- Spending the night in a backcountry cabin. Steak and Whiskey! Yes this is a public use cabin. Pack it in, pack it out. Leave it better than you find it.
/ forestyforest
I should have explained in the video, this cabin is open to the public. There are many cabins like this scattered across Canada and USA. Pack it in, pack it out. Leave it better than you found it.
Just busting your chops. Just goes to show I don't know crap about camping. If only there were someone posting videos on the InKerNetz that showed people what it's like to.....
"Hey... wait a second..." 😉
I was wondering why you weren't nervous someone was coming back and be furious you were in his/her cabin. Do you have drones filming above you, and long range shots?
Ok, that makes more sense ahah. Not everyone knows that custom exists 😂oh, and i dont know if i could use that frying pan again knowing what went inside it😫
How do you find a cabin like this?? Do you reserve it?? Or first come only? Thanks
We have them in the UK there called bothys . Great Vid bro
This video is so Canadian I’m crying maple syrup
I know, right? Oot, aboot, Celsius, kilometers.... it has it all!
I just coughed up a penny with a Maple Leaf on it!!
@@PatrickWagz Collectors item now, btw.
(5¢ ≈ the new penny)
Yukkky, canadian, thats a bad omen!!!!! Canada sucks!!!! Bigtime!!!!
@@seipjere so their pennies are worth a nickel?? So then we could save them all up and go exchange them. Oh wait, that won't work will it. Unless you buy something there
I loved the lack of music in this one. Hearing the sounds of the places you go puts us one step closer to being there. Thank you, and happy new year to you, too!
This made me miss the pure silence of the deep woods
Very true! Unless it’s more Nintendo music, which I love, I’ll take the ambience
A cabin by the river, steak, wiskey.....is this heaven.
You forgot something else, haven't you?
@@bx70 cocaine?
@@ElBach1y Nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! Two women to keep you company.
Agree brother
Man I just wanna go somewhere isolated area with full of snow, turn off my notifications off and stay there until I'm ready for this chaos again
I'll join u...lol
Your drone footages are definitely a plus. I like it a lot. I really feel immersed in your adventure.
i was just thinking the same
I was wondering how he gets the super far away shots, then I remembered he has the drone
the camera angles are amazing and i appreciate his extra effort to always going back to grab his camera after the shot is done
Is he really doing this or is it fake? I’m leaning fake like most life’ eh
@@user-em8yy1dl7s In which way could this be fake? Only if somebody else would always be with him, and there really is no hint of another person. It's not that uncommon to do that all by yourself. I have also done vlogs for some years and kept doing just the same, always positioning the camera, do your thing in the shot and get back to grab the camera. That's how it runs.
Great video for the new year. Being as I am 60 yrs old and disabled, I could never do a trip like this so I truly thank you for letting me come with you through your videos. And the drone work is huge!
Aren't you the guy who won his Yellowknife prize pack?....lol
You have to be one of the coolest people that exist...
Never seen anyone do more with less.
I'd like to think that if Henry David Thoreau were alive today he'd have subscribed to your channel.
Nothing but good things to say about your adventure and nothing but good things to say about your videography.
So nice that you take the time to make shots of yourself on the way: ride a bit, put the camera on the way, go back and ride again to give us a glimpse of what it is.
Respect to him for still setting up his cameras for sick shots and coming back to them with little day light
Crossing the freezing wooded bridge in the dark and still setting up the shot. I thought the same.
Should have brought the fox back to the van to catch the mouse.
Clearly you’ve never seen rat turds before. Cheers though.
Then he'd need a bobcat to get rid of the fox...and so on and so on. lol.
The mouse or rat dropping is not something you need to be inhaling can lead to more serious conditions.
No lived outside, mom was a nurse and we had the knowledge.
@James Merryman
Thank you, for being more articulate on the matter.
I'm almost more impressed that you take your mommy-mobile out that far into the backcountry than anything else. Love how your content has been recently.
The camera work that he does is amazing. It's probably incredibly time consuming but that's why his content is so good. Nice work Foresty!
Tremendous high-quality filming and editing - especially so considering the harsh weather conditions and doing it all on your own. Very well done.
Now in this video you parked your van literally 3 minutes from my house and went up to the trapper's cabin! Happy adventuring
Is it still 3 minutes with all the snow though?
I like the cooking part of the videos, always become hungry after them.
Me too
Really? That steak almost made me heave
Who cooks the meat for a stir fry then chops it.....
I love how he packed his meat thermometer! 😆
😄😄😄
This guy is of a other caliber .
The last thing you want on a trail is bubble guts from undercooked meats, before this I hadn’t considered taking a meat probe camping with me now it’ll get packed every time
@@daddyr0undr0und33 LOL BUBBLE GUTS I'm definitely using that one.
Can't over cook that steak
This was the first video I saw. It's a special one for me.
It has everything from adventures, good food, wild life, mouse poop, bike accident and so much snow!
Good times!
Now, I'm hooked. I'll be watching your channel, why...because of the beautiful scenery or the tasty way you cook food, nope because you shared your steak with "your friend" the fox.
you should watch also living the van life with chad it a cool guys too
Nobody does it like Foresty. Also so polite. Thanks all patrons at end of every video. That was a beautiful fox.
I'm still amaze that his chevy uplander takes him everywhere. This would be a good chevy commercial.
Chevs are crap
@@kelownarealman Chevrolet isnt as good as Ford . Being high tech , Ford comes with heated tailgate so your hands will not freeze when you push it home .

@@BurbSK-bi2wh 😂😂😂
I typically like short videos but out of all the people I’m subscribed too I wish your videos never end watching you browse the wilderness is mesmerizing. Cheers from Florida
Why is everyone being so weird in the comments? It's a hiking cabin, open to anyone who wants to stay in it, if it isn't already occupied. It's maintained by the park service, who cuts and keeps wood there for anyone who wants to use it. It's like two year olds writing these comments, ffs
I believe that those comments are mainly from Americans who have a different way of seeing things when it come to their private property. This is Canada and being that most of our country is forest land, it is not uncommon to see these shared shacks.
Hehe, yes it was a public cabin. There was a guest book to sign in. I wouldn't use a private cabin and those are usually locked. Pack it in, pack it out. Leave it better than you find it.
@@forestyforest @ 6'3" that is the only living space Ive seen yet I could fit into. Its a good thing you are of medium stature, or you would have to settle for a string of Hampton Inns.
Grumpy pants
Ain't that the truth. Ignorance is bad, but the arrogance to assume someone else is wrong when you don't know jack shit is worse.
I love staying overnight in cabins like this. For some reason, a simple life and close contact with nature makes me stronger.
Watching this while stuck at work in a big city. This is what I needed. Thx Captain Canada
When there's unsettling developments in the "real world" it's always good to feel the peace of Foresty Forest's adventures...
This is the most Canadian channel on RUclips. Love it
“There’s mouse poop in my pan!”
*continues as if nothing is wrong*
Chris Sanders I said the same I would totally throw that pan out 🤦🏾♂️
He held it in his hand...There ain't no throwing out your hands. lol
Yeah gross
Lol, you can't live an adventurous life like this man does if you're afraid of some tiny mouse turds
My childhood friend's house had nothing but mouse turds in his cabinet
One of the best winter vids. Unbelievable you are able to ride in deep snow. Thank you for giving back to nature. Thanks for sharing you adventures 😊
I love your videos! They are so calming and so peaceful that make me happy!
Normally on mountains and hiking trails in really cold places like this, cabins are for anyone for refuge. And it's an unwritten rule to leave behind matches for the next person. (Could save someone's life)
P.S your camera work always impresses me, must take long setting up long shots or be tricky using a selfie stick whilst peddling through thick snow.
These cabins are a life saver! I've only ever needed to use one in an emergency once. Though it wasn't a full on emergency, we saw what was coming and prepared for the worst. It was the coziest night of my life. The sound of that killer blizzard outside made me sleep like a baby.
@@ericchandler90 I live in the uk, I probably shouldn't even know anything about cabins because it never snows here! (The news says it would and there's a few specks) glad you got out safe from the bad weather with a cabin!
I loved the fox and how you fed him
Somewhere else on RUclips “Someone BROKE in and SLEPT in my cabin overnight???”
and fed my pet fox!!!
HAHAH
Ha!
Is says in the description that it is a public use cabin.
I thought the same thing.... I would never sleep in there knowing someone else had just been there...
I find it so cool that you transformed a simple Chevy Uplander into a freaking home on wheels that trudges through the snow like nobody’s business! Keep up the great work! 👍
This is probably my favorite video that you uploaded. I love seeing the snow, cabin and the fox!
Your a natural, I hope you get a million subscribed, it would be great.
Cheers and happy New year
#AGREED #TRUTH
Boa boy.... I agree, he really deserve me subs and views.
A true Canadian woodsman, chopping his own firewood. Your forest friend was a cutie!
I have lived in 16th Bayview area Richmond Hill Ontario for 7 years but had never seen anyone " Canadian " chop any woods, in fact, some of them won't even bother to shovel snow for their driveway! I am not talking about new immigrants but people of 4 or 5 generations here!
He didn’t chop his own wood. He took the neatly stacked rounds that another person either felled and broke down or purchased and had hauled up there and he split 2 or 3 on camera while very happy with himself. NOT quite a “true woodsman.” Did you catch the digital meat thermometer?
Great footage from the drone... I can’t believe it’s 1 guy in a van putting these videos together. Good work. That steak looked epic!
I highly doubt it's just one guy in a van. But no matter--he's fun to watch.
Sick windows 95. Avatar
Man this was PEAK FF. I don't mind his new build but there was something about the UFO build that was very very special. Plus, he always had the Canadian accent turned all the way up back then.
I commend you for really taking the time to get the shots you want. Great job and your channel is growing quick!
Bless your heart for sharing with that fox. 🦊 ❤️ It made my day! Really beautiful video by the way. Thanks for creating and sharing.
Absolutely beautiful! I really like this short overnighter as much as your epic long trips. Thanks for sharing!
The amount of people who don’t know about shared hiker cabins...Great video as usual!!
Dude! you’re living my dream! I wish I could live a life like you!
What an absolute stunning landscape, what a treat it must be to actually be there, nice vid!! 👌🏼
No music was a great change, drone footages are amazing, keep up the good work!
Actually I prefer the music! Foresty has good taste in soundtracks...never intrusive, they capture the mood of being alone without being lonely. What concerns me is that rodent freeloader...now that you need to get rid of!
@@tonyr7000 maybe why🌲 left out🎵🎶 in this video?
@@RenayEmond lol good point!
I like the middle eastern type music he uses when making coffee :)
My takeaway after watching his last few videos? Foresty Forest = Low Key Badass. And next adventure? Finding that frying pan pooping mouse!
The drone shots while riding over the bridge are on point!! You get better at editing every single video. Happy New Year
Wow! I'd be scared by myself lol looks great though. Wish I could stay there but I'd make the cabin a bit more homely and cosy and comfy 😊😊🙂
You’ve got the strength and stamina of an Olympian.
Happy New Year! Loved seeing the fox, it was nice your shared your dinner with him.
Some day humans will be asteroid hopping and planet hopping in tiny space shuttles. This man will be remembered.
I think it's only appropriate that the fox is named in the same manner as this channel. So I propose; Foxy Fox.
Don't forget Mousey Mouse.
🤣🤣🤣 nice
I've been watching you for about a year and I realy enjoy your cooking. Your life is full of adventure and memories, experience. I wish you the very best and pray you are always safe and successful. You are richer than you know and I have total admiration for your lifestyle.
Three videos in and I’m addicted to your channel! You really put a lot of effort into telling your story. Well done man the production is great. 👏👍
With my luck the cabin would have been occupied and I would have to make it back to the van in the dark carrying raw meat.
well, even if the cabin was occupied, no one should make you leave at night. There is plenty of room in the cabin for everyone and everyone is welcome here.
Lol
@@pogodanaprzygode Especially when you bring steak and potatoes.

glad to see you're still alive
What an insulting comment. Are you expecting him to die?? Man has more brains that you. I'm sure he will out live you.
@Jacku would die if his Anime show got cancelled
I think it's cool that the dude explores without some crazy over done 4x4 pickup truck! But I can't say I'd be out in the wilderness in a Chevy! You're a brave soul my friend.
Wow!! Water from a creek to cook with, mice turds on his pan!! I am impressed. This guy isn’t afraid of anything!!!
I've been watching this video for the last 1 week. incredibly peaceful
This has to be one of the best video I have ever seen.
the drone is a big addition to your videos now, love those aerial shots.
The effort this man goes through for these camera angles is madness. His work ethic is insane
yes he is a hard case
Great! I sent this to my son ... BackPacker Biker Hiker ..
His comment was ... This guy has to be the most likable person on the planet! Hell, I’ve never received anything close to that (about me) from him.
Gorgeous scenery, and you've captured it. Thanks for sharing your adventures with all of us.
One of my New Years resolution is to watch this channel more....Subscribed!!!
Watching from England , awesome videos stunning scenery and I love the van , living life to the full . Not a bad cook either . Cheers thanks
I don't like snow but that is some of the prettiest countryside I have ever seen!!
You and your follow Canadian Lohan are truly hardcore outdoors people! Your trip on the CDT in winter to his Arctic trip.... fantastic! I salute YOU! Long Live Canada
The quiet really adds to these videos.
Great job
5:17 Love the sound of the creek... I miss camping in North
America. Now I'm completely broke and will be till I'm dead so would never
be able to experience it again but simply listening to the sound made me
so very relaxed and fond of the reality I'm in now. Cheers mate.
how are you now?
Wow, I love the drone footage! Amazing scenery! Seeing that beautiful fox coming for a visit was sooo cool.
Happy New Year to you!!
Cabin in the mountains. Love it! “I’d build for my Jennie, a honeymoon home, below that old white mountain, just a little southeast of Nome.” (Johnny Horton)
Wow, loved watching this. It's so great that places like that can exist without being robbed or vandalized. I suppose the people who visit it appreciate its value to people travelling in the wilderness.
Absolutely gorgeous! Wow, the silence in the snow has a totally different quality:) So glad to get to go along for the overnight and the adventure.
I like this I'm old lady who can't do this anymore. I wish I could afford steak. You lucky dog! Something my husband used to tell people all the time.
Matt Foley....living in a van down by the river.
Tom Foley SNL sketch. Look up van down by the river on RUclips
I could explain it. BUT THEN YOU MAY END UP LIVING DOWN BY THE RIVER!!
You start fires the exact same way my dad did! That was awesome to see 💪🏼
Man, I do admire you and enjoy your videos. You're living a life of freedom that very few will ever experience. I'm too old, and I'll never know what it's like, but keep the videos coming.
Hi Foresty. I do enjoy van life videos and so RUclips recommended me your vids.
I’m so glad they did. I’m a Canadian girl living in Scotland now and hearing your accent, the sound of the snow crunching under foot and the shots of the trees covered in snow, make me feel so happy! Beautiful! Stay safe and warm pal ☺️
Thank you, glad to share the splendor of the Canadian Rockies! I've heard Scotland is beautiful too. 👍
Foresty Forest yes Scotland sure is as beautiful as it gets! Although doesn’t stop me missing home occasionally.
You should try and get over here! Climate is perfect for van life 🏴
The calories this man burns in a day...eat whatever he wants
Nice "raw" footage of what outdoor life is like very close to the real thing no chick butts no van life stupid things just plain real, keep it up man !
My favourite video since the Western Renegade! These are the exact type of adventures I would like to do in 2020. Great stuff!
Oh the places you and your minivan go! Thanks for living a good life. Peace
Really cool of you to share some steak with the coyote, that may have been the difference between a painful empty stomach and just being comfortable .....respect man. Respect. Good for you. Very cool video.
