    I just finished reading his autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, and in one of his journal entrie's I saw this in my mind. In the entry he writes:
    "UNDATED
    For a moment tonight I felt like Christ. It was snowing on me, and I could have been anywhere-Wichita, Berlin, Golgotha. There was a mirror behind the crowd on the wall, and I watched myself like a painting, frozen. The gash in my side bled and bled. It was so beautiful that I cried right there in front of five thousand people. I was letting out the boy who died on his plastic cross in elementary school. He escaped through the hole in my ribs."
    I couldn't hold back my watery eyes as I read this, and as I watch this beautiful performance. This man will forever be in my heart and an endless inspiration to me.

    imagine he had completely disappeared after holly wood album (guns god and gov world tour) what an absolute icon he would be. he had that mystery around his persona. just watch in this concert what a piece of art it actually is, the subtle light show, that reveals once in a while the presence of some entity in the back, his face in the shadow and once in a while a synced throb lightens it.. the whole thing is just a piece of art. this sense of mystery had the advantage of pre-internet videos, with vhs resolution and the scarcity of means to access these videos contributing to the persona. I grew up listening to this guy and I feel so privileged for that. I think these kind of artists, the least they expose themselves to the media, the better.

      I know I’m too late but it was said he was apparently going to retire after Golden Age of Grotesque album which is why he released his Lest We Forget Best of Marilyn Manson compilation album which would’ve been badass because by that point he had a great career that would’ve been badass retiring with 5 badass albums plus one compilation album that would’ve been a great way to end his career but still it’s not bad that he kept going.

      He kind of turned into goofy clown Manson during Holy Wood with surface lyrics like "disposable teens" and "Fight Song". His songs became more about the hook than the meaning. He lost his passion and decided to cash in after Animals. The great imagery was gone after Antichrist and he realized people were not as in love with his glam imagery so he made a desperate attempt to recapture it with Holy Wood. I can't blame him. I would lose energy too after playing with Rose's attributes on top of a pile of cash.

      @NemorisInferioris 2 года назад +1

      @@tombooty5144 Songs like Disposable Teens and The Fight Song were singles, they're catchy and are what draws in audiences. The Rest of the album is full of some of his best lyricism and the album imo has the most well executed imagery of all albums, the album artwork and Tarot Cards, all to accompany the novel he wrote... Holy Wood imo is his magnum opus. Holy Wood was a declaration of war, retaliation against America and the media. It combined ACSS and MA perfectly to have the glam rock accessiblity that MA had, while having the themes and messages that ACSS introduced and expanded upon them. If anything, TGAOG was him cashing out (Tainted Love cover..), but even that he was totally original and found a way to rebrand himself once again without losing the integrity of his art and message. Hard to go from ACSS-MA-HW-TGAOG and not get burnt out, so it makes sense he wanted to retire from music and move on to other mediums of art. Then in 2005 his marriage fell apart and his mother's health was deteriorating, and he found music to be a limiting way for him to express himself. Like how Jim Morrison wanted to quit music and become a poet. Lucky for us and himself, he kept going, found retribution and made another 6 amazing albums (imo).

      Same! I mentioned Manson to my mom for the first time in over 20 years about two months ago and she said "Hey! I still have that Marilyn Manson shirt of yours from when you were a kid, if you want it."
      The first Xmas gift I ever got from my boyfriend back in 1998 (still together 26 years later) was the "I wasn't born with enough middle fingers" shirt. I thought it was loooong gone, but she had put it in a ziploc baggie and saved it for me all these years. When we met up for her to give it to me, I thanked her for never trying to ban me from Manson. She wasn't a fan of all the posters in my room and ACS blasting all day and night, but she never tried to stop me.
      Thanks mom!

    I have said it in the MV of this song and I'll say it here this is maybe my favorite song of all of them and it always brings tears to me because of the passion he puts in this song

    I feel like the recorded version doesn’t do justice to the songs meaning. The live version however, seems to capture more emotion and more grit in his voice. I can feel him sort of cry out his true self on stage.

    I don't know if I ever been in love. If I ask myself such a question, the answer should be obvious.

    Who do I have to sell my soul to to be him. Wish the world was in a state where someone could be this again and I wish that could be me. Thought at one point that Chris motionless would take his place but that didn't end up being a thing he became more like the new Ben burely lol this is what heaven is to me this is all I could want it to be

      Marilyn Manson became famous because of this album and also because of his shock rock acts and his lyrics and in this generation rock and metal music isn't promoted by the music industry anymore.

      Since you mentioned that other singer I remember reading RUclips comments back in 2012 and 2014 that his fans were saying he's going to be the next Marilyn Manson and that made me laugh.The difference between them is that when Marilyn made his debut people were terrified of him they thought that he came from the underworld or something and that other singer was never scary or made an impact like Marilyn Manson.
