It's an important topic and an important thing to add is people should stop objectifying and fetishizing Korean guys online. It's one thing to like the physical appearance of someone you've never met (I won't lie, I'm 100% drooling over Park Bo Gum and over a Korean content creator I'm following on Instagram) but some people really cross the line, making toxic comments on their posts, demanding attention during their live streams, asking TMI questions... Respecting people seems to be a foreign concept to these folks. 🙄

I wish i found this post before i got scammed lol
At the very beginning the guy didn't ask me money, but he said he wanted to give me these and those. I declined it, but he insisted. He said he already sent the package. But in the end, he said there was a local fee had to be paid, then he asked me money for that. Stupid me i fell for it because he gave me a reason that he spent a lot of money to buy me those things, and there was some money inside the package.
Anyway, guys and girls, if you meet someone thru online, and never meet them personally eyes to eyes, once they asked you money, then it's time for you to run away. XD
      Be safe!

Just to add to what Danny said about him "not being your boyfriend", there are many creepy people out there. Young women, especially, should be careful of sex trafficking and grooming behavior that predators initiate online. In general, it's a good idea to NEVER give out personal info or get invested in people you've never met in real life.

Thanks for the reminder, Dan. Such a good topic to share to raise awareness!👍✨
After living for decades, I've been going through various scams in many forms and motives, whether it's online or offline, from personal experience or from other people, victims or not. And guess what's the similarity between them all? The perpetrator often takes advantage of people's emotions when they do their crimes.
Those perpetrators target the target's fragility of emotions, like loneliness, compassion, or even love to trick their victim and get what they want. Most of their motives are money, but sex, fame, and status are no exception.
My advice is, to arm yourself with knowledge and experience, that is not limited to your own. Learn how to know the "signs" when people want something from you or want to harm you, like body language, choice of words, and how to avoid threats.
And also remember to not be the slave of your own desires. Because those criminals usually know your desire and try to lure you with that. Don't let yourself be their easy target!

The only time I had an interaction with a so-called celebrity via social media DMs, the guy wasn't really big everywhere yet and I'm the one who looked for the account. I sent a message congratulating him on the great work, saying it really mattered even to older people like me (the guy is much younger than I am) and I added I wasn't expecting an answer or anything, I just wanted him to know his work was appreciated. Unsurprisingly, the message remained unanswered for months... And then one day I got a notification and there was a simple, short reply. A simple thank you and a compliment. That was it. It was nice to get an answer when I didn't expect any but it wasn't the start of anything...

Danny, Thank you for addressing this topic. In addressing getting emails from celebrities, please note that celebrities have paid staff that monitor all their social media accounts, so chances are you would NEVER be getting an email from the celebrity personally. A rule of thumb should be, if you wouldn't let someone you didn't know in your house, don't allow them to be be added as a friend on your page and access your personal information. Unfortunately, the computer allows anonymity, so look for the red flags like Danny outlined and don't become a victim. Hopefully, people are open to receiving this information to allow them to safely use social media. Danny, Have you eaten?😉

I think we all naturally want to feel special and that's why people want to believe it's their fave celebrity. If people step back and think about it logically, celebrities will never ask strangers for money when they can ask friends, family, their company, etc.
Edit: The same goes for anyone claiming [x] acct is a private account, whether it's a stranger or a friend. If you don't know the person, there is no reason for them to ask you for anything. If you do know the person, don't assume it's them and just go "okay"... call them up and confirm it's their acct before providing any personal info, etc.

But it's the same offline. Yes, you can see their faces but there are also people in the streents, claiming they want to collect mony for a charity so they need your credit card information etc.
What's also a strange thing - in Germany atm - there are people calling elder people claiming to be their grandchild who needs money and they should bring it at one special place or worse claiming to be police officers and the money isn't safe anymore at home or in the bank so they should collect it and bring it to a special place to give it to 'officers' who will put the money in a safe.

    2. Someone I met online (a GREAT Guy), proposed...but we had met in person and I had talked to his family - including his mom - before the Proposal. It only ended bc my "emotional fighting style" kicked in, and I said something deplorable (but I really believe we weren't supposed to be together. He was "practice.")
    3. Somebody RECENTLY pretended to be my Crush, and I totally ignored him from the start. No dialogue.

Unfortunately, online dating is actually not safe for women, especially very young women. My girlfriend has been dating online for a while and always told me when and where she was meeting because I was always worried. (But online dating has been a success for her.🙃😊)
It's a pity that you have so many spams with your commercial email. That robs valuable energy. All the better that you address it and say it. Good job dear Dan.

This is really …a very actual subject of debate, questions to ask, answers requested from the people responsible of this field… indeed😢
I was thinking myself: maybe some entertainment agencies or persons inside- encourage this kind of “fan contribution”, because donations are not taxed and because when they are asked if they are or not connected with an email adress (…), nobody answers, nobody deny or agree, or make a statement of delimitation… this is only a K- phenomenon or is global? This kind of insecurity and confusion they do, cannot be prevent? … some of them are extraordinary smart and act phenomenal.

This has actually happened to me a lott over the past 2 years or so. In the past 8 months it has gotten a lot more intense. Going from 6 fake interactions per year to 80 over the past 8 months. It is really critical to know the red flags of scamming to avoid becoming a victim. So many people can and should benefit from this video and any other videos like this. There are millions of people on the internet pretending to be someone they are not for the soul purpose of targeting people so as to scam them out of there money, trust, and or identity if possible. As a result of my experience and the fact I seem have become a faceted target. I have started working with The FBI through my local Police department to reduce, prevent and hopefully stop all internet scams. This is a very serious situation that needs to end.

Seriously though, I LOVE when scammers message me. I’ve talked to 20 different people claiming to be different members of BTS. I know from their first message they are scammers. But I play along to waste their time. Currently the scam is that I do not have the proper membership card (even though I know i have the correct one) and their management won’t let them talk to me until I buy the official one which costs anywhere from $300-$3,000 dollars.
I am VERY GOOD at detecting scammers. They have a certain “speech” pattern in their messages. Wish we lived closer together to collaborate on this and educated others. It amazes me the people that fall for it. Because quite honestly, the scammers are not very good at it.

I never accept it but how people is so idiot to believe they are real??? Come on!!!

    1. Tell them that you know the true and that they are fake and see their reactions. Always Always and Always get angry.

I will admit I have had this happen to me as well. Someone tried to catfish me by pretending to be a celebrity, I talked to the person for about three months. It was very simple conversations, but there were so many little things in those text messages that were so fishy, that there was no way I would believe I was talking to who the person claimed they were. It was bad. Never saw their face (they refused every time I asked) or heard their voice and I tried, tried to convince them to do it too. I had to roll my eyes at a lot of the things the person said, because they were so weird and often over the top... Anyways I ended things after he asked for inappropriate things. I will admit I was torn at parts, I am a normal functioning human woman, I also played the "what if" game while talking to the person, but my logic and suspicious nature kept that imaginative, wishful part of my brain in check.

I have so much empathy for celebrity's, actors, idols, famous youtubers, etc. They are paid to entertain you, and are very vulnerable to those that are very toxic to their career paths. Just like any job, they have the right to their privacy and do not owe the public anything. If an account is not verified, it is not them. I just block them and go on with my day! There are very few celebs, etc that would directly reach out to anyone. They may do a LIVE and answer questions, but that's it! Even if you are part of their fan base and pay for a membership to their fan club, they still don't. Their safety is the most important and their management companies make sure that they abide by the protocols and rules that are set up to keep them safe. Famous youtubers may reach out, but you know when it's them. I have several I chat with, and they do not give their address or meet up with random people. My friend lives in Korea and is a famous youtuber. She has even appeared in a netflix kdrama so she has become even more famous. Thankfully, she has taken all the steps to remain safe. Lonely people are vulnerable, and most celebs are lonely. They are in a very small world trying to achieve a dream.

    .
    .

    .
    .
    .
    oh. but wait.
thats no more possible. bcos youtube long time ago, completely eleminated the PM box option lol 😂 😂 (for a good reason i guess haha)
    but seriously...
you have to take care Dan, just to not get too much into it (with others who ask you for help?) bcos youre not the hired "YT-Psych-doc" or something, sigh.. and these kiddos - no matter if naive or what so ever else - they really are poor souls...
i always thought that at least everyone - no matter what age and no matter how much intelligance but every single one must have at least enough of an amount of braincells in their heads, to at least make all their alarm-bells ringing very loudly whenever something like that would happen. (i guess even if alarms go on , some of them still would ignore it and wish rather to believe a scam?) sad...
    but you are right Dan...
it Happens a lot .. really really A LOT. + it can happen to everyone.
(**here on youtube - i have also a CELEB, who always stalks me and my comments no matter where i go lmao**) uhh.....right.... - wanna know who that is? 🤣🤣🌝🌝
    its Ji Chang Wookie.. sigh.
(whenever i see that, i report directly+the most time they really delete that or accounts even lol) but its just like a drop on the hot stone.
bcos these scammers can open new accounts with new emails and so on ...
but the worst thing is really when someone try to get your heart and into your soul, brain, playing with your feelings and starts destroying your life and privacy...
i could really never fall for these kind of (even if i agree with you that it can happen to everyone!! - but seriously. ---- at ONE point, even if a smart girl like me would EVERfall for such idiot, at one point i would wake up. - AND THAT would be: when "my guy" then would tell me "give me money".)
why would a celeb even ask you that?
think about it, just for once!!!.... nooo waaay... i mean....no matter who you are!
like Dan said here.. they have family + friends etc and even if i would be asked that question - my reply would be directly to them and - without even thinking ONe sec about it :
    -------------- > > "yup, ....CALL YOUR MANAGER !!!! " ....lmao°!°😋😋🙈🤣🤣
    PS:
    last but not least:
BE careful when youre online, everyone!!!
    Do it like me!
    bcos...my privacy is holy.
i never share to no one and no where online - my real name, adress, not even country lol
i never even put a real photo of me on any of my accounts.. (what does not mean that i never used one for a song or such ever online or shared)
but tbh, i also dont even use accounts like insta fb or such.. for a very good reason...believe me.
if i talk anywhere to someone... (with anywhere i mean these socials i have in use) then its mostly about singing or music - and how we would duet etc but also when its about discussing a drama or movie too .... there is not neccessary to tell or share my privacy for that discussion right?
    and excuse me?
but, ....even if we will starting being friends.. we can be friends and talk about everything but - until i cant trust eventually one day? - you wOnt get anything of me but my first nickname and my friendship - well , this, if youre worth it ...!! AND TRUST is not something you just give or get, you have to earn it first..!!😁😁😁😁
(and i made some worthy friends online, that is a fact...not everyone is a scammer hehe)
just keep your ears + eyes open....
Dont fall for such idiots who have no life and rather destroy other persons lifes... !
If you want to meet a celeb or have a BF, then go out and get one or go to that places where these ppl are around - who knows? ...never say never... - maybe your lucky?
you never know. but then, at least it will be real, if ya know what im saying....😎
