Yes, it would be cool to make docks! They could revamp the fishing huts and give them little fishing boats to go out on the water. In the future they could have an ocean seed that you can roll and have trading ships go to your dock!
Dang is this a pretty city. Lol I didn’t know I would make a comment like this 2 weeks ago when I never knew about this game. Now I’m like…dang this layout is so elegant. So much cool detail and thought.
1 lookout tower (1guard) + 2 hunters = 800 meat per year + all the other resources from the wolves. Great early game meat/leather farm. Your hunters will be butchering the whole time only popping out to collect corpse
@@apolitza I have 3 barns. I get about 1500 meat a year. I want my hunters trapping and only trapping for hides. Wolves are annoying when attacking my gold miners.
the barn actually slaughters the new cows in the first few months of the new year. you can watch your meat supply appear out of no where. I set my herd size to 13 and it works just fine.
Found one way to cheese a bit but its boring as heck, much safer though. You just stay in tier one and build up farms without actually using them, just clover and work until you have 10 good fields, lots of wood and planks. I had about 90 peeps for about 10 seasons, all doing the same season in and out. In the 10th season I was primed and ready to go. I think people eat a lot less in tier 1.
Built a huge tier 1 city with housing for 200 people, got raided after around 150 residents. Also first run with heavy/undesirable buildings right next to crops and getting way more diseased crops, not sure if that’s bad luck or related to those structures
Raptor, any good tips for best storing food to avoid too much spoilage? Will you make a guide for that maybe? Thank you, been watching all videos so far!! Game is amazing
Some of the small lakes are at great depth. It would make the game more immersive if the rain and snow filled them out during the seaon's changes and then the sun dries them up during summer
I duno what happened, but one of those low lakes became a death trap on my map. For some reason some people were going down there, but they could,'t get back up. People started dying, and dropped items. So then more people went down there to try and pick up the items and bodies, they got stuck too and died. It was the biggest setback I had on my map so far. People stuck there had professions, but still showed as working even though they were stuck there. Bodies started piling up. Luckily I had the idea to flatten some ground around it, and it worked. 20-30 people had died by then.
@@grannystuna174 Lakes overflowing from snowmelt in spring and declining over summer was a constant thing before the 19th century when most lakes got regulated. Considering how realistic this game is with nature in other aspects. I think this is a good idea.
I have never yet considered going back to a previous map and trying again; the key thing that would put me off is the ridiculous lack of wall prioritisation in the game; a point I have flogged to death on the forums. It's THE most annoying thing to do in the game to have to laboriously click on every tiny segment one by one to build walls or fences; otherwise without them being marked priority they almost never get built. How they missed this absolutely vital essential feature off the first (albeit early) release is a mystery to me.. Once they correct this, I may try another map. Right now I'm in an advanced lowland lakes build which has reached 1000 pop in medium hard mode. In fact I'm now using a mod from nexus which extends the pop cap beyond 1000 and I'm around 1200 pop without any additional loss of performance. That said, the late game is pretty laggy anyways.
Awesome city so far. Whats the map seed number, so we can follow along at home. Also have you worked out what the supply chains are? I haven't watched all vids yet so if you've covered this please let me know which episode to watch.
What I need to know is, how are you making so much money? I have a city that’s more or less as developed as the first one you showed, but I can barely afford 5 towers, barracks and a hospital, leaving me with close to 0 gold income.
Anyone have a solution to the resource harvesting bug? I can only get my cities up to about 20 or so years and the villagers just stop collecting anything.
Is there a downside to keeping your settlement small for years as you figure things out? Are there a bunch more raids, eventually issues that arise from staying a small population settlement?
It may appear that raids are related to your tier, so if you upgrade faster, the raids will get bigger as well. So, it seems there is no disadvantage to a larger population. But, it may be harder to care for them without better medicine etc.
Nope take your time, no need to rush if you don't think you can handle the immigration, but usually the needs are linear for the most parts. There comes points where you need to figure out some puzzles when you reach certain size because efficiency surprisingly drops as you increase in size (which is different than real world economics.)
I entered tier 2 at the start of year 6. My first raid of about 20 happened around year 7-8. Probably tied to tier 2. I think it's smarter to let your city grow organically. Better to turn away large groups of immigrants imo. Make sure you have all of your basic infrastructure and towers before heading into tier 2. And then make walls immediately, since you should have plenty of built up resources. If you have walls, you can easily beat down raiders with basic villagers.
Only raiders are there, no other countries attack? If it would have been similar to AOE concept where AI players build big towns and have big countries and map is big like a world map, is there any single player game like this
This game has SO MUCH potential I really hope they update it the same way a game like ICARUS gets constant updates.
Really want to be able to upgrade fishing huts so that they have little piers and go out on boats to fish.
And rivers. And bridges. And volcanos! Really, they have a lot to add to an already really solid foundation.

And crocodiles!
I got 600 inhabitants, eating ungodly amounts of cheese.
I know its impossible but in my head thats all youre feeding them
Blessed are the cheese makers
@@kylemackinnon6230 Well, as the cow population exploded and birthed about 15/20 weekly, they started eating more beef.
Ooooh geez, my mother in law x 600, not a pretty sight. Anyway, I cheese my way through as well.
😂

GLORY TO RAPTORIA
Tip for you. When you make barracks, you can send them out to clear wolf dens. Once they’re cleared, they stop coming.

@@McKannon this is a pre-barn farm. Easy to get this done super early and allow you to not worry about food for a long while

Put two spaces between fields to reduce disease spread.
I love this game. 1 thing that bugs me though is it doesn't let you build bridges.
I wish there was a mod for cities skylines where foreign invaders could attack your city. It would add so much to the game.

Build barrels, upgrade root cellars, pickle vegetables and fruit. Make cheese.

You can send it off to be killed by wolf dens, but you will lose all starting materials in there.

Make multiple markets in spread amount a bit make candles and cheese to sell
Hes mining gold ingots
markets pubs luxury items produces more taxes but mostly just smelting gold ores

just get to tier 3 asap, best way to avoid this
just play anno 1800
