I keep hearing for vacation rental credit, you don't really need to book with airbnb or vrbo. Is that true? Can you use the portal to earn that extra $200 credit?
Advice needed: I got denied for the VenturX about 2 months ago due to having over 20 credit cards. I then opened a savings account with Capital One. I personally wouldn't do it. However, if you do, it's my understanding you'll need to wait 1 year to upgrade from the Venture to the Venture X, not 6 months.

Awesome video, Mark! I hope you can answer a few of my questions. I got this card just today and I can't find clear info on what benefits you need to register or activate, most of the visa infinite benefits particularly. The luxury hotel collection validation page rejects my card number. How do you know which ones you actually get? For the priority pass, do you just walk in there and show your card? I see they have their own app and their own membership subscription pages, but nothing about how this all works with the venture X.
Hey Ionic Tech! Congrats on getting the Venture X 💥 1. To view the card benefits... - Log into your Capital One account - Click on your Venture X card - Click on the Gear Icon that says "I want to..." - Under Benefits & Rewards, you'll see an option to view benefits 2. Quick question to anyone that has this card. I have the Venture X and I'm working on the 100k Bonus. Capital One has a tracker on their app and website which tells you how much more you need to spend to get it. I checked my account today and the bonus tracker is gone. I checked on the app and on the website and can't find it anywhere. I know for damn sure it hasn't been 6 months yet. Anyone else having this issue???
@@MarkReese it was around $7500 I was going to pay some bills these coming weeks but now not really sure how to track the bonus. I don't trust C1 to give me the bonus once I hit the 10k mark. I had an issue with them last year in not giving me a sign up bonus for their checking account. I had to escalate the issue for someone to manually review my account to see that I did in fact complete the terms and get my bonus. Took months. 😔
Just got off the phone with a rep and his response was that I was at a little over 8k spend and that he's "heard" of when you get closer to the 10k limit the tracker goes away. And once I hit the 10k mark it should trigger the bonus and I'll get the bonus in my account in 1-2 billing cycles. How long did you have to wait for the 100k miles to show on your account?

@Mark Reese, which one do you recommend I’m getting a pre-approval for a venture for 10K or should I go with a CSP for the points.
So the question is a 10K offer vs. 60K offer? Are you below 5/24?
@@MarkReese well I have 3 credit cards under my name and I have 1 that I’m a authorized user on, and I have a auto loan under my name. Would that already the 5/24 rule?
@@shengduh8740 - Only bank cards count, not auto loans. So you have 3 individual cards + 1 AU card ... and were they all opened or added within the past 24 months?
@@MarkReese
Amex-2015
Capital One-2018
First Premier-2018
JP Freedom-2021
So would this cards fall under the 5/24 rule
@@shengduh8740 - Since only 1 of them falls within the past 24 months, it seems like you're at 1/24 👍
To clarify, is the "10K" you mentioned for the Capital One Venture as $10,000 credit limit ... or a 10,000-point upgrade offer?
Hey Mark, Do you know if Venture card holders can product change to a Venture X?…. Also, I really appreciate the work you put into these videos that keep us all well informed.
Venture cardholders can product change to Venture X. You can also do it online instead of calling in you don’t want to
Thank you!
Hi Carlos - yes you can. However, no welcome bonus will be offered. An exception would be if you get targeted specifically with an _upgrade offer._
Thanks!
@@CarlosAJ1 👍
Is the $300 credit an annual thing?
It sure is! 👍
I keep hearing for vacation rental credit, you don't really need to book with airbnb or vrbo. Is that true? Can you use the portal to earn that extra $200 credit?
Data points are varied. A lot of other travel purchases have been working. Mine worked for rent 😂✌️
Advice needed: I got denied for the VenturX about 2 months ago due to having over 20 credit cards. I then opened a savings account with Capital One. "Now" it looks like I have excellent chances of being approved for the regular Venture. Should I go for the Venture, and upgrade 6months later or wait ✋️ until my chances for the VentureX improves. I'm also looking to add the United Club card and the Ink unlimited cards?
I personally wouldn't do it. However, if you do, it's my understanding you'll need to wait 1 year to upgrade from the Venture to the Venture X, not 6 months.
@@MarkReese Yeah, it's just best for me to stay focused on Chase for now. Thanks bro.
I just got Venture X Card,
I know they only offer $100 credit for Global Entry/Pre-Check
but I am applying for all 4 of my family members fo Global Entry
do you know if other $300 will be applied against Travel Credit ?
Congrats on your Venture X approval, Ashu! The $300 Travel Credit cannot be used for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry.
Congrats on getting the Venture X 💥
1. To view the card benefits...
- Log into your Capital One account
- Click on your Venture X card
- Click on the Gear Icon that says "I want to..."
- Under Benefits & Rewards, you'll see an option to view benefits
2. For Priority Pass, you need to enroll & receive your separate PP membership card in the mail. Here's the direct link to do that: www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/benefits/
@@MarkReese Awesome! Thank you very much!
@@IonicTechYT - You got it!
It's weird cause I booked a hotel thru the cap 1 portal and I still have not gotten the 300 dollar redemption 🙄🙄🙄
Did you pay upfront? If so, how long ago did it post to your account?
@@MarkReese yes I paid upfront I paid for it in the beginning of January and it still hasn't posted
@@ovx23 - I'd contact Capital One and ask.
If my scores are right around 700, would it safer when applying for US Bank to apply for one of their good secured cards and hopes it graduates?
Regarding "safer..." probably. Secured cards will nearly always be easier for approvals compared to regular unsecured cards. Still a good score, well done 👍
@@MarkReese My thought process was, I have no relationship to US Bank except a card from Elan Financial, and their Secured cards are actually pretty good. Hoping I could just have better luck with that and hope it graduates one day
I have a credit card with a $80.00 annual fee & a $12.00 monthly fee. I don't want to cancel the card bc it's the oldest credit card I have and I know the affects your credit.
Can you pls tell me how to handle this so I don't mess my credit up?
To clarify, you have 2 cards total?
How old is each one?
What's your current credit score?
@@MarkReese Yes, two cards. My credit score is 645. The oldest card is about 8 years old.
@@lt2195 - Have you identified the credit factors that are keeping your score down?
@@MarkReese Yes, I was in bankruptcy when I got these 2 cards. I got the cards to try and build my credit back up. My bankruptcy was cleared at the end of December 2021.
@@lt2195 - Got it, and great that you got it cleared up 👊 Is your oldest card the one with the $80 annual fee? How old is the 2nd one?
Quick question to anyone that has this card. I have the Venture X and I'm working on the 100k Bonus. Capital One has a tracker on their app and website which tells you how much more you need to spend to get it. I checked my account today and the bonus tracker is gone. I checked on the app and on the website and can't find it anywhere. I know for damn sure it hasn't been 6 months yet. Anyone else having this issue???
My tracker disappeared too 😕 However, I did complete the spend prior to it going away. Do you know how much you spent on the card already?
@@Al3xTrucho20 - Hmm got it. Personally, I'd add up the transactions you've made to get an exact number. I don't recall how long the wait was for the 100K miles, though it was quick.
