You can also just open the _Windows_ tab in the top bar, then click _Essential Sound_ so the Essential Sound window shows, then select all the tracks you want to normalize, go to _preset_ -> _dialogue_ -> _standard_ and then in the _intensity_ sub-category select _match automatically_ - could be named something else, it's in German for me, so I had to translate it. Easy as that and you've automatically equalized every single track at the same time.
Thank you so much, IDK premiere had a such powerful tool
@@isaacsjaimes No problem, I'm happy it helped 😁
These levels are WAYYYY higher than international broadcast standards......
You're awesome! I learned two things. 1. right click, audio gain 2. ctrl + click on a footage or audio will insert keyframes. You are awesome, keep creating helpful stuff!
The first video I clicked was not NEARLY as straightforward as this. Thanks for making it!
Should have a tutorial on blending with Background music. How to get that good Balance.
Super Helpful. Audio has always been really counter intuitive for me. This was a really concise and effective video. Thanks man!
ok. this is perfect bro. thank you. so much time saved.
THANKS!! I just discover this now and been using levelator ever since bfore lol. This is video helps a lot and makes even faster
if you're mixing audio u should normally keep averages at -12 and peaks at -8
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I think this youtuber got this one wrong. By all standards, -12db is the normal, pleasant audio level for almost everybody.
Thank you! I wanted to double check if it was supposed to be around -12
Aye so do I normalize max peek to -12 then normalize all peeks to -8??
This is correct, however, you should peak it at 0, as there are many devices that watch your videos. On some of them, audio playback isn't good and it helps a lot if the audio is loud. You can always adjust the volume yourself. Most good RUclipsrs actually peek their audio at 0 and that's why most videos are at the same volume level.
@@edwincarrasquillo4866 No. Averages around -12 (so dialogue) most things are to preference after you get your dialogue at that average and then normally MAX peaks (so the loudest sounds in your film) are at -8 or -6. I can double check with my sound friends but thats a good rule. UNLESS you are putting content on the WEB then u can have your peaks at 0 and adjust everything else to that if that makes sense?
great quick video, keep coming back to this ever now and again, thanks.
3 years later and it is still hard to find a good quality video about the audio levels... Good job man!
I love how you explained it.
Perfectly explained. Thank you so much!
Thank you! This is what i lacked
You da man ;) I have been struggling with getting my audio to the same levels for ages. I was manually increasing/decreasing the audio level which was a total ball ache
I just deleted a video from my channel because the audio was way to low on android but perfect on pc 🙈 So i'm gonna edit again, thanks for the useful video! ✌️
Shouldn´t average audio be around -12?
usually yes but I heard that for youtube it's usually a good idea to go as loud as you can without clipping or distorting audio to accommodate a big range of devices
@@finneeeeas My audio varies as I make my voice loud than my game then when theres a cutscene I raise the volume up. I feel for me im blancing it well but I been doing it near april time. so im still learning.
I do it manually I didn't realize u can get it to do it for u.
For tracking, input volume should max at -12 ...basically the equivalent of analog 0. Mix output (which is basically what this video is talking about) just needs to be below digital 0db output... essentially it just has to not clip the signal. This is at least my current understanding of it.
Isn't broadcast standard at -6?
Now I don't have to manually adjust them, thanks a lot. This is gonna make my videos much better.
thank u man! ive been looking for this
heyyyyyyy
thank you
Very helpful. I've been trying to figure this out. Your video really helped!
Thanks mate, you actually gave me what I was exactly looking for!
Thank you so much for this guide. I really, really appreciate it
I'm in edit mode, and this video was a life saver! thanks for making this! #blessings
This is super helpful man. Great tip about normalizing using Premiere Pro. Thank you Kyler!
This video is amazing!!!!
Super helpful.
I love it ❤️💯
WOW thank you!
I always got told that you should stay in the yellow without having red, red is when you have distortion in sound
at 0 dbFs yes...but in Premiere the meter without colour gradient is red above around -3. To be safe hard limit at -3 or just be sure if you are in the red you are not over 0 it will not distort
Perfect timming, I've just started producing RUclips videos and I need this. I will apply the same concept but in Final Cut Pro, tomorrow I'm shooting a Rode VideMicro vs GoPro Hero 5 Black Micro comparison and i will use these tips. Thanks man!
thank you man.. please use an anti-pop filter to your voice recording, i couldn't finish the video on headphones,
thank youu !!
Thank you,! This was very helpful and easy to follow!
Woo hoo! Thank you for this! You are the best! 🙌
that was super insightful! thank you so much for these. should've used it on my last vlog hah! will use it on my next one. thanks man, you're a legend for this one!
What you're looking for is 3:02
you know what's funny, this is the first video I've watched talking about audio where their audio is good.
This was so helpful. Thank you.
Thank you sir
What would the proper levels be for Background music under your voices
shortcut for gain: click on the clip and press G on the keyboard
Thanks a lot. I needed this simple tutorial.
Is there a tool to set all audio in a clip between a maximum and minimum dB? For instance, can I tell Premiere to adjust all audio in the clip to fall between -9 and -12 dBs? Thanks!
I usually run a compressor in reaper before putting in premier
thank you so much for this video!!!
Sorry, I think you're getting everything too loud. There is a reason the meters go from green to yellow to red. Red means STOP, it's too loud. Yellow means caution that you're approaching too loud. Your assertion that holding into the green (at -12) is too soft is incorrect. I suggest you read some pro audio recording info about where the pros keep their levels... some of them average around -18 to -14. Your recordings at -6 to 0 leave you absolutely no headroom for loud passages. I've been recording professionally for years and think my nominal recording level of -14 is plenty loud. And, I have headroom for the occasional cymbal crash without going anywhere near the "red zone".
Thanks a lot Kyler, this really helped!
Perfect brah
Great video!
Industry standard stereo is -12db!
At times, I have found that to be too quite for some scenarios.
I agree with Mister Sammo. -12db is the right level of audio. On this video, your audio is extremely high... even for the ones you say are perfect. I'll do more research on this. But in the meantime, I'm sticking to -12db.
source ?
He's correct. I've mixed TV shows for SKY. You definitely don't want any peaking in the red, like in the video above. -12db is the way to go.
we are also talking youtube not TV ... if my tv is to quite I just crank the receiver ... my cellphone or laptop is limited ... also spoken word -0.1db (0db close enough in most cases) other sounds sure -12db may be ok though I tend to edit at about -9db for music on my videos ... again thanks to youtube compression ... -12db is fine for lossless audio for which youtube is not
Thank you so much! Super helpful!!!
Thank you.
Great tutorial. Thank you so much! Saving for later.
super helpful!
I really needed this thank you just finished my final final lol
thanks for the tips! really useful
This is what i'm looking for... Ty.. actually its simple but its hard to find it... I used to add volume level from effects and set it to 6dB all the time cos my mic's sound is so low...
Thank you sir!
Thanks man.
awesome video man!!! I didn't know about the right click> audio gain option... And keeping the audio levels -6 to -3 is something i will work on :-)
Can you plz do more after effect videos ? And more tutorials more often plz ? I love your videos !!
Thanks.
Thank you, you’re a life saver.
thank you so much!
nice!
thanks Kyler
good job man
v helpful CC tutorial bro (:
a labtop?
THANK YOU
thank you kyler!
Thanks
Awesome. Splendid.
You are a weapon bro.
Hey man !! I always watched your tutorials and its very educating. One thing i am very curious of, is that how do you find your Background music?
Maaan, you earn my sub for this. My recent video's audio levels was so low I didn't even notice because based on what I am hearing on my earphones are okay for me. But then when I have uploaded it to youtube and watch it on my phone. I was like 'Whaaaaaaaaaat'. Good thing you made a video about this HAHAHA. You got my like, comment and subscribe maan! Keep on making premiere pro videos
Hey great video thanks! I always wanted to know how to do the same thing if I have multiple audio tracks... :-/ any idea? Thank you!
I really appreciate the incredible tips here! I'm still trying to learn how to edit videos properly and trying to figure out the right levels for the audio has always been a MAJOR pain to deal with so that it sounds right. I'll definitely need to remember some of this stuff here to make future content better
You are the best
Nice tutorial thanks a lot
I never thought of that before 👍
When is your next video? :D Keep it up!
Thanks!! its help a lot
thank you, that helped
THank you.
amazing
Thanks for your help
Thanks for sharing. I learned something I didn’t know. Is there a way to highlight all the audio in my video (from all clips) and set them all to be the same or do I need to edit clip by clip?
the tv standart is maximum of -6db. 0db is way tooo loud.
Agreed.
You know what happened I edited video by using head phone then I listened that one without head phone... I can't hear the audio properly
Yo, I've adjusted all the audio to 0db just like you explained in this video (some of the particularly soft clips to higher db levels) - and i'm unable to render these portions of the video (I get an unknown error message)
I have no idea how to fix this and have tried several things - Can anybody help me out?
Great video 👍
You on Angel’s Landing or nah
ur in missouri btw
This makes my audio quality worse sometimes :/
Helpful 👍
what if I keep the normal video sound without any editing?
thanks !!
Do I have to do this to every single clip, or is there a way to do it to all?
i had the same question in mind :-)
maybe an adjustment layer?? I don't know...
I'll have to play with that. Thanks
Audio engineers would cry with this misinformation!😅
Decrease audio level in the ending of video please?
