This is a seriously needed modification for the RS5 and the quality of workmanship is insane. I've got this installed on my 2015 RS5 and not only did it drop my transmission temps by around 15-20 degrees, but the high flow crash bar allows a ton more airflow and has less drain on the primary radiator which in turn has dropped my oil temps by around 5-10% (it's also an aesthetic upgrade when looking through the RS grill). The car now doesn't lose power when the transmission gets too hot, an excellent, overlooked modification to keep you at peak performance if you have any sort of aftermarket tune, ESPECIALLY any sort of TCU/transmission tune.
Don't be disgruntled! It comes with full instructions in PDF format which customers who purchase the kit receive. It's quite easy to install. I don't release it to the general public as I do not want others copying my hard work!
Hello RS5 Fanatic, do you still have your RS5 and is the transmission still in good order ? I haven't seen any new videos for quite a while... I currently have a 2010 S5 4.2l and am thinking of upgrading to an RS5 but all the talk about problems with the dual clutch transmission and repair/replacement scares the heck out of me. If I buy a 2015 low km's and then ended up having to replace the trans that would be big bucks comparable to purchasing a nice used B9 lol ! But then that would defeat the purpose of wanting a screaming V8 and I'm sure the B9's have their own problems that may soon start to surface ...
Hi Adrian! Yes, still have the RS5 and I'm a bit behind on videos admittedly! I opened up my own company, www.redmistracing.com and have been working on a number of projects. I am now at 75,000 imperial miles and the transmission is doing fine. I have a 2013 and no issues. I've sold hundreds of the trans cooler kits across the globe. I'd say go for a car with a good maintenance history and do not skimp on future maintenance. You should be ok. Also, pick up a Ross-Tech VCDS for diagnosing any issues which come up. My car has been mostly maintenance free except for a few minor issues. There are also forums with lots of technical discussions about the RS5, www.audirevolution.net being one of the better ones. I'm on there as well!
My 2012 rs5 recently went in for a dsg repair due to a gear position sensor conking off. Part was not expensive. Just that the entire dsg had to be dismantled to replace the part. No issues apart from that.
Just, curious have you had any mechatronic failures yet? I have a 2015 RS 5 with only 29K miles and had two failures. Read in the forums that it happens due to poor cooling of the controller unit pcbs soaking in hot ATF. Thinking of installing this cooler after my latest fix.
I've had none and out of the three years the RS5 was brought here, the 2013's "should" be the most failure prone. My RS5 is a 2013. Can you shoot me an email? I'd like to hear more about your mechatronic failures and see if maybe we can pinpoint something that's causing them to fail. redmistracingllc@icloud.com
@@RS5Fanatic The "TPMS + Gearbox Malfunction ,No Reverse, Continue Driving" Error is a big problem with DL501 transmissions. Fix normally consists of repairing the mechatronic unit with a repair kit, replacing it completely or finally replacing the entire transmission. Several folks on audi forums have documented the problem even at 5K miles. The was a law suit brewing up against Audi for this flaw but seems it did not go through. DL501 owners are now stuck with fixes costing from 4K to 13K for new transmissions. I've done two mechatronic replacements. Now probably looking at replacing the entire transmission. I'll send you a message to email in a few
JH Motorsports is working on a supercharger kit. Know that just going stage 2, naturally aspirated, the car has the potential to run a sub 12-second 1/4 mile. As far as reliability goes, best to hit up the forums and ask that question. Overall, it's a very reliable car. I daily drive mine and I've had one issue in almost 70,000 miles. Other than that, it's been a tank. The mechatronic unit in the transmission is probably the biggie but it doesn't affect all cars and the transmission cooler kit I make helps greatly in the reliability department. Check out forums.audirevolution.net/c/a5-s5-rs5/13 Tons of RS5 owners there that can answer the reliability questions, myself included!
For which Audi? But yes, it should fit. I currently have a few kits on supercharged RS5's around the country and one S5 with an aftermarket intercooler.
Kelvin, yes it will. I have several running around in Australia, Asia and Europe. Send me an email, sales@redmistracing.com as we have a group buy going on and I can get you an accurate price on shipping overseas.
The cross bar and adapters do fit. The routing of the lines may be a bit different though, need an S4 to examine. Worst case scenario, I can set you up with the cross bar, cooler core, line adapters and harness and you can make the braided hose lines yourself. If you know of anyone with a B8 or B8.5 in the San Antonio area, I'd need to look at the area in between the headlight and radiator as well as down below the headlight area. But I know the cross bar fits a B8 S4 and a B8.5 S5.
Hi. What I dont understand is why to do nasa tech if u can simple buy from scrap yard vw toureg or similar trans oil cooler with lines and termostat very very cheap, compared of yours nasa, small tune of all pipes, relocate wifi unit from grille and fit that cooler on oem crash bar. And thats it. Tuned crashbar for me would be useless as there is front number plate..
I think most don't really want to put unproven junkyard equipment and cut up their factory lines to install something which won't be nearly as effective. The new cross bar allows for more airflow and you can still mount a front plate. Plus my system will work if a larger heat exchanger is added for forced induction (turbo, supercharger) and it creates almost six more inches of clearance. My system is also bolt-on and fully reversible. Zero cutting, zero having to relocate the Homelink (it's not a Wifi transmitter) and the core is far more efficient than a used Toureg core of unknown origin or history. I'd never put a used heat exchanger core on my car or anyone else's car. But to each their own. It's your car, do with it as you please. Some people want and have the means to install a well-engineered system like this one that actually works as intended and is motorsports grade.
This is the very best RS5 channel on YT bar none folks
Thank you Wade! Greatly appreciated.

Just ordered!!! Will have to get one for my s4 also
Saw the order! Waiting on RS5-specific brackets but I do have S4 brackets in stock!
Would be nice if instructions were included with the kit or if a install video was online.

What wheel size and offset you running? Looks perfect
Thanks Rob! They're 20x10's and I don't actually remember the offset to be honest. Tires are 285/30/20 and not the normal 275/30/20.

Do you deliver to the uk?
I do! I have at least a dozen kits running around in the UK. sales@redmistracing.com My business website is www.redmistracing.com
Im planning on buying an rs5 i have just 2 questions. Is there a super charger kit for it and what problems should I look out for?

@@RS5Fanatic thank you so much for the advice
You can install compressor kit
Does this fit if you have an aftermarket intercooler?

I love your car!
Anything coming for the 2020 RS5 coupe?
No plans for the B9 although I am looking at an improved oil cooler as that seems to be one area of weakness on the new platform.
There's more information in the description below the video.
will this fit on a non face lifted b8 rs5
