    Tecovas is the most talked about boot brand in the Western footwear space, so we had to try their bestselling Earl to find out, well, why it's the bestseller. Of all the boots they offer, is this subtle roper boot the ideal way for anyone to branch out into cowboy style? And how does it hold up to actual ranch work? Troy Barmore took them from the streets of Brooklyn to the muddy stables of upstate New York to find out. He likes them! There's your review.

    I love my Tecovas, I have 4 pairs and got them at bargain prices at their warehouse sales in Texas. 75 for deans/roys, 150 for cartwright and 215 for lizard nolans. Little to no noticeable issues so was thrilled to pick them up for so cheap. I like that the suede Roys are compact and fit in my suitcase and are good travel boots for most occasion. I’ve had many cowboy boots and I can honestly say that Tecovas are great boots. The pricing is great. There are other brands that have a much higher price tag and their boots are trash. Unlike many of Ariat’s boots, Tecovas aren’t made in China. Tecovas boots also have an inner lining on their boots unlike Ariat boots of the same price. At this point I’m on my third pair of Tecovas and I will gladly buy more.

    Cowboy boots are for everyone, but not everyone is for cowboy boots. Even if you’re not a “western” person and you live more of a city type lifestyle it’s still not the end of the world. Here are some things to avoid when wearing cowboy boots, coming from a born and raised Texan if that matters
    1. Don’t wear tight skinny jeans with boots, just my bias unless you’re wearing cowboy cuts.
    2. Don’t tuck your pant legs into your boots unless you’re doing work. the leather will protect your pant legs from damage, dirt, mud etc…. Otherwise it looks trashy if you’re at a bar or social event. and it’s a joke I’ve heard for years. But if that’s your thing then country folk will make jokes that “you like to hangout in the barn with the pigs and goats”
    3. In a social setting “bar, date, whatever” Never wear your boots with shorts or anything other than full length pants, the one exception to the rule is you’re mudding in a field with your buddies and everybody’s drunk. You could wear boots and cut off jeans or swim shorts. But me personally, I wouldn’t get my 300$ pretty boots covered in mud, I’ll just wear rubber boots

    • @MisterKnightly
      @MisterKnightly Год назад +2

      @@Antenox You're not wrong, and Chelseas are great. But the cowboy boot is something different, at least most places. If you're confident enough to wear western boots, that says something about you to an observer.
      Now, poor quality or cheap cowboy boots aren't very impressive on the comfort front, but you can get good quality, hand made and resoleable Westen boots without much effort, and they can be real works of art. I have a few pairs myself, and there isn't anything more comfortable in my entire collection. And they always get compliments.

    If these had a veg tan leather insole I'd be all over it. Can't hang with the foam, it makes my foot flex in weird ways that pinches a nerve and makes my legs go numb. Plus the foam basically makes this a disposable boot. Poo.

    • @Stridewise

      @@Stridewise I get that it can be resoled, but once that foam collapses you'll be standing on the cork which needs a slab of quarter inch leather as a buffer or it'll get pushed all over the place and break up. Also foam gets super stinky.

    • @joeshmoe9233
      @joeshmoe9233 Год назад

      @@Stridewise Any antimicrobial characteristics of foam claimed by the manufacturers are wildly exaggerated. Outside of carefully crafted laboratory environments, in the real world of sweaty ass feet and minimal airflow, they are actually a prime growing medium for funk. Basically the big corporations that make these synthetic substitutes lie. Like Dupont claiming their fabrics breathe better than cotton while wicking moisture. The only cyclists that believe that crap are riders that feel the need to cosplay as a sponsored professional while they get some miles in. Same with microfiber towels, whether
      or not they are even equal in absorption to cotton is debatable, but after 2 or 3 wash cycles that absorption starts to disappear, whereas cotton's thirstiness just gets better with every wash. Anyway, I looked at Rose Anvil's cut in half videos and the Tecovas seem to have a very thin foam under the thin leather slipsole, then a thin compressed cardboard layer at the heel, then a THICK veg tan leather midsole. So they might be alright in that respect, though the plastic heel counter and toe stiffener is kinda a deal breaker for me. The Thursdays were thin leather slipsole, then two layers of nasty ass foam, then thick compressed fiberboard, then cork filling the welt gap and finally a thin leather midsole. Nope. They should save the money spent on the slipsole, foam, fiberboard and midsole and just use a thick veg tan insole and then put the cork filler directly under the outsole like redwings does. Not as comfy at first, but lasts 5 times as long is much more comfortable after full break-in. Sorry I wrote a novella here, I'm bored.
