Love the way you did the rear mounting. And I also had trouble finding a place to strap to on the right side without those clips. Header was too close to the frame on the right… worried it would melt. I have the reckless 40, and the rear mounting is awkward on the excf.
Adventure light 💡. Take less stuff. 🤯 I am having this exact predicament at the moment. Reckless 80 or 40. You are so right. Pack light , it’s a way of life! Lol
Excellent review and clever approach to mounting and adding additional storage. Giant Loop has a clever small tail rack that you could use as a rear mounting point or to attach a small pouch for day use. Does require drilling in the fender though.

Awesome vids, really thinking about the 500 for my next adv bike. Something to think about, I zip tie my spare shifter and lever to my rad guards to free up weight in my bags.
Hey Keith, my Mosko Moto Reckless 40 just arrived. Just wondering, when you mounted the clips to the subframe did you use the clips with the included bolts. Or did you drill them out to fit the larger thread size of the subframe bolt. Cheers.
You mention (in comments below) using some longer screws for the subframe. I've looked all over and can't find any that have the right wide, shouldered cap profile to effectively torque down on the steel grommet that's in the plastic shroud without crushing the plastic. Can you provide some more detail on the exact fasteners and washers you used? I love your mounting system and want to replicate if I can find the right parts.
nothing fancy at all. found some aluminium tube that fit inside the plastic but still took a bolt. then used a bog-standard hex-head bolt of the required length.
They are the plastic “tongue” from chipboard tongue and groove flooring boards. Find one at a local house building site bin. Several different colors but plastic is the same. Electrician’s use them as pull throughs for running wires inside walls too. Very handy. You’ve found another great use for them Keith!
Great review. Do you find the 40s get in your way when you're riding offroad? I'm debating between them, the Reckless 10s and the Mojavis. Pretty much can only do day rides now so I'm leaning toward the latter, but if the 40s don't get in the way, maybe they'd be the better long-term investment. Also, would you be able to share any insights on the Reckless 10 vs the Mojavis for day trips? Cheers.
Hey Keith I’m looking at buying one of these racks like yours. Having trouble getting in touch with them atm but also wondering if u or any of your mates have the same rack that would be interesting in selling it? Thanks mate Jeremy
As neat and well built as the reckless 40 kit is, it is running about 650 US dollars, + shipping and tax. Some are asking over 700. I like the idea of taking less stuff, if your camping and cooking and spending even 3 days out on the road, you gotta have certain things. I ordered the TUSK Excursion instead. Some of the trickier details mosko moto does arent needed by me anyway.
Hi Keith, very helpful video thanks. If you haven’t seen his RUclips channel yet, you might be interested in John T Young’s videos. He’s very particular about the gear he uses, although he doesn’t exactly pack light. I’d be grateful for some advice on your choice of gear. I’ve just received the Mosko Moto 10 and am trying to decide on a tank bag. I’ve been looking at the MM Pico, which is smaller than the Enduristan you have and about the same price, except you have to pay more if you want a map pocket. If you were buying again, would you go with the Enduristan or try something else?
Great review, great product...However, Rocky Mountain now has a a system that's nearly identical for less than half the price. Tusk Excursion Rackless. Mosko Moto has a great product that is grossly overpriced. Have great riding clothing too...But trying to out price Klim is a great way not to sell me anything...Love your videos. What an ingenious way to mount that rear fender hold down!! 👍
Great video very helpful. I'm interested in your friends set up. Mojavi with a bag on top for a certain trip. Can you tell me what bag he used ? Cheers
Hi Keith, where would I be able to find those clip hook straps that you use to secure the back of the Reckless bags on the fender? I don't have any lying around and I cannot seem to find anything like that, standalone, or even detach from a fender bag?
I have the Reckless 10L on my 2020 ktm 500 and I love it, but I was looking at getting either the Reckless 10 or 40 for my 2024. Is the Reckless 40 to big for day rides or is the 40 only necessary for multi-day trips?
Probably fine. The side packets are 15L each I think, just don't fill them. And don't take the 8L tail bag. Or get something like the Giant Loop Mojavi.
I think the 80L is too big for the EXC. Remember there is not really any subframe under the guard either, just a plastic one. So the extra weight that you'd jam into the 80L would kill it. Unless you added some proper racks. Would be OK on the 690, if you had need for it.
@@keithjob thanks. Your excellent vids convinced me of the value of exc as an adventure bike. I’ve got a 350, think I’ll put on hold plans to acquire a 690 and give adventure on it a go. (I’m in the uk, haven’t got your vast spaces and gravel roads, it may just work.) Should that work nicely, I’ll replace it with a 500, thinking that I should be able to port all mods.
Not sure where they came from (maybe with the bags?). But Mosko sell a cleat kit which is the same thing. Check their website. The bolt - yes you need to change it. Factory one has a sort of built-in spacer to position inside the plastic cover without pinching it down. I used a longer bolt and put a spacer and some washers in behind the clip to try to replicate that.
Just bought the orange and black v4 Mosko 40s for my KTM 500. Can’t wait to use them on BDRs
Like the tip on the irrigation tubing on the clips. Thanks
I did 9 days in the backcountry with that same set up. Lighter is faster and faster is more fun!
For anyone looking for those rear clips, I think those are what you would get with a front fender bag.
"Just take less stuff..." That is the key to maximum enjoyment when adventure riding.

Thanks Kieth, adventure light..that’s locked in my thoughts now and my focus, from here on out.
I've got the 40 for small bikes and 80 for bigger trips/bikes.
It's high quality luggage. Recommended.

Great review. This covers so many thing no one else mentions.
Awesome video mate! was considering getting a 80l but I think you just changed my mind! cheers!

think i drilled them?can't remember

Great video Keith, contemplating similar system now after doing away with my pannier racks for a cleaner looking bike. Cheers!
It's a fantastic system (albeit expensive 😱). The hard base on the Moskos holds the shape really well.
Great review Keith, what are the blue plastic things you're using to hold the bags to the molle webbing ? I tried searching without success.
You can buy molle sticks directly from Mosko Moto. I think Keith's are homemade.

I wouldn't personally go smaller than the enduristan.
@@keithjob thanks, that was my concern

That would be worth a look... agree the MM are expensive
An the end you changed from less stuff to more stuff and R80?
Great video very helpful. I'm interested in your friends set up. Mojavi with a bag on top for a certain trip. Can you tell me what bag he used ? Cheers
Probably just a cheap 20L drybag from a camping store.
Great video brother.
Great vid. Thanks for doing it
Be aware! If you order from the EU site, YOU must pay the import fees and they are high!
Thanks for the video, where did you get the clips that you looped the straps through? Thanks
I think the Moskos came with two of them when I bought them. I have a feeling wolfman luggage might have them too.
Hi Keith, where would I be able to find those clip hook straps that you use to secure the back of the Reckless bags on the fender? I don't have any lying around and I cannot seem to find anything like that, standalone, or even detach from a fender bag?
They were from a Wolfman tail bag

H i Keith, what are those bottom mountin clips called ? Ans where do u get them ?
I'm looking for these clips
Those are included with the Reckless bags. I'm sure Mosko sells them separately as well.
Hi mate, what do you do about the ktm service intervals?
25-ish hours for me.
Thanks Keith, very nice. So you say the 80L is too big for an exc, but also for a 690?

@@keithjob Thank you! I'm trying to get mine set up now. Your videos have been super helpful! Especially the LED video with the KTM connectors.
Approved
Can you use the 22L tail bag on the reckless 40 instead of the 8L bag?
haven't got one so not certain... BUT, I do use a 15L drysack in that spot. Or, a 10L atop the MM 8L one. I think you could make it work.
Yes you can. They offer the 22L stinger as an option on the moskomoto site.
Love it
Purchase year?
2019 (bike)
2016 approx (Moskos)
I thought you were saying reckless.
The system is called a Reckless 40.
Nice little shed set up
