Awesome video today Neil !! I have seen every video you've ever made and now I love how you have amassed a library of links as you say i'm going to link up here , I think , OH YAH , THAT'S THE FOIL VIDEO !!! You've taught me so much !!! Beautiful as ALWAYS !!! Good job !! Also awesome how you tell us the flash settings etc and why you use that .
It's amazing how your results always look like you had a complicated setup, then (here comes the curveball)--bam--you whip out the $5 drugstore Christmas lights. You (& your team) (& the always beautiful models) never cease to amaze me! Your creativity is endless. May it never run out. Loved the outtakes at the end!
Thank you so much as always Richard! Yes, nothing is ever complicated, I don't think I would be able to do it if it was! Haha, I always enjoy trying to come up with new ideas :-) thank you so much again - I hope you are well
Once again you have batted it out the park. I so enjoy watching all of your tutorials. Your techniques are never complicated. You make it feel like anyone can do it. I have been a huge fan since you began and i look forward to more amazing videos from you. Thank you.
Great work as always. I had a shoot yesterday with a young couple and I used the techniques I learned from you. They turned out great. Wish I could show you some. Thanks for your work.
Thank you very much Marcus, my pleasure! I am so pleased that you have been trying out things on your own shoots, that is awesome! Really pleased you are happy with them :-)
I didn't understand the focusing part of the shoot. Did you focus on the model outside of the lights and then bring that focus back through the lights?
Hi Linton, yes exactly that, because the camera was struggling to focus through the lights. This is risky at such a wide aperture because the depth of field is so small so I had to be careful to keep the camera at the same distance away from Demi as I moved it. To do this back button focus massively helps. My other option would be to use manual focus
Thank you very much Lawrence! I bought the Gorillapod years ago so I don't actually know to be honest - you can probably use any for this purpose though. I'd guess at mine being about 30 cms high?
Hi Neil, always fantastic content. That studio in Bolton looks a great setup, so much space. Over in southport myself! Have you fallen out with the Samyang 35/1.4?
Thank you very much Graham! Aah, nice and local, the last wedding I photographed was in Southport :-) Yes, it's a really great space. No, I always enjoyed losing that lens ....but then I dropped it on concrete... they don't like that. So it still works but is not reliable enough to use at weddings because it is damaged. If I hadn't have dropped it though I wouldn't have bought the Sony 35mm
@@NeilRedfern what Venue, have you put any images on your website? How do you find the 35mm in comparisons, I have the Samyang 85 1.4 and love it. The latest updates make it just as quick as the sony 85 1.8, I owned both so personal opinion. In real world they are as sharp but you can't beat the 1.4. Ended up keeping the samyang. I have looked at the 35mm a couple of times, intresting to know your thoughts. As always, keep up the good work, always enjoy watching :-)
