    Even though I wasn’t catholic growing up, I grew up in the Lutheran church and went to a catholic high school. Funny story- I used to debate with the priests in religion class. - I seemed to know more about the catholic doctrines than the Catholics in the room. Anyway, they seriously didn’t know what to do with me. I had such a hard time with some of the dogma in both the catholic and Lutheran churches and by the time I was in my early 20’s I was done with organized religion. What has been done in the name of religion in the world is horrific. Now I just take what resonates with me and leave the rest- I’m spiritual just not religious. Thanks for starting this channel- your messages really resonate with me. Have a great day!!!

    Same. I grew up Catholic and went to Catholic high school. Funny, when I was around 16 I spent weeks one summer going to mass on my own. I would sit silently and pray for the truth, constantly asking God for the truth no matter what it was. A series of events followed that led me out of catholicism. I was introduced to people who opened my eyes up to a world of things I'd never seen before. "God" basically told me that catholicism isn't the way. I ended up challenging my high school priests and even got in trouble by the school for stirring the pot lol. I'm thankful I was able to escape the dogma at such a young age.

    I always had a feeling since childhood that I didn’t understand why I couldn’t speak to God directly and ask him for forgiveness of my transgressions. I didn’t understand why a priest had to do it for me. So I stopped going to confession about 30 years ago and I found that speaking to God directly kept me in a loving path. THANK YOU for your honesty and please don’t stop doing what you do 🙏❤️

    I used to go to Catechism with a friend but it was clearly known I was the "poor friend", and tolerated, and I could feel the judgement even as a child . Her parent were wealthy patron of the Church. It doesn't matter, every church is a doctrine compisitory, that's been my experience.

    I'm a recovering Catholic too. We never sang Amazing Grace because it was considered Protestant. I actually think the concept of Original Sin and the sacrament of baptism is how the Church gets the children. They even had the concept of Limbo, where innocent unbaptized babies went if they died. After all, they couldn't go to heaven without baptism.
    All of us know how the Church moved pedophile priests from one parish to another, where they continued to prey on children. I certainly have my doubts that the Church would have simply moved a priest around if he had been caught taking money from Church coffers. I think they would have had him defrocked immediately.

    • @ritavoors7564
      @ritavoors7564 2 года назад +1

      I agree with you about Original Sin and Baptism. That baby John spoke of was a "wretch" because not yet baptized. So much is about fear, which is a powerful means of control.
      I was Roman Catholic, but don't say "recovering ". I have moved on. I have found in Quakerism the freedom, equality, truth and lack of creed that resonates with me and what I think Jeshua proclaimed.

      WOOOWWW... what a poignant point to make. That a priest caught stealing money from the church would be kicked out immediately, but if caught molesting children, well that's okay. Holy gamboly.

      @@ritavoors7564 I went to a few friendly Quaker meetings but I found it ... almost too unscripted. I like a little bit of structure. And I like a place where we can talk about our individual biases in open discussion. I didn't like the lack of thoughtful discussion of what was said by some people as they "channeled Spirit." Especially because they were Trump-bashing which I thought was so inappropriate at the time.

    • @ritavoors7564
      @ritavoors7564 2 года назад

      @@jenniferwerezak4165 Actually there is a branch of Quakers whish is more structured and is called "programmed". It is more similar to mainline Protestants.
      I understand your reaction. It is not for everyone. Our small group is open to great discussions, even though we don't always agree. For me. I have found a spiritual home.

    You did an excellent job fitting in a lot on religion. I was raised Congregationalist and changed to Christian Orthodox when my husband and I married. I volunteered for many years in the Narthex during the annual Greek Festival. The Catholics were the ones who asked the most questions. One time, I overheard a couple ask one of our Priests, whose main profession is a Psychiatrist, if we tell people they’ll go to h_ll if they don’t attend service. He told them we don’t say those things. I look at Jesus for guidance and love. It upsets me to see Christians behave in a way that is a disservice to Christianity. I didn’t know W said that about the invasion into Iraq…just add it to his long list of wrongdoings. I was pleasantly surprised when you brought up about Ruth and the Essenes. (Edgar Cayce?) I’m fascinated by the Essenes and truly believe Jeshua was an Essene. ‘Linda G’ has shared her experiences with Jesus. ‘Akiane Kramarik’ is fascinating which you may enjoy researching her. There’s no doubt Yeshua’s teachings are useful and being used today. To share a story, when my son was in the 1st Grade…one of the girls in his class was very mean to him. When it became time to celebrate his Birthday, I asked my son what would Jesus do? I suggested he invite the girl to his birthday party. I pointed out that she will probably stop being mean because you included her. It worked! Not only did she stop being mean to my son, but her mother told my husband her daughter wanted to find a really nice gift. It actually was the nicest gifts and our older son was wishing it was his! There’s no expiration date on Jeshua’s teachings. 🙏 They’re right there out in the open. People only need to simply open their eyes and see. Thank you for your video and sharing your wealth of information! ☀️

    I, too, am a recovering Catholic. You are the only one I know other than me that I’ve heard say was terrified in church. I fear the smell of well water as the drinking fountain in the church vestibule smelled like iron and this smell reminds me of that fearful place. I am an intuitive and believe I knew the church was not preaching the truth about God and Jesus. I struggle in having a relationship with Jesus now because I’m not sure how he fits In To my story. When people ask if I’m Christian, I don’t know what to say. I was baptized in the church but I don’t believe in the Bible because it was written by man. I do pray daily with gratitude (not supplication). I recently have been talking more with Jesus.

    I grew up in Salt Lake city, Utah so have been to morman churches. I say been there not belonged because I turned my back on them at 8 yrs old when I saw the hypocrisy they taught.
    About 15 yrs ago I started having something like flashbacks to a time long ago and I started getting angry at Christianity. How they took something so simple and good and destroyed it so profoundly. For years I have been struggling with my anger and only recently found I have mellowed with age. I don't believe I have a right to force people to believe the way I do so I would vent to anyone who wasn't entrenched in a formal religion and pray for those who are. I believe this anger has taken its toll on my person and I am in recovery(lol) from this.
    I send you blessings, especially if you are in recovery of that hateful thing called chrystianity.

    I grew up Southern Baptist and my grandparents would tell me some scary stuff about JESUS...He was going to come back with a vengeance and judgment and we needed to be ready! There would be fire coming out of his eyes and he will cast us down if we weren't saved. That always scared me. I remember going to Catholic church with my boyfriend in high school and first of all, I was unimpressed. Secondly: it was boring, Thirdly: I did not resonate with anything they said and I thought it was all rubbush. I just didn't feel right going there. All religions, made me feel dirty, unloved, unworthy, and scared. I stopped going to church because it did nothing but make me feel bad, but it did help me to seek the truth. It took many years and I am still seeking. I especially had a hard time dealing with what happens if someone committed suicide. According to Catholics it is one of the worst sins and you'd go directly to hell cuz it is considered murder, but in the same sentence, God was a loving and forgiving God, except for that and blasphemy. So many rules! And then the demons and shadow people who will come to get you. Do demons and shadow people even exist?

    Almost my first memory is of a De La Salle brother, the Headmaster of my brand new primary school, explaining to me what a Catholic was and what I was to believe. My response was to laugh loudly and tell him not to be so silly, it doesn't work that way. His response, turn red, shout at me loudly, in public, telling me I was wrong and I had to believe what I was told. I was five. He taught me immediately to see all men in black dresses as untrustworthy and dangerous, and was probably one of my first introductions to the feeling of fear. After more than a decade of residential catholic education from De La Salle and Benedictine brothers; using various forms of mental and physical abuse, flawed arguments and inconsistent dogma and literature; trying to convince me of their loving God, I left to face a world. I found I was remarkably well equipped to deal with bullies, drunks, liars and cheats, oh and to spot the kind souls amongst the crowd too. There were a few almost saints amongst that gang of rogues. I have never been and will never be affiliated to any religion, but I am still a recovering Catholic. Thank you John. I had just finished telling the universe I would like to receive my messages of wisdom without all the b#ll$h*t and you showed up. 😃 You are a much appreciated addition to my world.

      I don't believe in Messiah or savior as that would be antithetical to the teachings I received. Mystics by definition have a "more intimate relationship with the risen christ" (~catholic.org). You can't be "more intimate" with something you are one with and the "risen Christ" is literally a term for the messiah. So though I respect the belief, it is not one I hold.
