    Wow that camera shake is pretty bad! 😵‍💫 Appears my trusty Sony X3000 helmet cam may be on its last legs... Add new camera to the list!

    Met a pair of 690s at Nonning, just east of Mt Ive. Absolutely stuffed from slippery clay from Kingoonya. Wanted to swap for my old Prado!

    Hey Keith now you have done heaps more on the wheels ,you can give your appion on them.
    How bad was your fuel economy on the dirt roads 🤔
    Ps love the fist episode you do put a great effort in on them mate.

      I'll cover these in detail in the review vid. In short, the KKE wheels are solid as. No dings, no loose spokes.

    Hi Keith, love your videos mate. I’m riding the Madigan on my Husky 501 early Sept, and just wondering if you could tell me the klms you did from Mt Dare to Birdsville and how much fuel you used ?
    Cheers Keith, Chris.

    • @keithjob
      @keithjob  Год назад +1

      Hi Chris, we didn't go to Birdsville as the Eyre Ck crossing was still shut. We exited via Hay River tk to Jervois. 736km on the GPS, 762km on the speedo. And according to my planning that way is only 20km longer than taking the Madigan all the way to Birdsville. Fuel, we used WAY less than I thought... 38L for me, 41L for my brother.

    Just recently another rider had the same problem...the pub had given his room away. Had to ride to Peterborough for a room due to not having camping gear, I think 🤔

    • @keithjob
      @keithjob  Год назад +1

      Yes we were not the first and I'd say won't be the last. Very poor, I have never encountered that behaviour at any other pub I've stayed in.

  • @frankenpixel
    @frankenpixel Год назад

    Did they at least give you a refund on the pub room? I suppose it depends wether you booked/payed a deposit/or payed in full. Heck even if you didn’t pay anything yet you should have been given a few beers on the house 😂

    • @keithjob
      @keithjob  Год назад

      Nothing. Barely even cared. Not even sure there was an apology, "that's just the way it is."

    I got the grip puppies and placed them over my existing grips, does the large grip bother you? Wondering if I’ll get used to it, but I feel like I don’t have a solid grip now.

    • @keithjob
      @keithjob  Год назад +1

      Yes that is the trade off. For a recent "single track" ride I removed them and the grip is so much better. But for longer rides I wouldn't be without them.

      It would be worth trying out the Progrip 786 foam rally grips. I have ridden around 25000ks with them without a blister. Sometimes 800+ ks a day. The other 'rally' grips from progrip aren't nearly as good for feel and grip.

    Did you cover 600km with 18,4 liters?

    • @keithjob
      @keithjob  Год назад

      No, sorry that was a bit confusing wasn't it! That leg was 320km, I used 16.97L, economy 18.9 km/L. My point is that for a 17L tank the last 2L is useless.

    • @etiennecfourie777
      @etiennecfourie777 Год назад

      @@keithjob right because the two lobes aren't connected. Do any of those larger tanks have a bridge?

    • @aganatra7419
      @aganatra7419 Год назад +1

      I have the acerbis 4.1g(15l) tank and have the same issue...there's always some last bit of gas left on the right side which you can only use by tipping the bike on its left side...don't think it's possible to have it any other way as the tanks straddle the frame so ther has to be 2 sides...it is what it is I guess

    What was that track called and how long did it go for ?

      We used 32L taking the QAA and French line from Birdsville to Mt dare on 500 and 450excs. 1 and 1/4 days as my 2 mates got 3 flats. We came back from Mt dare via Rig road, WAA line, K1 line and then back Birdsville on the QAA. 39 litres on the return trip and it was 100% out as I rolled into the bowser at Birdsville. Similar from Betoota to Cameron Corner down the border. Rolled down the hill to the Cameron corner store as it had just run dry. Both times I had to tip her over to get the last few Ks.
