You need to look at the Iron Throne in the TV show from the DP's perspective. They could have made it huge, tall with a bunch of steps, it wouldn't have cost that much more to do it that way, its all plywood and rubber anyways. But think about trying to get the shots, its hard to film a conversation between two people when one person is 15 feet on a platform above the other person. Also if the king(or queen) wants to whisper something to one of their advisers standing next to them, its kind of impossible if you're way up in the air.
Yea but he could go down and whisper then, it would still look bad ass, in my opinion if someone makes a series or a movie out of a book, do it like it's in the book, if don't why make the movie or the series in the first place, do it right or don't.
But think about it like this... how much plotting and scheming goes on in the thrown room??? judrt that’s true because when you look up the author of got and it says George r r Martin the R’s actually stand for Robert and randy. They’re his two best friends but they’re invisible. Idk how you knew about them! Good job!
I had never read the books before seeing the show, and I started watching about 5 years after it started, but I remember hearing something about the iron throne being a towering mass of swords, so when I saw it for the first few times in the show, I had no idea it was the iron throne, I kept waiting to see it, not knowing that I already saw it multiple times.
I think the big version makes more sense, because the say it was forged and melted by a dragon, and it makes more sense that it has been done on this huge throne of swords rather than the little symetric almost perfect throne in the series
I think its feasible (although obviously very difficult and time consuming) to do a "real" version like this image/description using computer graphics. I wonder if anyone has already attempted that?
Ironic how he started writing GOT to get away from the limitations of writing TV in Hollywood, then those very limitations creeped back into Game of Thones when it became a show. But George clearly understands how this works, and it's cool that now we have an amazing show (first half), and something left to the imagination of the readers as well.
Wow, that looks absolutely amazing. Imagine the show but with that beast right there. It would be way cooler when someone sits on it. Bro chills, literal chills 😩
You have to pick where to spend your budget. That CGI chair would have been a PITA to work with as much as it is in the show as the actors would probably have to deal with some sort of green screen setup on a false mock chair or stands and if you're having to build that then why not just make a real chair that's cheaper to build? The effects work to have that chair in the all the shots it is in would have been expensive as hell, especially with all of the actors cross in front and behind it in various scenes. Even the scenes with the tiniest glimpse of the chair in the background would have required CGI work. If you're time and budget limited is that really where you want someone's focus to be on?
The book one looks more awesome but the one in the show is still very iconic. You can understand the reasons to why they made it smaller. Having a good story though, doesn't take up budget so there's really no excuse for that.
Well we are finally getting an animation property of Game of thrones and you watch. The imaginative scale detail of the world and objects is easy to pull off in animation Vs live tv show. I honestly can't wait to see this animated.
The throne in the show is epic, honestly. But this... HOLY SHIT THAT LOOKS INCREDIBLY EPIC (if you didn't know increadebly epic is 10-15 leagues above normal epic, just to inform you) !!!!
Pretty much. The Diamond Throne was collected by the spoils of the hermits' fortune by law of Iskall. It is the symbol of the Cowmercial District and who shall ever be mayor must sit carefully on the mad chair of riches. Also, nice to meet you fellow hermit on this side of youtube.
never read the books but this looks like one of the biggest differences between tv and the books; in this drawing there actually ARE a thousand swords judging by how big it is whereas in the show not only did they make it less than 200 swords like Baelish told varys, they made it a key subject of that episode; Baelish says that the realm is "the thousand swords of Aegons enemies, a story that we agreed to tell each other over, and over, until we forget that its a lie".
Well to be honest the show's throne would be more close to what a blacksmith would've done, they were highly skilled craftmen (at least the ones a lord would hire) so you should expect things like symmetry and at least to have an general shape, not saying his design is wrong, it's just that the reason it's not quite believable

judrt that’s true because when you look up the author of got and it says George r r Martin the R’s actually stand for Robert and randy.
I really want CD Projekt Red to make this a game after Cyberpunk!
DarshUK why would they
promethea why wouldn’t they fuck stick?
That's one of the best ideas I've heard this year
Totally agree
This unfortunately didn't age well
He mentions Littlefinger in a tone of voice which assumes that the listener knows that he is the protagonist.
TheBlackClockOfTime littlefinger as the protagonist? What!!!???
He isn't
I think the big version makes more sense, because the say it was forged and melted by a dragon, and it makes more sense that it has been done on this huge throne of swords rather than the little symetric almost perfect throne in the series
This guy should write a book.
What did he say at 2:46?
I'm dying 😂😂😂
Lmaooo
In this "jshsjsvs" .
In this “hllzzgg”
In this hhhhhhhwww
*Anti-Santa doesn’t want you to sit on his lap.*
Wow this guy really studied up on GoT, he could probably make a whole book about the show.
I cant tell if you're beeing sarcastic or serious
@@Kristi-h4e then you’re stupid
It works in a book, but seeing a king have to sit in something as impractical as that in live action would border on self-parody.
"Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!" - Ozymandias
Did you say ozzyman? The true don.
Wow, that looks absolutely amazing. Imagine the show but with that beast right there. It would be way cooler when someone sits on it. Bro chills, literal chills 😩
The show made dragons and giants but can't make a cgi chair?
I thought exactly the same
No.
@@julianblake8385 No.
Exactly?
You have to pick where to spend your budget. That CGI chair would have been a PITA to work with as much as it is in the show as the actors would probably have to deal with some sort of green screen setup on a false mock chair or stands and if you're having to build that then why not just make a real chair that's cheaper to build? The effects work to have that chair in the all the shots it is in would have been expensive as hell, especially with all of the actors cross in front and behind it in various scenes. Even the scenes with the tiniest glimpse of the chair in the background would have required CGI work. If you're time and budget limited is that really where you want someone's focus to be on?
Such beautiful symbolism of power, no matter how good the person who sits in it is the chair is always evil
This man must be protected at all costs
George by far has the most accurate fan fiction on this series called Game of Thrones.
The book one looks more awesome but the one in the show is still very iconic. You can understand the reasons to why they made it smaller. Having a good story though, doesn't take up budget so there's really no excuse for that.
Whenever this man coughs, people are sweating profusely.
Still kinda sad about season 8. Maybe they'll make it up with their upcoming mini-series... I hope so at least :(
Well we are finally getting an animation property of Game of thrones and you watch. The imaginative scale detail of the world and objects is easy to pull off in animation Vs live tv show. I honestly can't wait to see this animated.
I'm going build it! Watch this space.
If you build it he will come
We will never see the end of this book series. Never.
The throne in the show is epic, honestly. But this... HOLY SHIT THAT LOOKS INCREDIBLY EPIC (if you didn't know increadebly epic is 10-15 leagues above normal epic, just to inform you) !!!!
So, now I have "Baby Throne" doodododdoo playing endlessly in my head.. Baby Throne!
That throne is so sick
Wgaf
even Dany said in the end, she as a child imaged it huge
“Look on my work, yé mighty and despair” who else knows this from school
ozymandias
king of kings
The writers of the show should hire this guy.
The throne from the show is still very iconic. Both are very cool.
This dude doesn’t look like he’ll live to finish another book.
I love the way he talks. Reminds me of another great American writer, Robert Anton Wilson.
Problembeing
I think of an even greater writer. The Dr. Seuss.
So it was supposed to be like the diamond throne from Hermitcraft S7
Pretty much. The Diamond Throne was collected by the spoils of the hermits' fortune by law of Iskall. It is the symbol of the Cowmercial District and who shall ever be mayor must sit carefully on the mad chair of riches.
Also, nice to meet you fellow hermit on this side of youtube.
Game of thrones had 5 Kings, hc has 6 mayoral candidates, or 5 if you don't count doc.
Science Snap
Doc hasn’t played in ages (so no, I don’t count him)
never read the books but this looks like one of the biggest differences between tv and the books; in this drawing there actually ARE a thousand swords judging by how big it is whereas in the show not only did they make it less than 200 swords like Baelish told varys, they made it a key subject of that episode; Baelish says that the realm is "the thousand swords of Aegons enemies, a story that we agreed to tell each other over, and over, until we forget that its a lie".
The show completely changed the story. Not the biggest change
He never has something bad to say about the show I like that
What happened at around 2:45."They painted the hulls of these ships in this Huwwuhh" lol Is that how they say Hall in Belfast, Ireland?
Roy Slapped huwwuhh is my favorite color
Even this version of the Iron throne is nothing compared to the throne of Khorne!
Blood for the BLood GOD!
Skulls for the Skull throne!
Well to be honest the show's throne would be more close to what a blacksmith would've done, they were highly skilled craftmen (at least the ones a lord would hire) so you should expect things like symmetry and at least to have an general shape, not saying his design is wrong, it's just that the reason it's not quite believable
Imagine one rusted sword piece falling on the ruler.
Valyrian steel never rusts.
@@pramodnaidu4202 The Iron Throne is not made of Valyrian steel.
