  • We all want to have everything with us when we travel but the idea of trying to pack it all and lug a lot of luggage around is daunting.
    I have been to 21 countries and have stayed for over a month in some of the places. I realized that many times the things that I use to pack were either not used or we’re not useful.
    In this video I’m going to go over how I am able to pack everything I need in a carry-on for a stay that is over a month long.
    Some of this has to do with a packing protocol and some of this have to do with certain things that I packed it make my life a lot easier while I’m traveling.

    Very compact bag, well done. For a month away I do the Rule of 3 for my small carry on - 3 tops, bottoms, underwear, thermals, socks. 2 shoes - one on plane, other in bag. Small makeup bag, small electronics bag. Bulky items worn on plane. Over the shoulder bag contains iPad, phone, passport, TSA clear bag, spare undies, hairbrush. This has worked with my overseas trips for 2 decades. It’s great to see how others travel. 🧳

      Same here, but I add one more piece for a total of ten. I always add a vest of some kind for variety. I always so zippered hidden pockets in jackets and vest linings. It's an easy hack if you open the lining from the side seam, then sew a welt, attach pocket and zipper. If one doesn't sew, a tailor can easily add them for you. I literally wear my cash.

    I only use a travel carry on. One of my biggest fears is the airline losing my luggage. So I stopped checking luggage for that reason. I’ll even use with a super cute under the seat travel pro suit case. I’ve learned to reuse my clothes. I’m always looking for a tiny crossbody bag to use fits in the suitcase. I love the tips you share plus wear lots of clothes on plane. ❤

      We are cut from the same cloth! I wear a lot of clothes on the plane because I mix and match them with what’s in my carry-on luggage. And I don’t mind washing things as I go because it’s much easier to keep track of your pieces of clothing.🙏😊❤️ thank you so much for sharing that with us!!

    Another great one! So much to talk about but I'll keep it short. Rather than folding cutlery I just use the titanium utensils from Toaks, which fit really nicely with a titanium straw, and some break down chopsticks in a Light My Fire Merino wool utensil holder. It packs quite thin that way and slips in anywhere. For a light I have several BioLite sunlight solar powered lights. I always have one with me and they charge via USB. They work amazing, and for flashlights its hard to beat the tiny tiny Rovyvon Aurora.. I keep them all over and they are incredibly bright and they will clip to the brim of a ball cap as a nightlight - I use them daily. I am sure to adopt some of your other suggestions. Thanks for the great video... have a terrific weekend!

      @TheoryofSimple  2 года назад +1

      Brandon, we are definitely cut from the same stone! I always love your feedback and I hope others that watch my channel will read and get some great feedback from you! I have several lights that I bring during my camping and or traveling all the time and I don’t know if it’s just something with me wanting to have light all the time but I always have several different lights with me. All of them can be charged by USB and some by solar. This will give me a couple of options depending on what my itinerary is for my trip. What a thank you again for watching and commenting and as always I look forward to your comments and feedback!!🥰

    • @Brandon-0028
      @Brandon-0028 2 года назад +6

      @@TheoryofSimple Thanks so much Eunice, your words are very kind! Having multiple lights is so handy! There was an occasion where we had visitors with us and had a 40 minute hike down to this beach here in Oregon, and left a bit late as we unexpectedly stayed for the sunset. The darkness crept in fast. The trail was narrow and steep, and fortunately since we had visitors I packed an extra couple small flashlights in addition to my headlamp and Surefire. It's a good thing! Believe it or not on the way back up the hillside it seemed there was a large cat (I presumed by the sound-perhaps a couger) stalking us on the way back up the cliff side. We could hear hear it in the brush of the hillside for a good distance. A little creepy... but I am sure the flashing of 1000 lumens in its direction helped as we made it back safely. There is something to be said for high powered flashlights to disorient predators.

    • @TheoryofSimple
      @TheoryofSimple  2 года назад +2

      @@Brandon-0028 wow! That is crazy! I pack a headlamp with me on every trip because I always wanna make sure I have a light and have my hands free so again we are cut from the same cloth!!

    • @Brandon-0028
      @Brandon-0028 2 года назад

      @@TheoryofSimple No doubt Eunice I agree! I do pack a headlamp as well in my everyday bag. What I love about the Rovyvon Aurora's is that they just disappear in your pocket, and they are always easily accessible when you need them. Oddly enough I use mine several times a day, and max output is like 600 lumens when you need the power and it has a side UV light, which is great for hotel rooms (if you really want to know if its clean).

      Check out the ScottVest or Ex-Officio brand travel vests. I have both and love them. The ScottVest is good for cooler weather. The ExOfficio is lighter. Each have 11 pockets. Go up a size up to accommodate filling the pockets. You simply take off the vest,, put it in a bin at TSA and put it back on on the other side. Very simple! Most of time a day bag wasn't needed.. The first thing is, I don’t use compression cubes. Although I think compression cubes have their place, I use packing cubes that have a mesh front. This allows me too:
      1. See which clothes are in the cubes without having to open them
      2. Allow the clothes to be compressed on their own and move in directions inside the cube. With compression cubes your clothes are compressed but they don’t allow them to move at all and change shape.
      3. I also do not stack them with the same size on top of each other rather I try to make things fit like a puzzle piece within the suitcase and then fit all of my smaller things in the crevices and the sides.
      Technically, you could get more things in your suitcase without the use of cubes but things then do not stay as organized. I also keep my clothes in the packing cubes when they’re in the suitcase at my destinations unless they have to be hung up. For example m, all of my socks, underwear, bras, tank tops, T-shirts and shorts will stay in their packing cubes. This allows my suitcase to act as a mini wardrobe.

      Hi Samantha! I have one of those two and I sometimes carry it depending on what else I have in my personal bag what I love about it is I can also fold it and set it on a table so a lot of times in my longer travels I will bring it with me to keep a little fan by my bedside as well! @TheoryofSimple  4 месяца назад +1

      The best in this video is currently no longer being made. However, if you head over to my channel and click on the community tab, you will see a picture with me in a purple vest.. this is my newest favorite travel vest because it has some stretch, a variety of colors, and is about half the price of the vest in this video💕😊

      @TheoryofSimple  2 года назад

      Hi Kay, yes sometimes I travel for work. As a matter fact in my previous job that’s what I did all the time was travel overseas for work quite frequently. That’s where I honed my packing skills. Lots of trial and error and pain points that got me to change the way I pack!
