Finally got a good recommendation from RUclips! No music, little talking, and quality footage. The best style for trout videos, IMO. Glad I found this channel! And wow, what a trophy fish at the end there!
Great video! No crazy music and no needless talking about have a tank of a fish on, since we can see everything due to great quality of your video. This is one of the best fishing videos I have seen. Keep up the good work.
I second the comment about the music or anything unnecessary about this video. Just good fishing. What was your setup, and what where you getting them on.
You lucky dogs you, I would love to fish there. The whole creek is lovely looking with lots of depth, snow caps around you and huge fish. There's almost nothing even close to that where I live. Nothing within several hours anyway and even then likely 10x more pressured than that water. The entire section looked like it could hold fish and it's got nice color so you don't have to go super light and be super stealthy. I love it, I am envious. When every fish is huge it just becomes routine, that's some of the most fun you can have. The closest I had was a downed tree caused a stocking truck to dump a ton of their fish with many large fish into a spot that is hard to get to and less fished. Me and my dad and a few others found they put a ton in this back woods area and you'd have thought the fish were fighting each other to bite the line and 2/3rds were over 18 inches, many breaking 20. That special situation lasted the entire season and made for many unforgettable days but it was a one off and ended once the summer killed off many of the fish. That was a unique situation that will not happen again most likely, our creeks mostly don't support the trout year round in Pennsylvania and the state doesn't take even good care of it's waters and fish so the best we get is stocked trout in 90% of water. Are these all wild rainbows by the way? Idaho has some great water and it wouldn't surprise me if they're all stream raised or native.
I felt your pain on the bonus clip. In the future, use the shallow water where you first hooked him, by simply walking backwards. Pull him up into shallow water and/or bank him. Without deep water to tread, they loose the fight quickly.
Great video, beautiful scenery... Reminds me of the times I fished Northcentral PA... Now that I live in Florida, these videos and memories are all I have now... Thanks for sharing...
I call this time of year my three week window! It’s during spring runoff’s usually only lasts (3) three weeks but during this time the fish are so hungry that using a leaf on a hook will be struck over & over. This one stream/creek I mostly fished during these times had undercuts back way under shore. Usually after spring run off you never see these huge fish & don’t have a clue they are there! Coming out only at night!
If you were a fishing guide I'd pay whatever you asked to fish with you. I can't walk very well but I would crawl to get there and do some fishing. Great video.
Like a stocked private stream to me.ive fished all over the us and these results are unbelievable literally I don't believe it is real.maybe a few this size from a blue ribbon stream but all over 20 inches plus ???? And fake decapriio not exactly the most advanced Fisher around.watch drewlookingfishy he goes to real rivers and is supremely good at fly fishing and his results are nowhere near the size or frequency of fake caorio.but maybe he found the holy grail of rivers maybe he is in New Zealand or Chile or Patagonia but these looked. Like western cutthroat.idk I'm skeptical but very realistic with 40 years of real experience and 10000s of hours fishing .I don't normally comment on anything but every once in a while I'll throw in my 2 cents which is still well under a dollar tossed in total.anyway I wouldn't turn down a trip to fish wherever it was .I would gladly do without fakecaorio and my results would rival his and probably out do him.his fly most likely was a brown fish pellet replica
You did man! congratulations on the Steelhead! Seconds into that last fight I thought "steelhead" with the nice bucket you were fishing in. be careful, Hunting Steelies can get addicting. The Owyhee is picking up right now with few bites on the Skwala fyi.
New to your channel. Next week I'll be moving over to Hayden from Seattle, and can't wait to do some fishing. I don't know fly fishing yet. Creek fishing is what I love the most. Those were some awesome fish
That last fish was so hot. You did good. When we steelhead fish we put alot of lateral pressure on the fish. But with those rapids you did good. cool video bro
@bonus clip: When you got down to the turbulent waters I knew you wouldn't keep that fish. Next time you should try to manage it into the swallow waters were you hooked it and try to walk slowly but steadily back and land it on the river bank. Great video though 👌
Great vid! Comments, and your attire point to Idaho…but everything, terrain, water and fish sure look exactly like West Michigan…at least in the early scenes.
Incredible stream and fantastic fish. I have a rig but have never fly fished. Always looking for a new experience and will be in Idaho in late July...Hagerman area. I'd be happy to pay you as a guide to get a chance at some fish like these. Great video, keep up the good work!!
Awsome video those are some tanks! I noticed you had a drift lodge shirt on. I have stayed at the drift lodge a few times and have not had much success fishing the area. Is there any advice you can give. Tia
Hi Tia! Thanks for the comment, Island Park has amazing fishing. but TONS of traffic in all the waters in the area. Fish can't hide from anglers in that area. My best advice is to fish in that area when the best hatches are going off, fish can't refuse big salmon flies and stoneflies!
Most fun you can have with your clothes on. My father in law( best fly fisherman that I've ever seen) owned a cabin in Island Park Idaho. We used to fish a creek that was a BITCH to get to. Greatest fly fishing anywhere. Nice patience on that last fish. Congrats!!
it always pays to do some research! I found a back woods lake behind an old military fort in Texas that was loaded with bass, crappie and gills and a few rock bass. My biggest bass from there was almost 8 pounds. It's hardly ever fished ! Bonus !!
Never cast the Helios. Have the Scott Centric and Sage X in 9ft 5 weights. Great rods, but I'm finding it difficult to find a line i like on the Centric. It has quite a soft tip.@@FireflyFishing
Great video!! Nice spot, nice fish and your attention to details is amazing. Both in the quality of your video and the care you put into fishing. Respect!!
I actually know where that is, and have in fact driven by it, tight to know there's fish in there. My homies and I will go fish it this weekend. Thanks!
I don't suppose you would be willing to share this area off youtube? I live in Missoula and am looking to do more fishing in Idaho. I can share MT spots if you would like to trade?

Outstanding video. I especially appreciate that the fish are only kept out of the water for a few seconds and returned to the water.
Thanks so much! I try to be better and better every trip! 🙌
One of the best fly fishing videos ever.
I like the respectful way you handle the fish
Really appreciate this man!
All I can say is WOW! Excellent fishing, young Buck!
