    I use contact lens cases for absolutely everything and they're super handy as you can 'pair' items. For example, I have one in every coat pocket/handbag with hand cream in one side and lip balm in the other (one compartment holds an entire Carmex pot that's been melted in the microwave). I've also paired: toothpaste and cut up lengths of dental floss; lipstick (pulled from the tube and again melted in the microwave) and concealer/ foundation/ sunblock depending on the event and season; individual pain meds and antihistamines (trimmed neatly so they are still sealed and identifiable); earrings and necklaces; moisturiser and eye cream; cleanser and toner; shampoo and conditioner (it's enough for overnight). The possibilities are endless. I label each little container with the contents and Bob's your uncle. They last a surprisingly long time, too - the toothpaste pot lasts well over a week, used twice daily.
    For those of us on keto, they're also great for condiments. I pot up mustard and hot sauce/ salt and olive oil and carry them to perk up my 'car can' of tinned fish when I'm out and about.

      I love the way you think and yes, I do the same thing. I have my night cream on one side and my day cream on the other and then I have foundation on one side and primer on the other there’s just no end to what you can do with these little tiny Cases and honestly, honestly, I can get through a few days and up to a week and you can find a video of me showing you how I do that on my channel!😊💕 thank you so much for sharing your hack with us💕

    Fun video! I always enjoy your channel. I have an alternative for the Anywhere Floss. Granted, those little packets are convenient! But they're a little expensive for what you get. When I travel, I just take lengths of my own regular floss. If it's waxed floss, I wind it around my fingertip into a little ring, the wax holds it in that shape so the multiple strands don't get tangled, and I can put as many as I want into a tiny ziplock bag for my trip. If it isn't waxed floss, I can wind the pre-cut floss pieces around a paper straw (cut to whatever length I want) and put that into the tiny ziplock. I find this just as convenient, it saves a tiny amount of packaging, and saves a little money for a coffee at the airport. ;)

    • @TheoryofSimple
      @TheoryofSimple  7 месяцев назад +2

      That’s exactly what I do with my floss! It’s a little bit time-consuming, but I don’t have to carry a big plastic floss thing around and yes it is quite a bit less expensive! What I do about the floss is that for someone that just wants to put one piece of floss in their wallet because let’s say they’ve gone out to dinner and they need to just get you a bathroom and floss something that’s stuck in their tooth. It’s right there for you And it keeps it clean! 😊

    I've had the Stojo silicon cup for a couple years and I use it for everyday use more than travel. The important thing is that there is a hard plastic ring for the top, which the lid screws into. Make sure that you have the silicon cup in that top ring securely or it will leak and not be structurally sound.

    When I was a kid camping with family in the 1970s, we had these translucent white plastic reusable lidded tubes, that looked like a toothpaste tube but were made of a more rigid plastic. The plastic was textured so they were less slippery than say a regular toothpaste tube. The plastic was still squeezable/flexible but even empty, the tubes maintained their shape. You refilled them from the wide bottom, instead of through the small lidded tube opening. Then they had a little key like slider thing that you slid across the bottom to temporarily seal up the tube (kind of like the zippered ziploc bags). We put things like peanut butter and butter/margarine in them etc. My parents then washed them out after the trip for reuse on the next camping trip. If they still make them and you could get them in wee travel toothpaste sizes, that’d be great. They were easy to fill as that was one of the kid jobs for camping prep.

      @@TheoryofSimple - ok - found the larger tubes my family used for spreadable food decades ago are still being manufactured/sold. They are the inexpensive Coghlan’s brand that’s pretty easy to find in camping/sporting goods shops or online. They are just called “Coghlan’s Squeeze Tubes” and come in packs of 2 tubes/clips.
      I also found a travel size toothbrush & refillable toothpaste combo that looks way easier to refill than your airport find fail. The brand is Aurelle TOOB Travel Toothbrush. When I googled it, I found a video on a 3rd party travel review site showing the features and how to refill the toothpaste part and it looks super easy to refill as long as you have some hand dexterity. They showed that the key to refilling is to open both the top cap and the bottom cap. I live in Canada and found the Aurelle TOOB for sale online & in store at Mountain Equipment Coop (our version of REI) but I imagine it’s also for sale in the USA. Hope this helps!

    I love the tiny phone stand, the brass straw and brush kit, and the small thin refillable sanitizer spray. I have all of them in my AZN cart. I love the idea of toothpaste tablets, but I'm so picky about how it tastes that I don't think I could use them over my small tube of Crest Brilliance Vibrant peppermint. I'm leery of these odd brands of things like that I guess. I usually try to pack a travel size that is only about 1/2 full, it usually fits well and gets me through a trip. I make the sacrifice in the liquids bag for the space. I wish Crest made toothpaste tablets, that would be something I'd try for sure. :D

      I am so glad you are getting some great hacks from this video and truly appreciate you shopping from my Amazon storefront. 😊💕 I can completely understand about the toothpaste tabs, and they do have their negatives as well, which is they start to crush up and become a powder but you can always wet your toothbrush and stick it in there. However, I will tell you I have use these tabs and I do like them, but it did take me a while to get used to using them when I was so used to paste. I did see a hack once where people said you could put toothpaste on food, dehydrator sheets, and dehydrate them so you might want to give that a try but obviously if you don’t have a problem, caring any liquids I would just take that little half used travel size toothpaste tube, and don’t even worry about it.💕😊

    Last year I bought a set of containers for carry-on liquids in my local pharmacy as I needed some travel-sized bottles for shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, etc. In the set were three small cylinders which I decided to use for toothpaste. I filled all three and headed off for two weeks, wondering if I'd have enough paste or have to buy a tube. To my surprise, there was more than enough in one little cylinder! Maybe you could use something like that instead of that cumbersome device.

    I liked the little phone stand. I'll need to check the link to see, but wondering if the metal part that your phone rests back upon could double as a knife/spatula? 😂 I know it's not sharp, but I'm thinking in a pinch, maybe it could be used to spread out butter or peanut butter or cut through a block of cheese? Don't come at me! Sometimes you use what ya got on hand! It would only work of course, if that metal part opens up wide enough, though. I like the idea of Turkish towels, but I can't stand that they all seem to tassels on them. They always fray a bit and strands come off and they drive me nuts!

    • @TheoryofSimple
      @TheoryofSimple  7 месяцев назад +1

      OK so after I read your comment I had to go back and check it out but yes, that little metal part that hold your phone is removable from the plastics so you could use it technically as a spreader or a little spatula! And by the way, I love how you think! Versatility is always the best option for everything! Regarding the fringe on those Turkish towels, I get exactly what you mean! Sometimes on the longer ones all nodded up closer to the top and cut them off but I also have an option of a towel that doesn’t have any of those fringes so if you want to visit me over on Instagram and send me a message I’ll send you a link to some other towels that I take with me when I’m traveling that don’t have any fringe😊

    Love your idea for the little bag.
    I ended up with a terrible UTI on vacation. And a holiday weekend. I had to make a trip to ER. My doctor told me to always carry AZO it is an OTC. Small little tablets. It helps with the pain and then will be able to just call the doctor for a script. The ER doctor gave the prescription strength to me before leaving the hospital.

    • @TheoryofSimple

      You know, I generally bring a couple of things that help me on a trip, but I’ve never got anything for a UTI. But after David having this last about and it was pretty bad, I definitely would bring some thing. It was really hard to watch him suffer🥺

    • @wendybalivet6543
      @wendybalivet6543 6 месяцев назад +2

      Just a warning - if you take AZO before you do a urine test, it can make the test be falsely positive, so if you plan to go to an urgent care or your doctor's office for a urinalysis, don't take Azo for a couple of days prior. I don't know much about the commercially available test strips, but if they are the same as we use in the office, I imagine the result would be the same. That said, many people do get relief from the AZO, so if you are not near medical care and you are prone to UTIs, not a bad thing to take with you. :)

    My mom came home with a pair of Gucci sun glasses she found on a park bench. She took it to that cities like town hall place to turn them in, and they said they didn’t have like a city lost and found. She was at the park with my nephew for hours and they just sat there so she assumed the people were also traveling like our family. So she put them in her purse, left her number just in case someone came looking and days later came home. She said “well I guess they’re mine now. Thank goodness they weren’t valuable!” And I just nodded. Fast forward a week later we were driving and she put them on, and I got a good look at them, yup what she thought were like a “shopping mall” generic pair of sunglasses were authentic Gucci. This was over a year ago she also never got a call 🤷🏻‍♀️

      I love this story. In a similar vein, my dad wore what was very clearly ladies’ readers with rhinestones on them in the last years of his life. He said he didn’t care if they looked ridiculous; they worked well. He told me when he lost his regular readers, the lady at the lost and found where he was living said he could take any pair of glasses from an unclaimed box.
      When he passed, I was going to donate them. Turns out, they were Versace. I ended up changing the prescription and keeping them. Now they give me a smile every time I put them on instead of being a reminder of a tough end of life situation. Turns out they fit me like a glove!

    The worst thing that I purchased was one of those flat water bottles. I should have known it would be a problem the first time that I filled it.
