My mother inlaw made this all the time. But I have never seen meringue put on the top. I have made it too for years. It looks great and I loved watching it. God bless you all.
I'm definitely trying this fast banana pudding. It looks really good. Thanks Tammy and Chris for all the time you put into doing these videos. I think I can say for everyone here, we appreciate you!
Whenever I see one of these banana puddings I think of my daddy. They are his favorite. I tried to make him one 20 yrs ago and I ruined it. You have made this look easier so I'm tempted to try and make him another one. I had never even considered scraping the middle of the banana out. I don't like them turning brown so fast. They look unappetizing to me so I'm really excited to try this. Thank you for y'all's hard work making these videos. I've learned so much from ya'll! 😘
Oh my goodness, I have been making banana pudding for over 40 years on my stove top and this pudding is just a good! Thank you so much for this time saving recipe.
Yum! Since I've been watching you I've become a lot faster in the kitchen! I love how quickly you throw things together, you don't miss a beat! Your confidence in the kitchen is magic to watch!
You just can't get much more southern than old fashioned, homemade banana pudding, and this one looks scrumptious!! Thanks Tammy and Chris, for another favorite! 🤗 Blessings to you and your precious family ❤💕
Banana pudding was my late father’s favorite dessert. When he and Mom married, she asked his mother for the recipe, which she carefully wrote down on an index card and used for over 50 years. When Mom passed away, I continued to make Dad a banana pudding every year on his birthday, using our ‘secret family heirloom’ recipe. Dad is no longer with us, but my banana pudding is still a command performance dish at family gatherings. I discovered just a couple of years ago that our cherished family recipe was actually the one from the side of the Nabisco vanilla wafer box with one small difference. We use cornstarch instead of flour as it makes the custard silkier. I will have to try cooking the custard in the microwave, as I have always done it on the stovetop, stirring like a fiend over low heat since I don’t have a double-boiler like the recipe suggests. It sure is hard to beat those old classic recipes! ❤️
@@carrington2949 Exactly. Almost any recipe that calls for flour as a thickening agent can use cornstarch instead, just use half the amount. If the recipe calls for 1/4 cup flour, sub 1/8 cup cornstarch.
I have been cooking for eons 60 yrs + my favorite vanilla is Adams BEst even though I have the more expensive on hand. My daughter in law lives in California and also prefers Adams. I send her a decouple of large bottles when she needs. I just love it ❤
I’m 44 years old and have NEVER liked banana pudding until I tried this. It is the BEST EVER, and it is so Easy! My hubs likes it too! ❤️ Thank you!!!!
Most of the young cooks like to use Instant pudding and cream cheese and kool whip in their banana pudding and it’s very good but I love the old fashion cooked pudding and meringue on top. Just can’t beat this recipe. Got to make one for Sunday dinner. Thanks for sharing❤️
I really appreciate this shortcut to the old method - its wonderful and time saving !!! 👏👏👏. If you happen to have a high wattage microwave, you might want to check the pudding after two minutes, as it can cook quicker and get real thick fast. If you make a mistake don't throw the egg away as she did but put it in a container to use in a cake, pancake or for breakfast; i am pretty sure, she would have but it was live at the time.

Hello from Georgia. My name is Cindy. I just wanted to say, my husband and I, love watching your videos. After we watched this, I plan to make this for my husband. Thank you for all your delicious looking recipe videos. Please add more recipe ideas for those with diabetes, like me. Blessings to you and yours, and thanks again.😊
My Granddaughter loves homemade banana pudding. She bought herself 4 small servings at the school bands fish fry today. She ate one and took the others home for later. I promised to make her a homemade one so now I will try your recipe. Looks very good. Thank you.
Been watching your channel for a while and just found out your from Cedartown. I lived there a couple years in 69 and 70 on 5th street and Central Ave. I loved the small town. Keep up the good work.
Tammy, I have to tell you that since I watched this video I regularly make pudding in the microwave. The butter whisked in is certainly imperative. I keep whisking in cream or half and half until it is smooth and AS you promised the small lumps smooth out and disappear. I have chickens, so eggs are plentiful, and I have had fun adding cocoa, or butterscotch chips, or strawberry compote off the stove. Plain vanilla over Nilla Wafers is delicious, too! I care for a 94 year old disabled veteran 24 7 and it really taxes my strength and drains me. When I am too tired to bake, I whip up your pudding and all of our manthings are HAPPY! I can't thank you enough. Kudos from Texas! 🤠👩🌾🥰👩🍳
Looks really good! My MIL used to make a homemade filling... I’ve never seen an oven rack retract back in automatically like that! Thanks for sharing your recipe! 😋
I saw that you use Salad Máster Cookwear the first time I watched your show. I just turned 72 this past Monday and my momma got her first set of Salad Master when I was 9 or 10. I bought my first set when I was 22 and a second set when I was 42. My first set went to my son. My momma’s first set, her only set, went to my brother when she passed away at age 89. All this to say you are one savvy lady not just about cooking but what you use to cook with. Salad Master is a lifetime investment and I don’t even sell it I have only cooked with it for 2 lifetimes. I love your cooking and how personal you are while you teach your viewers how to cook real food! Thank you. Granny J
I thank you for this quick method!! I have never cared for the meringue on top so I make the custard thicker so I can add the whipped egg whites to it... I fold em into the slightly cooled custard and it just makes it a bit lighter but keeps me from wasting the whites...
Tammy, you inspired me. Today for Easter I made a Lemon Curd Trifle with homemade whipped cream and lemon blueberry cake. I figured since you made this pudding in a microwave I would try to make curd that way. It turned out wonderful.
I noticed you have a Temptations dish you put your banana pudding in. I love Tempations. I have the black set that I bought on QVC. Yes, I am a QVC addict!!! I love Valerie Parr Hill TOO!!
Tammy, I enjoy watching you cook because you are real. You also explain what you are doing very well and makes it easy for me to follow along. I made your Super Good Spaghetti yesterday, and you named it right! Delicious!! Today I made your banana pudding without the meringue. My husband doesn't care for meringue. I have only tried homemade banana pudding once before and doing it on the stove was difficult, for me, and it turned out way thicker than I wanted. I hadn't tried again until I saw your recipe using the microwave. Perfect results! Thank you for being you and for putting yourself "out there" to teach all of us.

I make banana and coconut cream pies for my family gatherings well last yr a cousin decided to make them pies knowing that I did every yr . Ok I let her . Mine was always homemade . She made both pies with instant pudding from box . I was so beside my self I walked out with a smile on my face and I swore to them I will never make them my pies again . And then I make my pies for me n my hubby and send them a picture ohhh sooo gooood . And they know they are . And I say enjoy your box pie always with a smile
Love your videos. Because of you I love making microwave cream pies. Such a time saver. Question, What else can be used in place of regular milk in a cream pie? I think I heard you say once to try evaporated milk on a video. If that’s possible, would it be a mixture of milk or straight evaporated milk? How about using heavy whipping cream? If it’s possible, I think either option would make it so much richer. I knew you would have the answer. Thanks so much.
Most of my creampies call for evaporated milk but we use a cup of evaporated milk in a cup of water. So we use water with evaporated milk cuz the evaporated milk is a equivalent cream and to me it's just too rich if you use all cream
2 things you can do 1.. to keep bananas from browning. Slice them into lemon juice pat them with a paper towel. 2) yes meringue is raw.. HOWEVER you can add lemon juice OR white vinegar INSTEAD OF cream of tartar. It does 2 things, it does the same as the cream of tartar as well as make the meringue safe to eat WITHOUT cooking it. I learned this when I lived in Italy. It is next to impossible to find cream of tartar there. The reason so many Americans get sick from eggs is stores wash off the protective layer that is naturally there once they are laid. Eggs in Italy are sold rught from the shelf not refrigerated IN FACT it is Illegal in Italy for companies to wash the eggs that are shipped to stores. Eggs are left on counters at home unless extremely hot. We bought 30 eggs every other week and never did we get sick. You wash your eggs before cracking them . To test if they are good before using put them in a bowl of water. If they float they are bad. The traditional type of tiramisu that was made there had meringue in it mixed in with marscapone. I made this tiramisu every other week and nobody ever became ill and we lived there for four and a half years. Also when watching the video the cream of tartar barely made it in to the meringue as it stuck to the side of the bowl and also the dust exited. Best to turn off your mixer before adding.
I've got to try this. Now that my grandsons are back from summer vacation and back in school, they are always hungry. They will eat the whole pan if this and I'm being serious. I don't know where they are storing all the food they eat and not an ounce of fat on em. Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida🌴😎💙😎🌴

I am not a big coffee drinker so I really never could make good coffee. We had a kerug once and it did ok but I so wanted restaurant tasting coffee and never could get it. Any suggestions or a video on making good coffee would be really great. Thanks!
I use a Kuerig Janice, but I am so glad you are getting to cook more! And your husband can cook, he is like Chris!
I like it!
Great job ! ,,,,,,
Slice your bananas into orange juice. Let set for 5 minutes and drain. This will keep your bananas from turning dark in your pudding
Walmart international food section, look for the vanilla flavoring, it is amazing and very reasonable.
