$600-$700 for a pc with a gtx 960 is cheap? LOL. A pc like this would easily be ~$1000 3 years ago. Consoles are getting cheaper too, like literally only a couple hundred bucks for the xbox one bundle and a hundred more for ps4. Calling someone stupid for not being able to afford something is quite low.

Took me about 2 months to completely build my PC I couldn't just blow 1300-1500 bucks in a day since I've got bills to pay.
AND you gotta keep in mind, people from Europe and Australia PC parts and shit are way more expensive than America.
Example Nvidia GTX 1080 for Aussies cost 1175
for Americans it costs around 700-800 bucks.
But can it run minecraft on max graphics? Yeah, didn't think so...

How u said the graphics amplifier 'kind of defeats the purpose' I think it's meant to take the alpha places (that's why it's so small) and after you come home, plug up the amplifier, and then you can game with pretty good frame rates.

I wish you showed Arma 3 in this previews of PCs. That's the only thing I'm interested if it comes to PC.
Doubt ArmA 3 would run smoothly on this unless you're playing SP. MP is just a horrible unoptimized shit which requires atlest 16Gb of ram to get the smooth 60 on all servers.

Cool concept, excited to see better versions and i would definately pick one up for traveling / lans, would not mind if it was a bit bigger, like a PS4 or XBOX, if that means it can fit a better graphics card / better parts overall and a better cooling system, sound is important to me.
Really insightful break down. I love the way the box looks, and the power is has. I agree with you on the fact that it has potential, and is a great buy for people who do not know how, or do not want to take the time, to build their own boxes. It will be very interesting to see what the next few years bring for the form factor performance market.

My parents are divorced and this would be the most perfect machine for moving in between houses. I've looked into portable PC's but none are small enough to fit into a laptop backpack. I can't wait to get my hands on one!

Jack the gfx amplifier is for laptops with no dedicated GPU, so you can do work on the go, and then come home to plug that into the amplifier so you can have near desktop performance
without being tethered by a desktop, or having to lug around a big gaming laptop. though given it is a niche product, but still cool
Soooo, it's basically a fucking Laptop... But instead of flat, it's just changed into a thicker polygon... Woopty-fucking-do. PS, Alien-ware over priced, over rated. Build yourself a PC, save 300-500 bucks.
You won't really save much unless you already have some components... Considering the CPU, GPU and RAM are already about 700$, now add Case, Motherboard, Windows, PSU and you get almost the same prize + you have to build it and will have it in about 4x larger case...
Building a PC will always be cheaper in 98% of cases no matter what

the external GPU thing is a good idea for laptops which is what it was designed for originally. You can have your high end laptop with on board gpu and take it on the go with you, and when you're home you plug in the alpha box and have a high end gaming rig

Just a heads up jack. Dual Link DVI(all the pins) can do 144hrz with no problem. One came with my ASUS monitor and I can't tell a difference between that and the display port.

Also on Linux you can install wine which allows you to run executable files BUT it supports only a limited amount of games
hi jack... question, when u were running these benchmarks was Vsync on, and I like the games you use for benchmarking, but it would be nice to see demanding games but with the different engines (like unreal and cryengine, etc.). thanks
