Talk about durability, my son just played his last 13u tournament and has swung the Marucci Cat 9 Comp, 31 drop 5 from his Spring season of 12u through the Spring season of 13u. Not one crack , seam, or rattle. IMO, the best USSSA comp bat out there. Plus, 2 other kids on the team also used it. FYI, he hit 19 tanks with it, lol.
As someone who played baseball growing up I would LOVE to see if you could find the skinny barrel combat B1 “da bomb” or the blue B2 and review those for some of this newer gen kids who might not be familiar with them. That was next level pop. Or even like the TPX tritons or the Catalyst. Would be interesting to see that exit velo and distance! Love the vids.
Those combats were ridiculous. They were made in Caledonia, Minnesota and their only travel team for any age when I was playing I think it was 13u and 14u they won state back to back and they had illegal bats that were re-wrapped to look like the B2. I think Combats owner was the head coach or atleast one of his kids was on the team and supplied it. But ngl the normal B2 was insane so no one really suspected it we just thought they were cracked but whoever they played in the championship asked for them to be studied and they were way different
Hey will my name is Daniel and I am going into my 13u season and I play third base and sometimes shortstop, I was wondering if we could review a 2024 usssa bat like what you are going to do in the next part with some 7th graders. I am also going into the 7th grade and I think that would be perfect. I hope this gets to you Will, and have a great day.❤
I think it needs to be said that with the professionalism and seriousness in which you do your business, I don't think you need to make disclaimers about "being serious" about your exit velos and distance computed by the Rapsodo/HitTrax. If casual people who don't follow the channel want to think that something's "off" or "funny", let them. People who follow the channel know that you're giving it a square, honest effort and what is produced in velo/distance is the real deal as best as the tools allow to be measured. That said, I really appreciate the words and expertise on display. The knowledge of bats and companies is fantastic to see. Much respect.
My son coaches 10-12 year old boys and they watch your videos (parents also) at practice. Your videos are both entertaining to the kids and informative to the parents. They say "to imitate is to compliment". So know this, you all are being copied and imitated around the country (well at least by these boys in Alliance here). Your doing a good thing and having fun at the same time, I really hope the best for you Will and the Bros. Rock on 🤘😎
To be honest it would take atleast 10-20 swings atleast, will can take a whole round of Bp with it and obviously he doesn’t swing as hard but it wouldn’t be a crazy difference, he literally hit a ball close to 110 with a wood bat and one the hardest ball this year was 120 in the mlb, and the guy who did that is a monster
I also own both -5 bats. Hype Fire Short break in time Decent sweet spot (took about 10-15 cuts to get used to) Higher exit velo Comfortable knob for palm Durability concerns (none currently) Swings like a balanced XL1 Hotter than all XL1s (I own them all) and Green Zen Doesn't come in 33" (Cat X and Zens do)

My 8u player hits 61mph exit velo with a catx alloy 29” drop 10 about to head to 9u and was buying a 30” drop 10 hype cause he swung the 29” one and it swings lighter than the X. So getting him the 30” I hope keeps the timing the same because he was so out front on the 29”.
@@jonasguarino5468 I thought about that as well. Was just listening to his hitting coach. Kinda hoping for hr longer bay gets my kid to back off the plate a little, he got pegged 3 times in this last tournament.

I’ve been swinging an atlas bbcor really good and bought an icon. It just didn’t seem good for me. I’m wondering if I should get a catx connect, Warstic hybrid, or select power. I like the hybrid feel with more barrel.
My son has both and he was hitting back forth with each one. We both felt like the Green Zen has slightly better. I would like to see Will do an instrumented test.
Can you do a comparison of the old vs. DeMarini D243 Composite? They increased the price from $150 to $250. Could be a good comparison since it’s been s few years since they came out in 2018!
Dropping $350 on a one season bat is crazy anyway. CAT9 Comp...bought for $150...sold for $150 after the season. Investment...$0. Oldest...bought green zen -5 $200....sold $400....investment...+$100. (Had to give my buddy who sold it to me $100) he used a $60 voodoo balanced -5 @ 12U.
@@baseballbatbrosi just snagged a cat 9 comp new in the wrapper on eBay for 180 29/21 for my 9 year old and he’s been ripping with it. I’m stoked to check the fire out but don’t wanna drop that money
Man, it's wild to me what the rules are with bats these days. When I was a kid in the '90s, a big barrel bat wasn't allowed until you were 13, and only 13 year olds could swing a -5. 14+ was limited to -3. The fact these kids can be swinging a big barrel -8 is insane. I don't think I had ever even seen a -8, regardless of barrel, until these vids. I was swinging 33/30s at 13, as were most of my league, only the really rich kids were swinging -5, because most parents wouldn't dream of spending even $100+ on a bat for one year.
@@daniel_enlow that’s true. I had a Reflex, one guy I played with had a Redline, they were great. Still, a -8 would have been insane. Learning to catch up to 75 with a -3 at 13 was rough.

But hes absolutely banging balls. You had him wanting the bonesaber hybrid but it doesnt come in a 32/33 drop 5. Is their any other bat you could suggest? I'm just hoping the regulation doesn't come crashing down on it because it is HOT. I used it after it had a major crack running down the barrel from a guy using it and it still hit a ball about 10 mph faster than my usual with a wood bat. A fully broken in hype fire is legit scary to watch. I can't wait to get one for myself and cut it open lol

how is the -8 more durable? Obviously not an expert when it comes to bats, but it seems if the -8 is lighter for the same length, they would have to remove weight somewhere and that would compromise durability??

These bats have a crazy trampoline effect and are mainly used in "travel" ball here in the states. You don't have to be a decent hitter to hit line drives or gappers with these bats. As long as you place the barrel in front of the ball, it will travel.
