I was starting to get impatient, Great work again Dave!,
Taking a look at the OnePlus 3?
Man I hope so
+Malcolm Stewart Me too
Like so he'll see this lol
YES! Dave, please do a review on the OnePlus 3!
This was really helpful. Thanks a lot for making this!
Great Review I ever seen regarding the Alienware Alpha R2 .. Thanks alot!
Hey Dave! I was actually really really excited when you made this video. 1) because I'm an owner of an Alienware Alpha
and 2) because I'm wondering if you will encounter the yellow blinking lights of death.
After about a week, most owners will experience when their Alienware Alpha turns on, but doesn't boot, and the power button blinks in yellow a constant 5 blinks.
If you do encounter this problem, please try to make a review. I really hope you see this comment!
I think I had the same, the Dell Windows driver updater killed it RIP
inb4 just build your own pc comments
gg m8, but for that price you could build a PC with a 1070 and an i7 skylake 4 the same price
Holy shit... $950 for a... _a 960?_ I feel wrong.
Even the dell inspiron seems more reasonable, considering it comes with a screen.
still, seems more reasonable
It seems pretty reasonable to me. I just built a mini ITX system and paid about $700. Ended up with 680GB of SSD storage, a water cooled i7-3770k and a GTX 970. Even though I bought the smallest case you can cram those components into, it's still at least 3-4x's the size of this little Alienware. And for someone who only games at 1080p and has no interest in VR yet, the difference between a 960 and 970 is meh.
Looks like you were enjoying VR! Great review!
my fave tech channel! Great job!
I want to get into pc gaming but I'm definitely not a computer guy, would this be a good option for someone like me??👽
If you travel a lot ya but if you travel a lot to places with no moniters and no TV hell no
If you just want to play on the TV then no... you can't upgrade the graphics card or the cpu... I recommend building a gaming PC. If you want help I'd be happy to teach ya through skype
Lmao but you can upgrade those things..
I want to get this I think it'll be fun to turn my TV into a computer for gaming
the hardware is just too old. they really should update it, im in the market for a mini gaming pc
didn't realize my boy Dave was uploading 4k till now good review as always
Nice video Dave :)
That case look super tiny :O
Hope in couple years we'll got same size with 2x power
So basically it works exactly like the regular pc we have at home? All im going to need then would be a monitor and a couple of wires to hook it up.
Yep
6700HQ = 6700T, 970M = 960. If you want a portable computer, instead of being relegated to a fixed desk, It would be much better to buy a Gaming laptop with a 6700HQ-970M, you can get a good one for $1300. For $400 more, you get an inbuilt battery = UPS, Inbuilt Screen = Monitor, Inbuilt Mouse, keyboard, webcam PC that you can use anywhere.
+kninez My problem with laptops around that price range though is the small screen, and I think I would prefer a wider display, but good suggestion though.
Kyle Pimentel Do you also hate phones that cost as much as laptops $600, that have teeny tiny screens?......Don't be silly, laptops have small screens because their entire point is portability. they are meant to be portable desktops, their screens are made up for since you sit alot closer to them.
kninez I hope you realise that all phones don't cost as much as even low end gaming laptops and they have completely different uses. It's not like you're gonna call a friend with a 17" phone that is as thick as a laptop. Also this guy is obviously not looking for portability just a small gaming PC that he could fit away and attach to a tv or monitor and get great price out of it. To get the $1700 gaming laptop you mentioned, which would still be slightly slower that this you could buy 2 of these. I would take that over a gaming laptop any day. Actually getting the gaming laptop you mentioned would be soon outdated and even more new gaming laptops would just become more pricey, making your suggestion obsolete.
Are you sure it's a desktop 960? I presumed it's the same part in the Zotac Magnus 970: techreport.com/review/29208/zotac-zbox-magnus-en970-reviewed NVidia didn't like them using "M" branded parts in a desktop, so they rebranded the 970M as a 960.
+tipoomaster yup. Desktop class 960. (No M). That's what makes this thing special.
***** So it's GM206 in GPU-Z, not GM204? Just making sure, because Nvidia already pulled a fast one like that in the Zotac box I mentioned, the 970M was rebranded a GTX 960, without the M, but still mobile.
took a SS - i.imgur.com/rcxkeqr.png
***** Thanks!
So this is a gtx970 but they call it a gtx960?
Pretty cool. Maybe I'll grab this thing with the graphics amp. Do some 4k video editing on this thing.
The one place that gives non-bias reviews with professionalism and great display of everything! Love the reviews Dave
Upgradable CPU, if only the gpu was upgrable! Great system.
Ohh but it very much is
You can do an external gpu but its kinda jank
Whats the keyboard model at 5:40 .. ?
tk820 i think? logitech
Hey Dave maybe do some short review of that keyboard, it looks great!
what is the price of this device?
+Neeraj Sunil about 70$ on amazon
U mean 700?
You deserve way more subscribers than you have! Some of the best made review videos I've ever seen!
I wish I could give you a 100,000 subs.... Your videos are amazing... I've mentioned this many a times but doesn't hurt to mention again... keep up man
What if... there was an annual election in which we would elect a new member to join Team Crispy!!!
I would really like to see Dave joining them!!!
2019 anyone?

Wow man awesome video, very informative and very thorough! Thanks
just gotta say that i really like your channel and your videos! they really helped me deciding:) and even though i already bought a laptop your videos are still very interesting to me:)
keep up the great work!
Why people buy console because most of us don't have $600 or more.
Ramases Bullock then build a 600 pc
pcpartpicker.com/list/
A thousand bucks for a gtx960 no thanks
You mean 800$? It's the cheapest for a 960 you'll find in any prebuilt anywhere on the Internet...
I looked on tge website and you can get a model with the 960 and an i5 for about 600 bucks.
+Matt Walker the*
now it's $700 on Alienware's website. I'd consider waiting until it drops down to $600.
Kalop Spring Its now 500!
I love this video, there's so much work put into it
nice and helpful review as always!
I was waiting for a video!!! :-) video of the OnePlus 3 soon maybe?
Something about your reviews just puts me in a good mood, even if I don't care about the topic. You definitely need more subscribers!
Wow just what I need! Cool PC and great review!
nice video as always Dave!
btw, Is there any cheaper same small factor alternative??
Thanks!
Nice video, Dave. I was falling asleep because your voice was calm and soothing and the bgm was nice. Stay safe. 😉
Super informative as always! 😎
Mr.Dave Lee, if you were to choose a laptop up to 1550 USD for gaming, and editing, which laptop would you use I really need advice please respond ASAP thanks!
Great Video!!! Im getting the radeon config
Thanks for the review. I'm looking into getting a PC for primarily gaming and I normally only play Blizzard games. I was looking at laptops and desktops and was just not getting to confident about buying because of price. Then I actually took a look at the Alpha and watched some reviews including this one and feel pretty comfortable with possibly moving forward to purchase their highest configuration, knowing I'm getting a powerful machine without really breaking the bank when its only going to have one purpose.
I'm getting this PC. Thanks for the review, Dave.
Also, is the i5 good?? A lot of people say the i7 is barely an upgrade with gaming. Is this true?
MikeTheRusski if you still care since this comment was 3 years ago.
The i7 you will see an improvement in gaming however the i7 really shines in the work station side of things like intensify programs but the i5 are more geared towards just gaming.
thanks Dave great video very informative
Thanks, going to buy for editing & streaming
Thanks for the video. I ordered this model from Dell as well as the graphics amplifier.
tempted to purchase this now lol
nice review
Great video as always Dave, with regards those noise levels how would you say it compared to a launch ps4 under load? also when sitting close to the r2 do you think it'd become an annoyance? thanks
love the comparison with the laptop and the Alienware Alpha R2 it help me a whole lot
Your thumbnails are on point. Its clickbait, but the good kind.

hi i like your videos thx for reviews!
so i feel like you're an expert im gonna ask you whats the top 5 on budget laptop is ?
Hey Dave! Nice video as always! Can you please makd a short review on the Razer Turret? Thanks!!!
you are incredibly helpful when im looking for info about something you deserve 10 million subs great work
I really appreciate your in-depth review, including getting into the guts of the box. One major point for me was that you used Premiere on the Alpha to edit the review video. This shows that the Alpha is no longer a Steam Machine, but a viable, affordable PC. I've been considering the Alpha for a while now and since seeing your video, I'm very likely to purchase one. My daughter is considering the Alpha to replace her failing laptop, so I recommended this video to her. Keep up the great work.
Where can I get your wallpaper in the beginning on your main desktop? Looks awesome!
@Dave2Dtv hi dave tnx for another great video. one question thou, would u consider this device future proofe? for 2 or 3 years use ?
Thank you Dav, great review as usual. Do you know if it supports 7.1/8 channels audio output?
Great Informative video Dave :)
Hey Dave, I am thinking about getting this to replace my older Mac Mini for video editing a a bit of gaming. What m2 pcie ssd did you put in the pc to edit video?
Can anyone tell me which 16gb ram stick would work with the alpha r2?
Solid review man. Does the built in 960 support Gsync?
Hi, Dave. What is that Logitech Keyboard with track pad in front of your LG monitor (05:42) ? Tried to find it but I can't. Thanks!
dave! first of all awesome review! but i have a question: does the Hdmi 2.0 support 120/144hz at 1080p?
Will you do a video about how the video pass-through works?
I have the R1 model and love it. This R2 model is what I dreamed as a perfect mini PC. Super compact and now with GPU amplifier support =very upgrade-able. Great job Alienware!
Dude, great video. Subbed!
What up Lee !!! since you are on the topic of "alienware". have a question u might have the answer too. planning to buy a gaming laptop. interested in the alienware 15 r2 but just seen the new gtx 980 came out for laptops. question is do you think alienware will have that graphic card choice for there laptop and do you think they will have it for the 15 inch casing ??
Do you make all of the Wallpapers? After watching half of your videos in the last three days I gotta say I appreciate the solid backgrounds.
awesome review! liked and subbed
Really nice video. Can u do a review on Intel skull canyon? Which of these two is better?
Hey Dave, do you have any suggestions for a backpack to carry around a 17" laptop?
How was playing rainbow six on this with the amp? I currently play only Rainbow professionally but play console been thinking about making a switch? What was the frames and did it keep up good with it ?
Hey Dave, can you hook this up to a TV and use it as a pc monitor? or would it just work as a media center for the TV?
The new HP Omen 2016 is coming out this July, will you be reviewing one? Cheers Dave.
Dave! Just found this video through searching, how many fps are you getting on Rainbow Six? and are you using the amplifier?
Great video dude 👍 I'm a pc noob so this was very helpful, I'm looking at getting the i5 version, what do you think?
Yo Dave. I saw you got that 8TB Seagate drive in one of your desk shots ... any thoughts on doing a review of it and your experiences with perhaps different USB-C devices?
Dave! Are you gonna review the 1+3?
:)
The base model with the AMD card can't connect to external, but can the carried forward 860M model?
awesome review 😀
What cables did you buy separate that you used to hook up your pc to your monitor?
Will you take a look at the Skylake Macbook Pros when they'll be out?
Great review. But i have questions. I am planning to purchase the i3 version of Alienware Alpha R2 but I am curious about its gpu which is the Radeon R9 M470X. i couldn't find any benchmark for this gpu. How is it? Is this better than the gpu (gtx 860m) of first Alienware Alpha? TIA.
As someone who decided to build a hulking ATX rig in his Junior year of college, I really appreciate the note at the end on this thing's portability. Great review!
Do you enjoy using mechanical keyboards? Since you seem to mainly use membrane boards in laptops and such.
I think I recall you having one around.
i like them a LOT but if i use them too much, i have a tough time using laptop keyboards
is this limited to only one external display? it's the only thing holding me back from purchasing one. I need my dual screens :(
Any news on if you can overclock the 960 in this Alpha? Have you tried with msi afterburner? Thanks :-)
Best wallpapers. Thanks! =D
I'm thinking of buying this as my first gaming PC, I mostly play FPS and single player RPG, would this setup be acceptable? I have a new 4k TV, can I use that, or should I snag a monitor as well? I'm more interested in the stories of games and not competitive if that helps.
Only just realized I have not subscribed to this channel :(. Great Videos Dave. Hope you get many more views and subscribers.
Really helpful and I think I might buy it so thx
hi great channel and video btw! I had a question could this pc be a good choice for a streaming pc, like run obs, n I gamed on a ps4 at the sametime? thankyou!
Best Video thanks to you now i can buy Alienware Alpha r2 , Love it
How well do you think this or the NUC skull canyon do for web development?
You said the thermals were ok. How long did you test them for?
Is Yellow Light of death gone with newer Alpla?
should i get this or a 1000 desktop with i7 and 6gb 1060 gtx
