This video was genuinely so helpful. I’ve been struggling with the placement of the molds, just couldn’t get my head around how I was supposed to fill the molds the right side up with the wick sat on the bottom making it uneven, I have been pouring them on a sort of cross grid tray that’s about an inch high with my little wicks just hanging out on the underside 😂 why I have never paid attention to the blue tack trick I will never know. Just saved this fella so so much time massive thankyou 😂
Thank you so much for that! I asked my partner what I should do as I had no clue and he suggested maybe using something hot like the thermometer and poke it thru the candle once it had set. And he’s pretty ingenious! Clearly that would’ve been the last thing we would’ve wanted to do! Thanks so much for your video tutorial!!!!
I am going to be using a silicone mold for the first time can Parrafin wax also be used In it ( I usually use mason jars for housed candles or metal molds to make stand alone candles ) I went looking for a how to use a silicone mold and came upon this video
Hi there, yes absolutely you can use paraffin wax! Everything else I explained in the video is the same. Just watch your pouring temps cause paraffin shrinks so try pouring slightly cooler. Good luck! Let me know if you need any more help if you come across a problem :) I am always happy to help
I use a needle...i use wick thats not waxed and pull it through a needle and instead of putting a hole in the mold i just force my needle and wick through. It never gives me a hard time coming out....Just a tip :) then you dont need the tack...Then i use a wick holder that looks like a hair clip😂 i center it so it cant move and i pour.
Hi Jess! I was so excited to discover your video about how to make skull candles using skull candles! I am looking specifically for the video you mentioned about how to unmould these skull candles. Please lead me to that video. I'd be so very grateful! Thank you for your amazing content! ❤❤
HI Witchy Mystic Divine!!! Thank you for bringing to my attention that I mentioned that (and forgot)! I will make some skull candles right now and make a video specifically how to unmould them. Until then ... I have this unmoulding video that you can watch - but you do not need to cut your skull candle moulds, like I mention in this video ruclips.net/video/2kYqUeMiKa4/видео.html Here is another unmoulding video ruclips.net/video/dVisGd1ldKQ/видео.html If there is anything else that I can help you with please let me know
Omg! Thank you so much Jess for helping me with this. It was hard to do it without cutting the back but I kept working at it and did it! 😂 I wish I could send you a vid of how I struggled. You'd laugh so hard! 😅 Thanks again!!❤
HAHA!!! :D :D I think the newer the mould the harder it is to unmould it at first! I will still make the video of unmoulding the skull candles, just so you can see. I just need to wait for a day my little daughter is at school so I can film without her singing in the background or yelling at me :D
@@WitchyMysticDivine I finally got it made, I am not sure if you saw it yet so here is the link. I hope it helps :D ruclips.net/video/yHp3_gA3GsA/видео.html
@@luminarygoddess8642 I wonder what they were made out of because silicone isn't supposed to melt until 400°c and I doesn't melt it just kind of combusts. Wierd
Yes you should be able to - silicone is kind of sticky so it isn't like there is a big gaping hole there. Just put some blue sticky tack on the hole to just make sure. Let me know if you try it how it goes for you. I'd love to know if it worked :D
@@Candle_Making_With_Jes VERY hot. The wax I'm using changes colour quickly so if I'm not quick it gets a weird layer of colour on the bottom. So maybe blue tack will work on those! Edit: I used blue tack to balance the wick when I do multicoloured layers. Yk those that you lean the glass on one side
@@yeemint4568 yes it would be because of the glass staying hot. The silicone moulds don't really get hot so the bluetack works for them. What do you use for the glass moulds?

What a great informative video 👏🏻👏🏻 u got a subscriber
Awesome, thank you! So glad the video was helpful to you!
Such a useful video!!! Can I ask what type of wax you used for these?
Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful to you :)
I use pillar palm wax
I don’t recommend a heat gun some molds will not handle it, but the freezer for 5-10 minutes will work wonders and be cleaner, but great tips
You are right some moulds really do not do well with heat. The freezer does work well especially for acrylic moulds :)
@@Candle_Making_With_Jes I know from experience lol
@@luminarygoddess8642 🤣 how many moulds did you ruin?
@@Candle_Making_With_Jes 2 but I managed to salvage the good one and trimmed off the blob 😂

If you make a hole for the wick can you still use the mold for plaster? Is there a way to close the hole temperary?

Thanks for sharing! What type of wax did you use? Cus it looks crystalise
Yes it's crystal palm wax :)
You can pour a small amount of wax down and use that instead of the sticky tack stuff
Thanks for the tip! That would be kinda messy though don't you think? I don't like mess very much :)
Thank you so much for sharing your skill
My pleasure 😊
Where did you get your wax from?
I get my wax from aussie candle supplies :)
Great video, thank you!
You are welcome! Happy making! Let me know if you need any help :)
Ahhhhh thank you! I get it now ❤
Awesome! Best of luck to you! Have fun :)
What would i do if I don't have sticky tack? Can I just use tape?
You can try it but if it doesn't work get some blue tackle, it's pretty cheap
Wait do you cut the metal part off?
Yes I cut the metal part off the wick. It is not needed for pillar candles. :) Let me know if you have any other questions
Did you use cotton wicks?
Yes ACS wicks are made of cotton with a wax coating
Can i use toy clay
Go ahead and try it. Clay would work, just not sir dry clay 😆😅
What is that sticky stuff called?
Blue tack 😁
@@Candle_Making_With_Jes thank you
