That voids the whole concept of being a 'free citizen' and makes America into a bunch of little fiefdoms. Unacceptable.

      That's exactly right. We are 50 States that have United and agreed to work together as one country. The Constitution is the agreement between the states. Anything not in the Constitution or agreed by the states in federal law is left up to the states to decide. That's why every state has a different drivers license and traffic laws for example.

  • @carljones9640

    "Letting each state decide what they want" isn't how the contry is supposed to be ran. It's supposed to be ran with certain recognitions of inalienable rights, as in no one gets a say in them. In fact, they wouldn't even start the country until they agreed to put at least 10 things that couldn't just be voted away into the Constitution. We've since added a few more, and ruled that many things fall under the scope of those explicitly written. Abortions were one of those things until a handful of religious zealots forced their beliefs on all of us, which incidentally is a violation of not just the 14th Amendment but the 1st as well. Turns out that the "leave it to the states!" people have no idea how our government actually works, in any particular way. Shocking, huh?

    A female can only get pregnant ONCE in 9 months.
    A male can cause multiple pregnancies EVERYDAY.

Which is logical cause who in a normal state of mind want's to be pregnant in a red state but honestly who wants to be pregnant at all if you aren't rich in the US

  • @Groffili

    While the approach is a good one, the example is not so well chosen. Supporters of this "States Rights" can, with complete justification, say: "Well... THIS is set by the U.S. Constitution... THAT is not, and thus (also by the Constitution) to be left to the states."
    I totally understand the sheer lunacy to allow any political establishment to exercise control of their citizens' life, up to putting them in mortal danger, just "because we have the right"... but I fear from a purely legal point of view, it's hard to fight against it. You'd need political power to change that... and I do hope you will succeed in that.
    Sorry that I don't have any more constructive comment to offer.

      not sure i recall accurately. but I THINK its the tenth amendment that states 'anything not covered by the constitution is to be determined by the states' which means states can make laws, and laws more restrictive than federal. the main issue is a ferally decided right, was walked back. and there has now been different responses by each state. some enshrined the freedom. Some which has citizen led initiatives allowed, have had a vote by the populace to get the right on the books. in states with GOP heavy legislatures, especially those without citizen led initiatives allowed. there are the draconian bans, and coverage of possible travel bans too, so leaving the state while pregnant isn't allowed, maybe even leaving the state as a female.....

    • @Kelly_Ben
      @Kelly_Ben 11 дней назад

      The thing many people choose to forget is that the constitution was DESIGNED to be updated with the times, and has been numerous times. The writers understood that society, technology etc WOULD change, and made ways to keep the constitution relevant and up to date.
      Sadly, we assumed that, due to past precident and the lies of the Supreme Court, that Roe Vs Wade was adequate to cover the situation. We now know it needs to be made into an Amendment.
