The Alpine Stars Runner Air zips all the way up so that it can double as a body bag, brilliant! I love that your mention of Anthony, I almost spit out my tea.
How dare you keep uploading informative and helpful motorcycle based videos! Why can't you just ride down the road hurling abuse at car drivers... ugh my god! lol love your work Ryan. would love to see a video on custom exhausts
Awesome to see you at almost 100k now, been following since the beginning and always thought you deserved more. Love the quality of videos you put out and can't wait to see what happens in the future!
I like the Joe Rocket Steel City, but their Great White North coat is a little more casual looking. Same style, same price, but has a cool jean jacket look with the hoodie and no big popper buttons down the front. It's super comfortable too. Will definitely be in my closet before summer kicks into high gear! Great vid, thanks!
You can find that Alpinestars Runner Air online for a little over $100 these days. I love my leather jacket for Fall through Spring, but something mesh for summer is a must down here in the southwest. Very glad I watched this video to find out about it.
Hey just an ideal but maybe you could show how well the the jackets reflect at night by turn off the lights and shining a light at them some how I don't know a lot about cameras or if this could be done... just an idea!
Some of the videos I disagree with, but overall you're a very underrated youtuber for the amount of effort I see in your videos. I love it. Keep it up.
Can you please do a "Top 5 motorcycle gear that doesn't look like motorcycle gear" I don't know if you've done that before, but just do a 2017 version.
Delightful use of 'shite'. First time I've heard a North American say it, and you nailed it. Another great vid. (Starting to miss the travel vids and bike reviews now, though!)
Hey Ryan! huge fan from Portugal here! Your videos are awesome and i've been spared from a lot of bad purchasing thanks to you. I'm sorry for my bad english. You rock "V" thank you :)
Thanks for another informative review, most of which I find more helpful than the ones I find on the Revzilla page. Too bad you don't have an American store.
Perfect timing for this video. I'm just in the market for a more casual, non-leather, street jacket and I've been eyeing the Scorpion Covert Flannel Shirt. Do the Icon D3O shoulder and elbow pads fit in it?
Could you advise about gas with ethanol? good idea, bad idea? which product can be used to stop the damage it causes when and if it actually causes any? I know it's not related to this video but you provide good advise so I was wondering what you have to say about it.
Hi there love the vids! I ride a wr250r and was looking at that Scott jacket for spring and fall commutes and weekend rides! Think it's a good option for me?
I like it a lot! Very similar to the River Road Laughlin I reviewed last year (made by the same people). The Street Team has better armour (D3O) and a windproof liner which folds into your pocket, which is neat. Biggest downside is that Black Brand put these stupid skulls on every button. Nothing a metal file won't fix. I actually have a video with the Street Team in it coming out tomorrow by the way. ~RyanF9
Honestly, this stuff helps. I plan on getting into Bikes but the one I'm looking at, the rider wouldn't look right with all the super motorcycle looking gear, so this lowprofile matches well.
Love your vids!! The gear advice is great (esp the helmet safety tests.) Would you consider doing any vids for women's gear? I'm sure you know the number of women riders here in the US has doubled in the last decade and is growing in Europe and Canada as well. It would be nice to get your keen insight on some ladies' gear since I'm an aspiring rider who needs as many resources as possible. Just an idea from a big fan!
Haha that sarcasm though. Ryan I've been with you guys since 30 k subs and I can't wait to see you and the crew at half a mil next year 🤞you deserve it
Hello Ryan, I have been struggling finding gear. And I don't have that much shopping websites in mind. Would you recommend some ? Thank you, I'll be taking any advice.
Where do you live? RevZilla is king of the hill in the States, fortnine.ca is the best in Canada (in my very-biased opinion). Beyond that my knowledge is limited. ~RyanF9
How often do you think you should upgrade your jackets I have a few that are 10 years old or more I haven't bought a new jacket for motorcycle riding in years
I have a full kevlar riding hoodie with armor except for in the back that is extremely comfy. Back armor I could get seperately. Or just use my turtleshield that I have if I bother.
Hey. Do you guys recommend the Rev'it! Tornado 2 jacket and pants? I searched for a review on those in the channel but couldn't find it. If not, could you recommend some of the SAFEST-non-ultraexpensive jackets and pants available nowadays in your opinion? Thanks in advance
hahahhaha! yes! that whole time watching the A* Runner I was praying that zipped the whole way up and you'd do it. Brilliant! thanks for not disappointing!
You might like to check out the NZ based Hellride flannel (they also have a cool hoodie, but I only bought the flannel). Was looking for something I can wear in the North Carolina relative heat (so not as heavy as other stuff), fully kevlar lined, with elbow, shoulder and spine protection built-in/included. Cost me about $150 US. I looked at Scorpion (solid, but a bit frumpy and armor extra) as well as the Speed & Strength variant (only partially Kevlar-lined, poor stitching quality and durability from reviews). If you have some good tips on every day really warm weather riding gear, I'd be all ears.
Hey Ryan. I know the jacket isn't on this video, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Does the Alpinestars Viper Air fit true to the size chart, and if so, are the sleeves short? I'm 6'1 with a 37.5 inch chest, normal sized arms for the height, the chart puts me in a medium but I'm afraid the sleeves are going to be too short. I share the same broomstick physique as you.
excellent video as usual, Ryan. I haven't seen you do any reviews for women's gear yet, which would be very helpful (dirt, ADV, street etc). How 'bout it? Lots of us out there these days, unlike when I started riding 35 years ago....
My local bike shop said that Joe Rocket sold out and the quality has dropped drastically, as such, they dont carry their product anymore. Do you have any thoughts on that?
Ryan, I need a review on Armoured Flannel Shirts. Joe Rocket, Speed and Strength, Scorpion are three I know of and I'm sure you know of more, which is the best and why?
Nice list, never really considered these things, mostly I look like a biker even when casually riding. Just out of curiosity, are you doing any more bike reviews in the future, I really miss those high quality reviews. Thx!
instead of the steel city i picked the joe rock great white north. pretty much the same as sttel city but way more ventilation but not waterproof. i like it as its casual too
Hey Ryan, can you make a video on the most expensive jackets that are actually worth buying? Jackets that don't throw extra money just for the name, actually premium jackets that make no compromises. Thanks!
I dont understand, these jackets will provide no protection if you fall off your bike right? They are basically overpriced hoodies? Or do they have protection?
Hey Ryan quick question. I'm looking to get a mesh/warm weather riding jacket this season. I'm looking at the icon anthem 2 and the alpine stars runner air. which in your opinion is best value. My current jacket is the icon contra, great jacket just very bulky. Thanks.
I like 'em both. The Runner Air is better ventilated and I think it looks cooler. Meanwhile the Anthem 2 comes with a thermal liner and a full suite of D3O armour. The Alpinestars' shoulder and elbow pads are fine but the back pad sucks. If you already have a back pad you can swap from another jacket, I'd say get the Runner Air. Otherwise the Anthem is worth a serious look. ~RyanF9
Thoughts on the Rev'it Stealth hoody? I think it looks cool but the price is kinda whack...like most Rev'it. But I'm willing to shell out if it's worth the extra cash.
Ryan could you make a video for best jackets in extremely hot weather? I live in South Texas and it is 110 degrees (45 Celsius) all day... everyday. pretty much year round. our winters we might hit 50 degrees if we're lucky and even then that'll only last a couple weeks at most
The 1000 Basehawk is $100 dollars more than the merc stealth. How much are you getting for $100 dollars more and how much are you losing going with the merc for $100 dollars less?
Hey Ryan, will you you be reviewing any other of the Scott gear you have on the F9 site? I'm interested in a dual sport, waterproof, vented type jacket for daily riding and backwoods exploring on the west coast. Scott seems to offer some more budget friendly options, but there is a total lack of info/reviews on the web! Thx!
To add to this, it seems like a good waterproof vented SHELL is the only way to get true versatility. I don't really buy into the under-jacket waterproof layer for a few reasons. 1. The jacket its self gets wet, and when it is wet it will not allow the waterproof under-jacket to breath very well. 2. Any venting only vents to the under-jacket, which will still leave you sweating, unless you stop to zip out the waterproof layer. I currently just ride with a cheapo waterproof over-suit to throw on when its raining, and going the route of under-jacket waterproofing does not really seem to offer any advantages. I just came across Scorpions Yukon suit.. looks very impressive, however still well north of 1000$. Considering all of this, does anyone have recommendations for a budget friendly waterproof, vented shell? (Yes I know Klim.)
can you do a full review of that scott jacket? and reviews of other scott jackets? i can't find anywhere reviews of any scott motorcycle jackets. thanks! love your videos btw :D
Heya, has any one given a look at the Bores brand from Germany? The Safety 1 Kevlar looks cool and says to be water proof through a coating but i was just wondering about the actual feel and quality of it since i don't have it in any stores.
is it that you haven't gotten the Scott Sport in stock yet or did all your Scott Sports get bought the second your vid uploaded? o.O All sizes for the Scott Sport is out of stock =\
Hey Adam - yep! It did indeed solve the length issue. The Steel City still fits a bit shorter on the waist than other jackets, but that's part of the style. ~RyanF9
The Alpine Stars Runner Air zips all the way up so that it can double as a body bag, brilliant! I love that your mention of Anthony, I almost spit out my tea.
his old tinder profile said "Hi i'm Ryan F9 and i'm 6'3'' with a 39" chest"
In a more recent video he says he's 6'3" with a 42" chest. So he's either been hitting the weights hard, or hitting the pies hard.
Is that u situation?
Jesus, makes me feel like a gorilla at 54" chest!
@Eric Weber I have double chests.
How dare you keep uploading informative and helpful motorcycle based videos! Why can't you just ride down the road hurling abuse at car drivers... ugh my god! lol love your work Ryan. would love to see a video on custom exhausts
omg the second you zipped up the zipper all the way up made my day I replayed over like 10 times 😂😂
6:42 Fucking hilarious🤣🤣
You're the man Ryan no one does moto gear reviews like you. I find myself watching reviews on stuff I'm never gonna buy but it's interesting anyway!
Awesome to see you at almost 100k now, been following since the beginning and always thought you deserved more. Love the quality of videos you put out and can't wait to see what happens in the future!
Hahahaha 1.48 mil later
I like the Joe Rocket Steel City, but their Great White North coat is a little more casual looking. Same style, same price, but has a cool jean jacket look with the hoodie and no big popper buttons down the front. It's super comfortable too. "My wife tells me..."
How old are you? You're...married?
Josh Rips clearly you haven't done enough stalking...
Check the ring, mate.
That's what I said I thought he was like 20-25 definitely never even noticed the ring.
joffrey gets married whenever tf he wants to
too bad haha, they're actually kinda cute
That quip/reference/jab you made at Anthony from Revzilla made me lol
Basehawk and Merc Stealth FTW! Icon has come a long way and offers some incredible value products that aren't hideous, even good-looking!
I just signed up for my first msf course and your videos have been an awesome resource! Thanks man! :)
I tink I have watched every single one of your videos. Woah
Woah! Kudos. I'm not sure I have... ~RF9
Dead Caste yea that would be cool! Top 5 discrete motorcycle gear
"Its abrasion resistance is sheite" What a lovely word. A lovely, lovely word. You should use it more often.
Delightful use of 'shite'. First time I've heard a North American say it, and you nailed it. Another great vid. (Starting to miss the travel vids and bike reviews now, though!)
Haha thanks. The snow is officially melted in Montreal... you won't be waiting much longer for bike reviews and travel videos :) ~RF9
I DIED AT 6:45 LMAO.
ahahahahha
It's for protecting your face in a hail storm. Duh.
and then you ride using The Force
Omfg I can't stop laughing 😂😂😂
Looooooooool 😂😂😂
Hey Ryan! huge fan from Portugal here! Your videos are awesome and i've been spared from a lot of bad purchasing thanks to you. I'm sorry for my bad english. You rock "V" thank you :)
I think for a city jacket the visibility is of highest importance.
Dude, I am pissing myself laughing. That hood zipper thing has me on the floor. Love your reviews.
If you've ever wanted to quantify the difference between American vs Canadian... Then Ryan vs Anthony is the perfect illustration 😎
Good review. I will be checking out at least two of the jackets mentioned for my own purchase consideration. Thanks!
Thanks for another informative review, most of which I find more helpful than the ones I find on the Revzilla page. Too bad you don't have an American store.
That's really cool how the zipper goes all the way up doubles as a rucksack flip it upside down and throw some stuff in
Love the Steel City! Great to see more casual-looking bike apparel, it kind of gets old looking like a Power Ranger every time I ride somewhere...
Any thoughts on the Icon Raiden UX Jacket? really wondering how breathable it is for SoCal Spring and Summer
Congrats for 1million bro u deserved it
"I am still 6'3" phew that is a relief I could have sworn you grew by 5 inches since the last time you mentioned it.
I love the Alpinestars Runner Air Jacket. It also acts as a body bag...just in case.
Perfect timing for this video. I'm just in the market for a more casual, non-leather, street jacket and I've been eyeing the Scorpion Covert Flannel Shirt. Do the Icon D3O shoulder and elbow pads fit in it?
Cool! Yeah, I put my D3O pads into the Covert Flannel last year. Don't remember having any problems with it :) ~RyanF9
Dude these were amazing 👌🏼
Thanks for the knowledge 🤙🏼
Could you advise about gas with ethanol? good idea, bad idea? which product can be used to stop the damage it causes when and if it actually causes any?
I know it's not related to this video but you provide good advise so I was wondering what you have to say about it.
Thanks for all the great reviews. Any chance you would review women's gear? - and please consider ADV gear too!
Hi there love the vids!
I ride a wr250r and was looking at that Scott jacket for spring and fall commutes and weekend rides! Think it's a good option for me?
Hey - yeah that's a good option! Fun bike by the way... I had one of those very briefly. ~RyanF9
FortNine hey thanks man appreciate the reply! Just got it on a wicked deal! Super stoked as it's my first street legal bike!
the full zip zipper is ahead of it's time. It was designed for the bird box challenge
Nope. The jacket doubles up as a body bag if things go south.
What is your opinion on the Black Brand Street Team jacket? Seems to meet your criteria for this video though a little pricier than the options shown.
~RyanF9
love the alpinestars zip review!

great vids man im a rider and your videos have helped me
Hello Ryan,
I have been struggling finding gear. And I don't have that much shopping websites in mind. Would you recommend some ? Thank you, I'll be taking any advice.
I've found a website, and I'm happy with it's offers. But having other options would always be better.
Where do you live? RevZilla is king of the hill in the States, fortnine.ca is the best in Canada (in my very-biased opinion). Beyond that my knowledge is limited. ~RyanF9
How often do you think you should upgrade your jackets I have a few that are 10 years old or more I haven't bought a new jacket for motorcycle riding in years
I haven't laughed that much in so long... hahah dancing with the hoodie zipped up
When you say ‘street speeds’ what range of mph are you thinking? Does street speeds include highway speeds?
always love a honest review.
6:41 sweet it doubles as a body bag!
love the reference to Anthony from Revzilla hahaha you are hilarious
I have a full kevlar riding hoodie with armor except for in the back that is extremely comfy. Back armor I could get seperately. Or just use my turtleshield that I have if I bother.
Hello, I'm Ryan F9 and these are my favorite straightjackets. :-D
Hey. Do you guys recommend the Rev'it! Tornado 2 jacket and pants? I searched for a review on those in the channel but couldn't find it. If not, could you recommend some of the SAFEST-non-ultraexpensive jackets and pants available nowadays in your opinion? Thanks in advance

Once again Ryan Great job, kill'n it!
Can you make a list of the best back protectors please :)
It's being edited as we speak :) ~RyanF9
My local bike shop said that Joe Rocket sold out and the quality has dropped drastically, as such, they dont carry their product anymore. Do you have any thoughts on that?
Ryan, I need a review on Armoured Flannel Shirts. Joe Rocket, Speed and Strength, Scorpion are three I know of and I'm sure you know of more, which is the best and why?
great quality video as always thank you 😄
Ryan, what would you recommend as a replacement for the Scott Sport DP jacket? It has been discontinued on your store! :(
Nice list, never really considered these things, mostly I look like a biker even when casually riding.
Just out of curiosity, are you doing any more bike reviews in the future, I really miss those high quality reviews.
Thx!
Hey - yes indeed! Our bike review season is just starting (as the snow is recently gone). You can expect plenty of 'em throughout the summer. ~RyanF9
I have an alpinestar wind breaker and hate the snapping in the wind it produces. What jackets do not do this...
instead of the steel city i picked the joe rock great white north. pretty much the same as sttel city but way more ventilation but not waterproof. i like it as its casual too
Great! Can you show how these jacket work in the bad weather?
Hey Ryan, can you make a video on the most expensive jackets that are actually worth buying? Jackets that don't throw extra money just for the name, actually premium jackets that make no compromises. Thanks!
How is the Joe rocket steel city jacket in hot summer weather??? Breathable?
What about jackets for white collars? :) I cannot find a well protected, stylish and functional jacket which is acceptable for business suit.
am surprised there is none rev'it jacket in your list!
they make solid jackets.
flexer83 Fortnine does not sell them so they aren't available For Ryan
Faisal Aldosari so that's why Ryan never do review for Dainese
Rizky Antoni He actually did review some gear from Dainese i believe it's in the mesh jackets and mesh pants videos
Thanks.

Otherwise the Anthem is worth a serious look. ~RyanF9
FortNine Can you remove the shoulder and elbow protection ? I assume yes... This would be so that you can wear an armoured shirt underneath instead
great job man, big fan from Chile. Saludos
Thoughts on the Rev'it Stealth hoody? I think it looks cool but the price is kinda whack...like most Rev'it. But I'm willing to shell out if it's worth the extra cash.
Yeah I like it! Very nice looking. Downside is that it's super hot in the the summer, but for the other two seasons it's brilliant. ~RyanF9
Joe Rocket Steel city? Without the inner hoodie liner is it alright for summer rides?
Those pictures are amazing. Are those made with film camera?
Joe Rocket Steel City Jacket: what's the armor situation? Abrasion resistance?
Have you tried any "Roadskin" gear? If yes, what did you think? If no....... Can you as I'm thinking of buying some. Cheers, great videos.
Have you done reviews on the versys Kawasaki 650 please forward I like your style
How much are you getting for $100 dollars more and how much are you losing going with the merc for $100 dollars less?
fort nine still links to the 2016! should be updated to this video!
Is it possible to get the Steel City in the USA? Having trouble finding it :/
Man, ur vids are so helpful, u have no idea. Thx :)
Is the Street and Steel Mulholland Jacket the same quality as the Joe Rocket Steel City Jacket?
Oo should add the Speed and Strength Off the chain 2.0
It was a similar style to the street steel but drops farther but its a bit more baggy
Is there anywhere to get the Steel City jacket in the USA? I can't find it anywhere.
can you do a full review of that scott jacket? and reviews of other scott jackets? i can't find anywhere reviews of any scott motorcycle jackets. thanks!
love your videos btw :D
What do you recommend for sizing on the steel city? Are you still 6'3" with a 39" chest? haha
great reviews bro ... ur subscriber from India :)
Haha I seriously doubt they all got bought. More likely is that we're in between shipments. ~RyanF9
Yo Ryan, you mentioned in the retro vid that you'd try a large steel city for your height. Did you ever, and did it solve the length issue?
Hey Adam - yep! It did indeed solve the length issue. The Steel City still fits a bit shorter on the waist than other jackets, but that's part of the style. ~RyanF9
Nice reviews, man. Sub'd.
Bro, your very good! Keep it up!
You should look at the Finn Moto Kevlar hoodie
How do I purchase the steel city jacket in the U.S.A.?
