Any chance we will someday get to see Simon and Sister's place? It must be very artistic. Everything is beginning to come together. The garden and grounds are looking like home.
Awesomes. Great progress. Your mum is not afraid to tackle new things. Good for her. The stones look amazing around the house. Well done all of you. Thank you for sharing. Thoughts and Prayers. Love and Blessings. Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
Hi folks, Simon's stonework is beautiful. Thankyou for answering of questions last video. Your mum is so sweet. I am Australian so we know how devastating wild-fires can be. We always hold our breaths when we have a particularly dry winter and head into summer. I have lived in areas where I have experienced fires on both sides of the road I was leading horses down it was terrifying. The fire moving up the valleys towards us sounded like a freight train coming. The area was right on the edge of Sydney NSW. Always remember to never leave it too late to leave if you have too. The fire-fighters are the true heroes as they put themselves at the forefront protecting others and property. Floods can be bad too especially if you live in areas with river systems. I live in Bundaberg Queensland and it's a beautiful regional town close to the ocean. I love your videos and admired how you built your mum her own little home. It shows you both value family. Cheers from Aussie ❤
Agreed in Portugal it's well known that you don't leave your house on your own when there's a fire close. You might drive the wrong way and get yourself closed in. You stay at home and when it really gets too close the fire fighters will come to your door. They will ask where your water supply is and tell you which direction is safe to evacuate.
Fires are probably the scariest and most worry-some fact of the countryside in Portugal, particularly in central and northern Portugal. Im glad the autumn is here. We have been told that the fire is approaching, we go to our community meeting point. If its way closer, we need to stay indoors and block all the openings with a wet rag and stay away from windows. I hope I never experience something like that. Unfortuntakey the eucalyptus tree has no place in portugal but it is a very useful tree in many areas, including the medical field so my guess is that it will go nowhere. We do need some serious reforestation with native plants like cork which is a very hardy plant, much more resistant to fires. Hopefully things change.
I just love how lush and green it is where you are, and your wonderful mãzeinha getting amongst it and willing to lend a hand. She is beautiful, you are so blessed. The lean to over the laundry will be a lovely addition to your home, Omar's careful planning and execution, just as Simon's, makes your home gorgeous. Thankyou. I look forward to seeing it finished. ❤
While using the shosugi bon technique for structural items around the buildings… I find they are amazing for the garden! Raised beds and even garden borders.. to separate pathways and lawn and flower beds.. my favorite are the torched 6” x 6” beams!
Another thing I love is, when working with wider grained wood, where the lines are spread apart more, torching a bit longer to burn into the softer wood more, then scraping it down and sanding smooth. The softer wood is burned a bit deeper while the harder lines stay shallow.. creates a beautiful to oook at and feel undulating pattern. (Like waves).
Amazing just Amazing 😍 I'm literally speechless 🤯 Hats off to this girl who is a civil engineer, a carpenter, a painter, a tailor, an interior designer, an electrician and a gardener at the same time ❤❤
The house is sure coming along. I can't believe how patient Simon is! So glad that you guys were safe from the fires. We know all too well about the fires here in Central British Columbia, Canada where in 2017 the fires were so bad that we had to evacuate our herd of Highland cattle. No fun and very scary.
Só Happy the fires missed your area and you are safe! Simon's stone working talent is outstanding. It is going to look absolutely stellar. Keep it up and stay safe.❤😊
we are super happy with the new results so far. we would have not been able to achieve the same level of quality at all! Yes, that week was a stressful one here. I’m glad autumn is here!
@@TheIndigoEscape the fires were horrible thank God we got rained upon but still many lost souls human and otherwise. Simon is a gem! Keep him happy...are you going to the Venezuelan Rally tomorrow?
I’m not able to go tomorrow. we did go to the one in Aveiro last time which was nice and then went to a Venezuelan restaurant. I didn’t know there were so many Venezuelans in this area. there was another in Lisbon and in Porto but Aveiro was the closest to us.

Hello beautiful people and fur babies. I honestly can't get over just how much these stone walls grow from week to week especially knowing just how much work and time goes into laying each stone. Just finished your video, and it was very enjoyable, the rock walls look gorgeous, and the roof for outside area is going to look great too. Happy y’all got rain even though it slowed down your work progress and the fires are done, hopefully no more fires, this year, your flowers are still looking gorgeous. Have a blessed week.
Wow!! Incredible progress you guy's and everything is looking stunning 😍 You are coming along in leaps and bounds, despite the awful fires putting a stop to work. Not even the welcome rain is slowing you down. 👏👌👍 Your cosmos is looking beautiful, I'm a bit late in planting mine, but I'm going to anyway 😅
I wonder how your cosmos is doing? Did you get around planting it? Ours its just starting to die but Im waiting for them to dry (rain allowing) to collect the seeds!

Hey, have you thought about a two sided fireplace to go between your big kitchen/ dining/ living room and your bed room? You might not want b to for privacy. But since the walls are Bach to back? Or a couple of vents through the wall? Just thinking. Then I get your old bedroom!❤❤❤❤❤❤ So glad you weren't affected by the fires! ✝️🙏❤🇺🇸🇵🇹👣☘🌻🌻🌻🍍🤗😎

It’s very nice to see the progress of your homes! I have a question. I was wondering if you’d need to put a barrier between the cement bricks and the stone wall so moisture doesn’t permeate inside the house and have infiltration problem like it happened in your mom’s bedroom? I’m not an expert, so I just wanted to understand better 😊 Love watching your videos ❤
You could add insulation, there is no harm but I don't think it will be that necessary. Mums room has one wall like that and its perfectly fine. The ones giving us grief are the stone walls.

Why would we assist someone skilled in a job they've been doing for years? When an electrician or plumber comes to your home to work, do you step in to help them? We focus on what we know how to do and leave tasks we’re inexperienced with to professionals. For our renovation, we hire experts and pay them to handle the jobs we can't do ourselves. We did do a section of the stones and it does look half as good as Simon’s. It takes years to learn that.
Why do we always see Simon finishing the stone wall without your help, and the house is yours and Omar's? I think if you helped him, you could finish the wall in a short time, instead of being busy with the carpentry.
we already answer you first comment. We tried to do some of the wall and stopped because we cannot achieve the standard Simon has. would be a huge waste of time for him to them trying to fix our mistakes.
I've seen many stone walls built on ytube, especially in Portugal, yours is by far the most beautiful, Simon is an artist.
Thank you, Im sure Simon will really appreciate your comment :)

Is simon a stone mason?
He isn't by trade but he is a very good stone mason now
Please add legs or blocks to raise your washing machine/drier! Keeping them in contact with the ground will rust them to hell.
Good point, will look into it
Do you cut each stone before you mount it?
Not every one of them but sometimes you ahve to if they are too deep
