I saw the original Santana band more than once and the original Grateful Dead too-- the growth since then is , , , WOW!!!
This stands with the Dead on their best nights and the passionate intensity of early Santana.

They started this set with Not Fade Away, but you don't get that here... nor do you get that Bobby, Billy, and Mickey had just finished Billy and The Kids' set on the other Lockn stage, to Phil's right, with Not Fade Away, and as the drummers were backing off, and the crowd was chanting and clapping along to that, Phil's band picked up the beat and kept the song going. They had just "finished the Grateful Dead" with the Fare Thee Well concerts a few months earlier and said they'd never play on the same stage again - this is about as close as you could get. One of the best post-Jerry shows I ever saw.
I was there. That transition was dope.
arguably my favorite phil and Friends lineup on paper aside from the Warfield 99 run with Trey and Page. super bummed I didn't get to see this lineup. Sless, Santana and Warren with Molo and Baracco? wet dream
Great lineup, awesome musicians, there was great music all weekend, but byfar this was the performance! Phil was also great the night before with Cris Robinson, Derrick Trucks. Santana was absolutely great, and Warren was also.

Way better than the pro shot version. What do you use (cam & mics?) Nice job.
Thank's for your comments I use Sony HandyCams, top of the line CONSUMER grade, not Pro grade. They are much smaller cameras but with as good of specs as the Pro models. This video was likely shot with either my Sony HDR-SR12 HandyCam or my newer Sony FDR-AX33 HandyCam. The audio was from audience taper, Joe's Scheops mics.
