Thank you for this. I have a boss who are very selective person and practice favoritism. i worked hard for every project but i never get the recognition that i deserved. but when i submit my resignation letter the management are panicking. now my new boss are happy. he and the management team at my new place always supportive and reward me for every project that i have done. Now i heard my old team is a mess and how my old boss missed all the previous staff.
This happened to me big time today, and yes it really sucks. Thank you for validating my feelings on it. It shouldn't take away my current value and skills, but it sure as hell feels like it has. Now, when to pick myself up from the floor?
Forget making space for emotion. I got so mad when a colleague with a lot less responsibility was promoted around me for a big payrise that it made me ill. I got a new job with a lot more money, more senior title and actually less pressure and responsibility than my previous job. I took great pleasure in throwing my notice in and my old boss suddenly changed his tune and began realising my worth. I bumped into him about five years later and he admitted I was right to leave.
Rejection is a divine protection in disguise. If you can't move up, you may have to move out, and move on.
Wise words
After 7 years and 2 promo rejections, 100% time to move on. They don't value my skillset. Time to find someone who does.
