Dude I love that you're pumping out so much camaro content!! Gives me inspiration for my camaro!
Great video. Thanks for walking through the horn installation. Really helped me out a lot.
The guy is on 🔥 😎👍🏋️♂️💪
Thanks for the vido dude!
Very good video.👍 I've been looking at Grant wheels too but I can't find any without holes in the spokes, which I don't like that much.
3196 adapter
Good looking wheel. Don't like the bulky look of those later stock wheels with airbags. The "one" thing on my 83 I don't have to work on. LOL
Love the videos, just picked up my first 3rd gen (‘91 convertible) that I’m trying to fix up before graduation.
If you don’t mind me putting in a request, in the future can you link parts in the description?
cool
JUST A UPDATE TO THE INFO..1990 TO 92 CAMAROS.w/air bags..the shaft caps (the black cover he cuts down) they come in diff sizes.. get one close to what ya need .. they are marked.. if you order a kit for your 3rd gen.90/92 your 99% of the time you will get the cover marked with #27(they do not make a kit for the 90/92 (airbag) this will be to deep.. Kit 3294 ($18) will come with 3 covers.. it has a cover in it marked #11 this cover is not as deep (over 1/8 less ) then a #27... this will save you the cutting grinding.. if ya need more on your 3rd gen just place a washers (3)1 on ea bolt. under the cap..works 100%. the # 11 and #27 caps are 4" in diameter.. ya can even get them in 4 1/2 Dim.and just slide over the steering Column so there is no Gap.. this is just a heads up.. Call Grant steering wheels. and ask.. my Camaro is a 1992 Z28..
This is a bit off the subject of the steering wheel but might you know where I can locate the horn contact switches? Looked everywhere but no one sells them. I may have to replace the steering wheel just because of that. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Can you reccomend a hub adapter
at 5:03 is that a "Grant Steering Wheel Spacers 4001"?
GRANT 3196 Adapter
GRANT 697 Wheel
5 bolt Forever Sharp Horn Button
Nice job on the wheel. Like the look. Did you get an airbag light after replacing the wheel?
Can't have an Airbag light when you remove the light bulb in the dash for it! :)
Thanks for this, 3GG! I'm wondering if there are spacers available to increase the 'height' of the wheel to my preference, if necessary. Anybody? Thanks in advance.
you'd need a different wheel to really adjust the height. spacers might get you 1/2inch but that's not much.
this grant wheel is 1in closer to the driver than stock.
What are you using for wire crimping tools? Those look a lot better than the ones I've had in my box for years.
high end,expensive,dedicated wire crimping tools
Did the grant wheel not come with a horn button? Or did you just like the other one better?
the grant horn button is trash and doesn't really even work. hence the MUCH nicer aftermarket one.
I’m worried my infl. Rest. Light will be on 24/7 if I swap wheels. How do I take the build out of the dash for it?
can't turn on if there's no bulb lol
I talked to the tech service guy at grant he said air bag Columbs strip the splines out of the grant install kit hub have you had any issues? did the splines feel tight or a little loose?
my kit was fairly tight spine wise.
I had to Pull it off to do repairs and actually broke the adaptor long before the shaft even came off.
I would agree that the adaptor isn't the strongest.
But I did 3 Autocross seasons on it and that's a lot of wheel turning very rapidly.
I think it's a "your experience may vary" thing.
What installation kit did you go with? Grant is recommending the telescoping kit but it's a bit pricey
Jk found your comment
Si queda bien lomala es que no tiene bolsa de aire para su defensa prefiero mejor el timos biejo que tiene bolsa de aire
So you bought the grant adapter and also the adapter from 3 hole to 6 hole?
ya, both part numbers are in the video
How I can bypass the airbag on my 1991 firebird 5.0
un-plug the large yellow wire under the dash and pull the bulb in the gauge cluster where the "INFL REST" warning light would be.
Does the steering wheel come with the plate adapter ?
no, the grant adapter is separate.
Why do you need PPE to remove the airbag?
because an old airbag is a Giant grenade 1ft away from your face. Although my bag was a dud. i tried to detonate it with a battery.
So, let's say that we're doing this and forgot to mark TDC on the wheel, is there a trick to finding it after the fact? Particularly with the column out of the car? Or am I an idiot and am going to have to dink with it for days lol. This is the first column work I've ever done and I have made some rookie mistakes lol.
you can install the old wheel and center it that way
or eye ball the front tires to see how straight they are.
@@3rdGenGuy thanks Hun, my wheels are straight so that should help lol. If it's a bit off will an alignment help?
@@ariyanadumon4549 no,putting the steering wheel on properly when the front wheels are straight isn't hard dear.if it is you may want to stop doing things to your car now
Actually, GM marks their steering wheels and columns at the factory. Look for small indexing line on the shaft. It looks like someone hit it with a small chisel. If you look closely, you can see it at the 12 o'clock position in this video @4:19
I just cut that airbag wire and left it. Is that why my airbag light is on?
yep.
remove the airbag bulb from the dash and that's it.
What’s the link on this wheel and adapter
6:13 has the part # for the wheel
2:48 for the adapter
How much do you want for that steering wheel
you can just buy it off amazon ha ha
what double din unit is that
1le radio delete panel.
What's the thread pitch for the bolts?
it'd been way too long.
I just don't remember.
@@3rdGenGuy Fair enough buddy. I've somehow managed to wedge mine on good, on my 85 lol.
Would this work on a 94
yes, but the adapter and setup is gonna be a bit different than a 4th gen Camaro. I'd check the 92-02 camaro pages and see what adapters hey are using.
what is the steering wheel name i want to buy 1
part # at 6:13
Dude, I love your detailed videos but, they are missing one very very important part.... that’s part numbers and tool names and sizes and where to purchase... If that’s to much at least respond to the comments when asked. Please! I committed asking where to purchase the reamer drill bit you used but got no response...
the part numbers are in the video.
reamers can be purchased on eBay or amazon.
i don't include socket sizes ex ex because some cars have different sizes and it confused people.
NO! I NEED TO KEEP THE AIRBAG!
