- We're in the midst of winter, and that dang groundhog is sure to predict at least six more weeks of winter; what better way to stay inside from the punishing weather and kill time than with some amazing board games! This week we take a look at ten games that we think define the spirit of hygge (defined as: a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)). Just looking at any of these games spread across the table fills one with a feeling of orange, glowing warmth, and invokes the vibes of hot soup, wooly, fuzzy socks, and a soft, comfy blanket. Maybe a sleepy kitten or two. Its a real middle finger to the snow storms outside. As always, thanks for joining us, and let us know in the comments your favorite card, dice, and board games that make you feel at peace!
For a fun drinking game, take a shot of your favorite cider every time we say 'Cozy'! You'll be feeling hygge in no time!

No, that table cloth would do my head in 😵💫
Nothing better than a mug of tea, roaring fireplace, and a relaxing game of Creature Comforts!
Great recommendations! One thing to add to Paperback, the co-op rules are really fun. My wife and I love to attempt to win the co-op scenario. You lay out some of the victory point cards in a pyramid with the most expensive one on top and the cheapest ones as the bottom row. Your goal is to be able to buy the top card in the pyramid but you can't buy a card if it has two cards from the row beneath it still touching it. After a player scores their hand they can choose to buy an exposed card from the pyramid or buy some letter cards to build out their deck. If you don't buy from the pyramid you must place a token on one of the exposed cards from it. If any one card gets 5 tokens on it, you lose. Buying a card with tokens on it discards those tokens.
So there's a "race against the clock" feel as you work together to build strong words and build out each of your own decks but there's limited turns you can take before an exposed card gets to 5 tokens and its game over. For example, the first row has 4 cards on it so you only get 16 turns before you MUST buy one, 4 tokens on each of the 4 cards so the next turn would make one of them 5 and trigger the fail state if you didn't buy one. As you buy cards from the pyramid it gets harder and harder and the quality of your deck build becomes more important as there's fewer cards to buy and they can get to 5 tokens more quickly.
Oh wow, I had no idea there were co-op rules...that sounds fun, we'll definitely have to give it a try. Thanks for the tip and for watching!
I love the theme of this video! Thanks.
Love your list! I realized that I have about half the games you mentioned and want to get most the games you mentioned that I don't currently have. I would add Patchwork, Quacks of Quidlinburg, Azul, and Sagrada.
Those are all excellent additions! I haven't played Sagrada and just looked it up and now I have to add it to my list of games to check out! Thank you for watching!
Nice picks! Kodama Duo looks like a really cute idea. Tokaido is the only game on the list I have, but it is a perfect choice for the category.
Thanks Nathan! You and the fam should really check out Honey Buzz as well. I know you're always looking for some interesting new mechanics out there. Building the honey comb makes for a nice twist on the old worker-placement concept. You might dig it.
Nice content! Good quality audio, good explanations and great B-roll. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for the kind words! We have a lot more content planned, so we hope you stay tuned!
Meadow would definitely be in my top ten
That one has been on my list for so long. I need to play it soon!
those were so cute games. So adorable
There are so many cute, cozy games with beautiful art. These are just a few of our favorites. Thank you for watching!
Just found you guys. Great video. Thank you so much for the b roll! It’s so helpful and just enjoyable to watch. Subscribed. looking forward to what comes next!

Great list, glad you enjoy Lanterns!
Lanterns is one of our favorites!
As a matter of fact, I do like grapes. Sold!!
yuh like grapes! lol, the look he got lolol
The time of year has returned to play Creature Comforts again!
Oooh, Konami! We have the multiplayer and the 3D versions... good cozy games! Tokaido (or Namiji) is good too, but 2 player seems even more cozy so hoping to find Tokaido Duo! Paprrback is a great one here too I'd! I'd also be inclined to include Everdell (haven't tried Creature Comforts) and Leaf.
Great list! I really like you guys' relaxed style. Happy to subscribe!
Thank you so much and thank you for subscribing, it means a lot!
Stardew Valley is incredible, never played the computer game but the board game is brilliant.
I love that the board game has the heart of the video game, but still stands on its own.
Loved the video! It showed up in my recommendations since I was looking for something new to play with my fam. One advice maybe, your microphone picks up all the sounds from the table, maybe it's wise to hang it up, or put something soft underneath it :)
Also thanks for the clips of how the game looks like out of the box, helps me figure out what to expect :D
Thank you for the kind words. We're definitely trying to find a solution for the audio, so that shouldn't be an issue in the future. We hope you keep watching!
Everdell is my top cozy choice, followed by Wingspan and Yak
Like the list and I can tell by the games on your shelves, you're my kind of gamers. I will say though, the audio is clear but listening on my headphones, I can really hear something knocking the mic. I don't know if it's when you move but it's quite distracting.
Apologies for the sound. We're working on a solution, so it shouldn't be a problem in the future. Thank you for watching!
Is there any seller that sells stardew valley to world/Turkey its out of stock everywhere...
Hello! That game can be tough to get for sure, the print runs are pretty small. We caught ours by watching the Twitter for the publisher, Concerned Ape. They post when more copies are coming. Also, you can find a few folks on board game geek.com who have more reasonable prices on their copies in the geek market. Good luck!
God, that tablecloth. Sorry, but no: take it off.
